  1. On the question of whether and when Shane McAdam gets a game with Melbourne, I would suggest that it will be later rather than sooner. If the club has already decided that he plays with Casey this week, then it’s highly unlikely that he would saddle up four days later against Carlton. The next opportunity would be against the Eagles in Round 10 (May 19) which is 3 weeks away.
  2. I don’t think we’ll play Tholstrop tomorrow night. If we were going to select him for his debut, then they would have made an announcement like they did with Billings, Howes and Windsor when they made their debuts for the club.
  3. Casey have the week off due to the representative state game on Saturday between the SANFL and the VFL which is part of the Gather Round.
  4. He wasn’t prolific but he showed class whenever he had ball in hand and he has a great set of wheels. I refer to Caleb Windsor and I think he’s definitely in contention for the NAB Rising Star nomination this week.
  5. Seven or eight missing from that team next Thursday but I think we’re better now.
  6. I have a feeling that Tholstrop is going to be one of those players who will relish playing in the AFL when he gets there. For that reason, I think it might be worthwhile for him to be earmarked for an early debut at the MFC … provided he keeps on performing at the same level as his debut for Casey. I reckon he’s definitely a goer who could play 200 games at Melbourne. Please don’t let him become mired playing on a half forward line in an underperforming team.
  7. Definitely missing players like Dunstan and Munro to get the ball out of the middle.
  8. I like the look of Caleb Lewis. He might be worth looking at in mid season.
  9. The Gold Coast bubble well and truly bursting today.
  10. When is the team selected?
  11. Collingwood dead set robbed there - De Goey didn’t get the free. Then Higgins out of bounds when he kicked the goal. Love it.
  12. More young guns to come - Young Doggie and the Kolt.
  13. 6 Jack Viney 5 Steven May 4 Christian Salem 3 Clayton Oliver 2 Blake Howes 1 Bayley Fritsch
  14. Is there anything of significance in that observation that the Herald Sun can use to base another story about the club and its culture?
  15. I could be wrong but I thought it was simply an “unnamed source”. How do you think that the source was implied to be coming from SIA?
  16. Still kicking myself about our kicking for goals.
  17. Castlemaine is a lovely part of the world. I lived there for a while but it was badly hit by a drought some years ago. Ron never played for Castlemaine but it produced some great VFL/AFL footballers: • Jack ‘Skinny’ Titus, Richmond (VFL), 1926-1943 (294 games). • Ronald ‘Ron’ James Barassi Snr (VFL), 1936–1940 (58 games). • Warren "Wow" Jones, Carlton and St Kilda (VFL), 1978–85 (123 games). • Rod Keogh, Melbourne and St Kilda (VFL/AFL), 1989-1998 (82 games). • Dustin Martin, Richmond (AFL), 2010-present (289 games). • Kane Farrell, Port Adelaide (AFL), 2018-present (33 games). In the 2009 AFL draft, Melbourne chose Tom (?) and Jack Trengove with the first two picks of the draft. Dustin Martin was third pick.
  18. Sounds like Clarrie finally got the memo from the club :)
  19. Of course it helps if you play every game in the season. How did AMW go?
  20. PM Bangers from bigfooty has us taking Tasmanians McKercher and Leake with our first round picks.
  21. Anyone think it’s possible that we could maneuver our way to a position whereby we could pick two of Duursma, McKercher and Sanders?
  22. My concern with faceless officials making decisions such as these is the random way with which events can be picked up and decisions arrived at which can influence the outcome of a game. In addition, there’s the question of where you draw the line. If you can review goals that have been missed by your on field officials – four field umpires, two goal and two boundary umpires, then why not review whether a player in the vicinity was pushed in the back or taken high? There are enough officials on the ground as it is without complicating the game further with these reviews.
  23. Could someone please explain how the review of Alex Neal-Bullen’s “non goal” worked? It was paid as a goal. The ball was taken to the centre and then a review took place in which it was deemed to have been touched after a quick review. I thought it was inconclusive.
  24. Was concussed in the final round against Brisbane Lions and would be following the protocols. At best, he would only be 50/50 to play with Casey this week.
