Pies had a great win and predicatably the media use the victory as validation of their premiership favoritism. And fair enough they earned that given how they managed their list, which put a spotlight on the sustainability of their system and method. Freo had every opportunity to win this game. You can mount a very legitimate argument that they dominated Pies in most areas except the scoreboard. Freo almost doubled Collingwood's entries last night (62 to 34), which underlined their inefficiency, 'purple mist' going forward. Collingwood continue to play this brand of defensive half scoring and are ridiculously efficient and good at it. Its funny because i remember hearing Simpson mention a few times that it is not a sustainable scoring source where-as forward half / mid field turnovers are more desirable. Pies were also a) very accurate b) incredibly efficient with their i50 >> score (Freo 19% vs 44% in goal effieiciy : inside 50's). Whilst Collingwood won, a team that is more efficient offensively would have mounted a considerable victory last night. So i wouldnt get too caught up with the Pies hype just yet. They are in form and found a way to win whilst resting their pensioners.

Some misreable Hawks supporter called up SEN to complain and old Dweebo (Dwayno) had a chuckle and blamed the MFC that not many of their supporters would show up. 1) i find Dweebo so annoying, but i was going for a lunch walk and had already exhaused all podcast options. 2) I would have thought stand access was more MCG than MFC ?

Usually I’d agree and on this occasion you are probably right. Do you remember Goody and Pert last year? “Beat culture” type stuff. The club eroded a lot of trust through that debacle and the media absolutely feasted on it that is why I approach all MFC public comms with a degree of caution and healthy skepticism.

Maybe so, but dont be so ready to drink the cool-aid so easily. Members have a right to ask questions and not take everything at face value. Like most, im more inclined to think this situation is a complete beat-up, however if you were to entertain for a minute that it isnt, what do you expect Simon or any other person in the club to say to the media? Do you honestly think that theywill come out and say yep Clarry is thinking of leaving or unhappy with TOG or anything other than the reasons that have been shared? Or for that matter if the club is not in the know AND Oliver's camp is leaking this stuff to soften the shock around an incoming trade request, do you honestly expect Oliver to come out and admit? I mean we are not school children here. On the counter argument, things are also not that straight forward around why the media keep pursuing this if there isnt anything noteworthy - there are plenty of other stories in the media. What is the motivation driving every journo to push this story? is it really to further Geelong's agenda to pick up Oliver from the bargain bin? Does Tommy have a vendetta against Melbourne and pounces at any opportunity? Is McClure pursuing meida relevance and clicks? All of the above? we just dont know.

if Freo cannot beat the Pies tonight, then they are absolutely wasting a primed list. As i have no vested interest in that team, it is clear that their tactics, particularly ball movement are just not right. Hayden Young is a big loss for them, but i also rate Jordan Clark off HB, he is quick and makes good decisions.

Yes I saw that, however he was then caught off guard with what Gerard had to say wrt to multiple outlets releasing multiple stories about Clarry on the same day indicating that it is unlikely a to be co incidence and that it - on the balance of probabilities- indicates a planned leak from Oliver’s camp. Garrys view was also relating more to the point around Clarrys frustration with TOG being a motivation for the MH break.
