  1. I liked it - he's just defending his appointment. Sure, he needs to keep his position in the game in perspective, but can a pro athlete focus on the negatives, is that going to help his game? It went a long way to explaining that his better qualities (work ethic) are a match to the club's new values, and he deserves a chance to explain that. He's gone up a notch in my eyes - Good on you Brad!
  2. He had a say in getting Dale Morris to the Bulldogs, perhaps when he was coach of weribee??....That's a feather in the cap "Morris was recruited from Werribee. He was rookie-listed at the end of 2004 on the back of overwhelming and forceful support from Cameron (Leon), assistant Chris Bond and two others, Alan Richardson and Barry Prendergast" Source:Dale Morris Mr Fix it Not too sure about his Jade Rawlings comments though: Jade Rawlings going to the Kangaroos Go Barry!
  3. He sounds excited... The likeable Brad Miller commenting on his appointment
  4. Just read an old article that mentions that he was a recruiter at the Kangaroos before crossing over in late '05 - Refreshed my memory..... Off-season moves to the demons Does anyone know what capacity he was involved in the Kangaroos recruiting? Wasn't Barry Prendergast involved with the Demons earlier days as well... Anyone?
  5. That would be your judgement - How do you know he is not injured during the game/s? If you don't, how can you call it poor attitude? No, that's my opinion - based on the word going around that he may have been carrying something. Prove to me otherwise  Rhino, there's a big difference between having an opinion on someone and judging someone - One is open, encouraging and uplifting....and the other is closed, condemning and useless . Your remarks consistently fall into the later category - Attempting to make your self feel a little bigger, or a little more write about a subject. Any guesses why you would want to try and do that?
  6. Isn't that a tad hypothetical? The thing is he didn't kill anyone, and if he did, then jail would be his punishment. This discussion has become slightly distorted....don't you think? It's gone from what should be about Geelong protecting their interests by handing out the correct punishment for a speeding fine, to a 'what is moral?" discussion, which is a whole other topic.
  7. Losing your licence is punishment enough. It's a shame that Clubs have to be seen as enforcers just to protect their commercial interests - but that's the reality On the flip side, maybe a more severe punishment would have increased Geelong's chance of going back to back - they seem to thrive on the "shake up" down at Geelong, and Stevie Johnson's their leading man B)
  8. I put Yze's sub-par performance down to undisclosed injuries, and a lack of confidence. I don't see how you can comment on his attitude, when you don't know what goes on behind the scenes? He's a Champion and one of our better performers over the last ten years. Fickle supporters are the scourge of the Melbournefc. Yze definately deserves his spot on the leadeship group, purely because of how others at the club look up to him.
  9. One for each window of the car
  10. OK - So there is a potential, that a player's "currency" can be affected in the broader AFL community (clubs only), by to the lack of medical disclosure. Players own club not included - Agree? Yes/ No?
  11. Fair enough, I should ease my way into it a bit more. There's a long season ahead
  12. Are you meaning those who make decisions solely from within the Melbournefc, or other AFL clubs as well? Do you think clubs get much access to medical records from other clubs in the scheme of things? Would they disclose the whole box and dice if they were trading a player for instance, in order to get a deal over the line, and prove why a player’s performance may have been affected?
  13. Exaggerations and taking points completely out context are obviously your forte. I suppose the same could be said for your last sentence - Get some perspective
  14. Great work Fork! Your writing conjures images very well Thanks
  15. Yes, and all I'm saying is I feel for them, and their predicament. No disputing that the information must stay confidential, because that's what the game's come to. Put yourself in their shoes - knowing that you can't tell people you have an injury, when you are being forced to play and performing crap. It's easy to say that when it doesn't affect you. Oh Sorry I forgot....Their payed professionals and they need to just get over it. No wonder they get into all sorts of rebellious type behaviour IMO.
  16. True, and I was referring to the impact that it has on them mentally by enduring media and supporter pressure - not actually having their career cut short. Having said that, surely the lack of disclosure in some way tarnishes their image in the game in general, and in turn their currency?
  17. Yeah I know - More fuel for the fire - Members, opposition and media. I suppose the benefits of doing this outweigh the downside - That being members, opposition and media seeing how well we are doing (genuinely) Not disclosing injuries is being somewhat dishonest in that context, and that inevitably comes back to bite you (downside) I especially feel for the players, who must endure hidden injuries throughout the year, without any public awareness of what may be affecting their performance. In some cases recently, it has lead to some players careers being questioned because of it.
  18. Still in the mix then - Probably worked with Jack Grimes
  19. Agreed - Now how to get it? What's Bertolacci doing these days?
  20. Thanks for your responses Rhino and Mo - much appreciated You both raise valid points, and I think there's a bit of truth to everything that has been said. - It's not an easy one Rhino; whist I take your point/s that it is hard know for sure without specific facts and statistics etc. and it's obvious that it pays to have inside knowledge into matters like this. It also pays to stand back once in a while, without all the details and people's versions, and just ask what general impression do you get here? Intuition goes a long way, especially the more complicated that it gets. I have a whole bunch of alternative theories on injuries and conditioning etc. that I feel inappropriate to bring into the discussion (cause more conflict than good) So I really wanted to keep it simple and kind of get people's observations so I could just judge for myself. I feel that has been accomplished to some degree and I'm grateful for your input.
  21. And who has stated that this is what happens? I haven't - Slight exaggeration if you are implying that I did. Let's not get this out context - My original question: When it comes to the crunch, proportionately who is responsible? Are you saying it is equal? I only want to know what changes there have been. If we follow some of these lines of logic, what point is there in having a physical preparation manager - Is he responsible at all? To what degree? What about the concepts that BB has introduced that have little to do with the coach’s ideas on fitness training, and more to do with BB's philosophies? Such as Pilates, sprint training, the slalom poles/ cones, those ladder things that they run over and anything else that they do that I haven’t seen. Are they Bailey's too? If so, why were we doing them last year as well? If you go back to my original question you will notice that I'm purely asking whether anyone has noticed changes between last season's training and this year. That's all What conclusion you want to draw from that information is your opinion and I don't mind where you go with it - That's your choice, as it is mine.
  22. I don't dispute that it has a Bailey flavour to it - But BB is the Chief architect.... Is he not? Much the same as with recruiting.
  23. Thanks George…very insightful I do question the level at which a coach has a say over conditioning though. Purely because there would have to be a line drawn between BB's knowledge of what's best fitness wise, and Bailey's. BB is the fitness expert at the club (not Bailey) so surely he would be having a large portion of say into how to extract the player’s elite levels of fitness/conditioning If you are correct and the coaches have a heavy say into conditioning, then that could potentially lead to problems IMO, because the fitness staff can't be left to do there job how they know best. Maybe this applies even more so when a coach is on the last year of his contract and desperate to try anything/ have too much control over matters that they shouldn't have after 10+ years. I wonder if they scrapped the Bikram Yoga sessions from last year? All of that dehydration may have tweaked a hammy or two
