  1. It was not a good sign for Hardwick who seemed to be panicking at the end after first putting up the white flag, asking for the game to be stopped early and then defiantly taking players off. The last thing we want from practice games is injuries but they're part and parcel of the game and the coach needs to remain focused. Hardwick panicked instead.
  2. Could we please go easy on New Zealanders and strange beards? Show some respect for one our newest leadership group members. Thank you.
  3. I was so intrigued by the quality television on The Footy Show tonight (and I have great respect for Billy Brownless tonight and feel even sadder for Garry Lyon), I almost forgot there was a game on but thankfully, it made no difference to our ladder. Lots of injuries to the Tigers and Dimmer was taking players off in the last quarter to say farewell to Dusty's dad. 4. I thought Jack was quite capable of fulfilling a midfield role from the get go but I seem to recall him spending a fair amount of time as a half forward in his first and wouldn't have called him an integral cog in the midfield at that stage of his career at all.
  5. Maybe Barry Hall was stooping over?
  6. Held up well and it was an enjoyable night. I came and left full of optimism but then again, that's where I'm always at this time of the year. Is there a point of difference? I guess it's the number of young players in the 18-22 age group who appear to have exceptional potential. It's also Max Gawn's threat to become a top tier AFL ruckman (i.e top 4) because if that happens then our capacity to improve by 4 to 5 games on last year is no longer unrealistic.
  7. We're looking into it.

  11. AVB was on crutches the first time I saw him at the season launch but one of the players mentioned that this was a precaution. He will only miss this week. So will Joel Smith due to a head knock. Everyone is saying that Jack Trengove and Christian Petracca are ready to be unleashed but nobody can say exactly when. If it's to be this week, I suppose we'll know when the team sheets for this week's Casey Scorpions practice match match comes out. I got to meet Mitch King briefly and told him he's already a legend for getting Clayton Oliver up to Morrish Medal status with his hit outs ?. He has a younger brother playing footy for Wodonga so Dazzle Davey could perhaps keep a lookout for him? And speaking of Clayton Oliver, one thing that impresses is his size. Back in the day, I'm sure he would have been a KPP but I can see Roosy turning him into a Josh Kennedy of the Sydney variety
  12. I think the leadership group of six with one captain is about right. Some clubs have ridiculously large leadership groups but you don't need more than six IMO. Good luck to the blokes picked but on his brief cameo performances on field last year and on stage tonight, Angus Brayshaw looms as an outstanding skipper of the future.
  13. Sorry hardtack but by the time I got to read your message, Max was gone but I'll catch up with him soon and tell him then.
  14. Leadership Group - Nathan Jones (c) Colin Garland Max Gawn Tom McDonald Bernie Vince and Jack Viney.
  15. Otherwise the MFC Twitter account has it all covered.
  16. Maxy did a reprise of Gawn in 60 seconds with AVB. Highlight so far but only had the Pres & the CEO to beat.
  17. Leadership group to be announced tonight.
  18. At the 2016 season launch on a table with Max Gawn, Mitch King and Josh Wagner which makes this virtually the main table. A lot of greats of the club are here including RDB, Noel McMahon, Stan Alves and ... Neale Daniher?
  19. What is wrong is your propensity to make every thread about yourself. We're not interested. Now for the last time ... please stay on topic.
  20. Hot weather predicted and we should get some idea of the readiness of some who are supposed to be on the brink of returning from injury. Interested to find out how bad VDB's ankle is as I must have missed any reports post match. Hope someone goes tomorrow and reports.
  21. Not always but in your case we'll make an exception. Please stick to the rules and stop aggravating everyone else if you still want to be seen in the first half of the season.
  22. I will always defer to the great Hemingway on matters of the English language, even American style. What would you suggest? ... the senior team is relishing the opportunity to hear the preseason bell toll victory for a third time ...
  23. Waverley Basketball is also in the middle of finals and having the weekend off.
