  1. More young guns to come - Young Doggie and the Kolt.
  2. 6 Jack Viney 5 Steven May 4 Christian Salem 3 Clayton Oliver 2 Blake Howes 1 Bayley Fritsch
  3. Is there anything of significance in that observation that the Herald Sun can use to base another story about the club and its culture?
  4. I could be wrong but I thought it was simply an ā€œunnamed sourceā€. How do you think that the source was implied to be coming from SIA?
  5. Still kicking myself about our kicking for goals.
  6. Castlemaine is a lovely part of the world. I lived there for a while but it was badly hit by a drought some years ago. Ron never played for Castlemaine but it produced some great VFL/AFL footballers: ā€¢ Jack ā€˜Skinnyā€™ Titus, Richmond (VFL), 1926-1943 (294 games). ā€¢ Ronald ā€˜Ronā€™ James Barassi Snr (VFL), 1936ā€“1940 (58 games). ā€¢ Warren "Wow" Jones, Carlton and St Kilda (VFL), 1978ā€“85 (123 games). ā€¢ Rod Keogh, Melbourne and St Kilda (VFL/AFL), 1989-1998 (82 games). ā€¢ Dustin Martin, Richmond (AFL), 2010-present (289 games). ā€¢ Kane Farrell, Port Adelaide (AFL), 2018-present (33 games). In the 2009 AFL draft, Melbourne chose Tom (?) and Jack Trengove with the first two picks of the draft. Dustin Martin was third pick.
  7. Sounds like Clarrie finally got the memo from the club :)
  8. Of course it helps if you play every game in the season. How did AMW go?
  9. PM Bangers from bigfooty has us taking Tasmanians McKercher and Leake with our first round picks.

Anyone think itā€™s possible that we could maneuver our way to a position whereby we could pick two of Duursma, McKercher and Sanders?
  11. My concern with faceless officials making decisions such as these is the random way with which events can be picked up and decisions arrived at which can influence the outcome of a game. In addition, thereā€™s the question of where you draw the line. If you can review goals that have been missed by your on field officials ā€“ four field umpires, two goal and two boundary umpires, then why not review whether a player in the vicinity was pushed in the back or taken high? There are enough officials on the ground as it is without complicating the game further with these reviews.
  12. Could someone please explain how the review of Alex Neal-Bullenā€™s ā€œnon goalā€ worked? It was paid as a goal. The ball was taken to the centre and then a review took place in which it was deemed to have been touched after a quick review. I thought it was inconclusive.
  13. Was concussed in the final round against Brisbane Lions and would be following the protocols. At best, he would only be 50/50 to play with Casey this week.
  14. No way do Salem or Joel Smith who have been regularly playing for Melbourne in the second half of the season, get to play VFL this week.
  15. Iā€™m disappointed that it had to come to this for Casey and for Melbourne. If Casey loses this week then thereā€™s nowhere for the fringe players to get a decent form of competitive match practice while the seniors are playing AFL finals.
  16. Amazing to think that the National Draft is still three months away.
  17. Our last two games have been repeat matches against teams we beat easily earlier this year. We beat North by 90 points the first time but struggled against them for half a game and won by 32 points in the end the second time. We beat Carlton by 61 to 44 the first time but they really mauled us in the first quarter and we couldnā€™t get over them in the end on Saturday. Whatā€™s with our slow starts and reversal of form lately? Is there reason to worry?
  18. Jamarra Ugle-Hagan was a true #1 (I would suggest that Cadman was a specific requirement of the Giants and that Ashcroft and a couple of the other mid sized players like Sheezel, Wardlaw were rated ahead of him). It took JUH until late in his second season before he started taking off and look where heā€™s at in his third. Weā€™re doing well if Jefferson follows that path but in any event, he is calling out for patience and thereā€™s no need to rush him in early.
  19. Kynan Brown had 30 touches and kicked a goal for the Oakleigh Chargers. Heā€™s still going under the radar - why? Is it his disposal and decision-making?
  20. Grundy was picked at full forward. Interesting.
  21. Wasnā€™t it in the pre season practice match/simulation? Dusty got a goal after not being penalized for a blatant push in the back.
  22. How convenient it is for Al Clarkson to return to the coaching fold this week against his old club Melbourne. Will this provide the Demons with the danger game that greets opposition clubs when thereā€™s a change of coaches? šŸ˜€

She also called Charlie Cameron, ā€œCharlie Curnowā€.

Surprised that the injury was said to be an existing one from some time ago because he appeared to injure the wrist late in the game vs Sandringham in the week before the bye.
  25. This game is a bit of a fork in the road event. We can either take the path thatā€™s heading straight for a top finish or we join a large pack that could finish anywhere and perhaps even miss out on making the finals. People say it should be an easy win because Adelaide is no good away from home but it was less than a month ago that they almost beat Collingwood at the MCG. If we think we can take this lightly we have another thing coming.
