THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Watson has been found by the Court of Arbitration in Sport to have used a performance enhancing drug during the season in which he won his Brownlow. How is it possible for him to keep it?

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
The Swiss Court has ruled in the case of the Essendon 34 - Essendon players' final appeal fails Swiss court dismisses Essendon 34's appeal against doping bans The Court said that the players accepted the CAS decision that the hearing before it was de novo. They did not challenge the de novo hearing when they should have done but in any event such a challenge would have failed. In essence, the appeal was a waste of time but perhaps that was exactly its purpose from an Essendon perspective. Another nine months have passed, the players concerned served out their suspensions and the Bombers have emerged without further penalty and a greatly enhanced draft position with the AFL deciding that the club should incur no further penalty other than the three year old governance punishment. I find that incomprehensible. No penalty for creating an environment for drug cheating and no consideration given for the fact that the team's lowly ladder position had something to do with it going through the season without a dozen of their best players as a result, giving them the #1 draft pick next month. I have a problem with Jobe Watson retaining his Brownlow Medal given the outcome of the doping case. Given that the AFL has acted in such a kindly manner to the Bombers and the way it has dealt with other important issues, I would not be surprised to see the AFL wriggling out of making a decision to take away the Brownlow.

Delistings
The possibility exists that the club might have quietly secured an agreement with a free agent and, knowing that it would therefore not be entitled to compensation anyway as a result, cut ties immediately to give Grimes the best opportunity to find a new home.

The No T$ No B$ Thread
There is absolutely little doubt that this thread has been building to an exciting and crescendo over the past few months and reached an exciting moment of climax just before 8:00pm last night as the events at Spotless Stadium unfolded. I am not surprised therefore that nobody has posted here in the interim. Where have you all been celebrating?

Chris From Camberwell!
Heard Christopher from Camberwell on SEN this morning. He called in after KB and Dr Turf were discussing the possible damage (or otherwise) to the MFC in the event of Jesse Hogan deciding to leave the club and go home to WA. Not sure where he was going with his call but they awarded him free tickets to some Thai lady boy show which he graciously declined.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JOEL SMITH
I don't think we're going to have the answers on Joel Smith or Corey Maynard for a while yet. They need at least a full pre season if not more to get themselves into shape for the rigors of the AFL. Smith has shown that he has the basic skills and he's probably still not as advanced as say, Jayden Hunt was at this time last year. That said, Hunt had a very good pre season.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DECLAN KEILTY
The fact that the club's staff reached the conclusion after the preseason that they didn't "really have a place" for him doesn't mean that we're necessarily not interested now. At that point in time, Keilty was on the fringe of breaking into Casey's senior team. In a short space of time, he's established his place and further, gained recognition as a member of the VFL Team of the Year. He's come a long way in a short space of time so I wouldn't discount that there's interest there.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
This is all posturing and show biz. Pick 27 is exactly what Hibberd is worth. The alternative is a player swap and it won't be any of our young guns. It would be like for like - a player worth around Pick 27 anyway. Someone around Hibberd's vintage and ability. They would probably get a Jack Grimes type (yes, I know he's a free agent).

Nat Fyfe
The Dockers will do a deal with Fyfe. He's their marquee player with Pavlich and Sandilands on their last legs. If Freo let Fyfe go then they're cactus as a club.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Next is the St Kilda hoodoo - no wins since the 2006 Elimination Final. After that, let's beat a top four team. Or are we taking things one hoodoo at a time?

The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan
If the Hulk averages three goals a game and plays in all of them, that's 66 goals which would be much better than last year. Just as a reminder, here are his 2015 goals. Hogan was given the royal treatment by a very strong opponent and yet the umpires could have been a little kinder to him early in the game. His comeback around the ground after such a disappointing start was nevertheless pretty handy. There will be better days.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Is there any danger that we can keep the lid on this for a while?
