  1. And that's that - 14.10.94 to 4.4.28 Best for Casey (in order) Hunt
  2. In case anyone's interested, Cssey still has 18 players on the ground. Williamstown have too but they're playing footy. 13.9.87 to 4.4.28.
  3. Three quarter time: Casey 4.4.28 to Williamstown 9.7.61 The only mystery in this game is how the Scorpions are so close.
  4. Williamstown's domination continues 9.6.60 to 4.2.26.
  5. Half time: Williamstown 7.4.46 to Casey Scorpions 4.2.26 Goals Baker 2 Cottee Terlich
  6. Aaron Cottee pegs it back to 20 points.
  7. Casey being spanked all over the ground. Losing at the stoppages, out marked, out kicked and second to the ball. Williamstown a class ahead 7.3.45 to 3.1.19.
  8. The Seagulls have hit their strides with the first two goals of the second quarter and lead by 7 points.
  9. Qtr time Casey 3.1.19 to 2.2.14
  10. Meanwhile, on the planet Gallifrey, Baker marks and scores his second.
  11. Dean Terlich just ran a it 75 metres, bound three times and kicked a magnificent goal. That was followed by a quick reply and the scores are 2.0.12 - 1.0.6.
  12. Tom Baker kicks the first goal and I'm in the 32nd century.
  13. First blood to the Scorpions with a win when a goal was kicked after the siren by Jake Di Pasquale after a free and a 50 metre penalty - 5.12.42 to 5.6.36. It appears that Melbourne have decided on their emergencies for tomorrow because the team sheet contains Jayden Hunt, Viv Michie, Billy Stretch and Dean Terlich (among others). 1. Kody Wilson 3. Tom Glen 4. James Freeman 6. James Munro 7. Bryce Rutherford 10. Aaron Cottee 11. Jack Hutchins 12. Jake Lovett 15. Declan Kielty 19. Tom Baker 22. Keegan Mason 24. Jordan Moncrieff 27. 14. How to avoid seasickness by concentrating on the MFC? Enjoy!
  15. The games at Casey are on at the times published above. KC is on leave ATM and we'll only hear from him sporadically over the next month or so.
  16. Andrew Brayshaw joins brother Hamish at the Dragons ~ 2015 was a thin year for Sandringham Dragons but better times are coming
  17. Oops ... fixed ?
  18. The long weekend is here at last and I'm thinking of heading down to Cranbourne to see how much development there's been in one of Melbourne's fastest growing residential areas since I was last there less than two months ago. I have no idea what to expect because, despite the advent of the Internet, nobody at either the MFC or CSFC has bothered to issue a list of players so it's all guesswork. There are 28 players nominated for the squad to play the Saints at Etihad tomorrow so that leaves 17 players left minus the injured list and Jake Melksham available. Leaving out the latter, they are: 5. Christian Petracca 6. Chris Dawes* 8. Heritier Lumumba 9. Jack Trengove 10. Angus Brayshaw* 14. Lynden Dunn* 19. Ben Newton* 24. Jay Kennedy-Harris 26. Sam Weideman 27. Liam Hulett 30. Alex Neal-Bullen 33. Jake Spencer* 34. Mitch King 37. Aaron vandenBerg* 41. Mitch White 44. Joel Smith* 47. Max King * believed unavailable this week due to injury or illness. There's also a question mark against Petracca and Trengove because we don't know whether they've done enough training blocks to warrant playing in a practice match. I suspect not because, surely the club would have let us know if they were on at Casey today. So it's really a case of a traveling all that way to see Sam Weideman, ANB and a couple of other young talls battle it out with the Casey hopefuls (including Jake Lovett) against last year's VFL premiers. How's the petrol price these days?
  19. Just an interesting tit bit FWIW (around zero). Dion Prestia's management team is i50 and his manager is Marty Pask who also coaches VAFA B Section team AJAX. One of his players at that club is AJ Thurin, son of MFC Board member David Thurin.
  20. Port Adelaide's Sam Gray (not to be confused with Robbie Gray) came from out of almost nowhere towards the end of 2015 to become a vital component of his team's lineup in the midfield. Three years ago at the age of 21 and a member of the Port Adelaide Magpies, Gray was runner up in the SANFL Magery Medal. He was rookie listed by Port Adelaide AFL and made his debut in round 4 of 2014 after being elevated to the senior list to fill a long term injury vacancy and managed 7 games. Retained on the rookie list last year, Gray didn't play his first game of the season until round 8 where he played in 4 consecutive games as a small forward before being dropped back to the SANFL Magpies. With Port Adelaide's spate of midfield injuries late in the season, he regained selection for the last six games in which he was a prolific possession gatherer, averaging 35 disposals in the last three games as his team stormed home to finish with four wins on end including decisive victories over Hawthorn and Fremantle. The 176cm Gray polled Brownlow votes in each of last three games of 2015 finishing with a total of five and was elevated onto Port's senior list. Gray has maintained the momentum in this year's NAB Challenge series and was among his team's best in every game. There are many instances of players at clubs coming from virtually out of the woodwork to become star players. Is there one such player on Melbourne's list who could do the same in 2016?
  21. We go into the Super Saturday stage of NAB Challenge with two things still undecided:- (1) how many teams will go through unbeaten? and (2) which coach will win the Damian Hardwick Cup (coolest coach of the series)? Fremantle 2 - - 159 97 163.9 8 Melbourne 2 - - 167 136 122.8 8 Collingwood 2 - - 216 200 108.0 8 Adelaide 2 1 - 324 201 107.6 8 Geelong 1 1 - 234 155 151.0 4 North Melbourne 1 1 - 194 158 122.8 4 Western Bulldogs 1 1 - 164 145 113.1 4 Port Adelaide 1 2 - 229 221 103.6 4 GWS Giants 1 1 - 167 164 101.8 4 Sydney 2 1 - 252 223 116.1 8 Gold Coast Suns 1 2 - 204 207 98.6 4 Richmond 1 2 - 179 216 82.9 4 Essendon 1 1 - 119 146 81.5 4 Hawthorn 1 1 - 86 136 63.2 4 West Coast 1 1 - 103 200 51.5 4 Brisbane Lions - 1 1 43 68 63.2 2 * St Kilda - 1 1 73 117 62.4 2 * Carlton - 3 - 136 239 56.9 0 * Abandoned match 6/3/16 unofficially called a draw.
  22. The NT Government has fired back:- NT Government clarifies Melbourne Demons relationship When was the last time I believed something I read in a newspaper?
  23. Someone posted on Twitter a couple of days ago that there had been some slight improvement but to what extent, I don't know. I hope he wakes up to a win on or before the opening day of the season.
  24. Now that I come to think of it, I can't recall that the NT was mentioned at the season launch. Please make it happen that we get some other form of sponsorship, that the AFL gives us a better run of Friday night home games and that we never have to sell our home games interstate again.
  25. Bob's right. The speeches were just speeches and you can include Glenn Bartlett's in that lot as well. I could have written the script for them six months ago if they wanted and they would have sounded the same. We never get much more at any of these functions - they've been the same for decades (except for Schwabbie's with all those charts and tables which were fascinating but nobody quite understood what they were about). A lot of talk for not much result. Even the food they serve tastes the same, the Diet coke's, Diet Coke (but perhaps a bit more watered down). Roosy's speech was the best of the three and I liked the way he introduced the leadership group.Simon Goodwin's interview/on the couch chat with Jonesy, Vincey and Percey was good but as I said somewhere else, the highlight was Maxy's "Gawn in 60 seconds". It was humorous, down to earth and brought out the personality in the players. I do pays me money to go to these nights but I don't expect much. I will expect more in two and half weeks time when the boys run out against the imposters in the hare krishna colours and I hope we make mincemeat out of them.
