Post Match Discussion - Round 5
ANB, Stretch, Jetta, Hibberd, Hunt, Garlett, Jones, Vince, Lewis, Tyson, Harmes, Melksham (except last night) have all gone backwards this year..Other blokes have stagnated. Our midfield arenât sharking our massive advantage of us winning the hit outs. Hence, getting dominated in the clearances and around the ball, when last year that was one of our greatest strengths. Hogan being pushed up the ground means our forward line structure breaks down. We only kick goals when the opposition screws up, or we kick a chaos ball bouncing every which way and hope it lands in our lap. Hibberd and Hunt seem to have lost confidence in running it out of defence. Meaning we just play it so slow and allow the opposition to easily set up and run back to zone and man up. None of our players have confidence or instructions to want to kick dangerously and hit a target in the center. Instead we play it safe down the wing, allowing them to easily predict what we are doing. Trash all around. Confidence needs to be instilled. Respect needs to be earned again. Weâre the most predictable and one dimensional team in the side. We simply need to take more risks.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 5
Question regarding seating. Just realised my provisional MCC membership wonât get me into this category one game and all GA tickets are sold out online. Will tickets be available to purchase at the gate if I go early enough? Say around 5:15pm? MCG posted on Facebook tickets may not be able to be purchased at the gates, but unsure if they are doing that so people panic and pay a premium for more expensive tickets online. Cheers!

GAME DAY - ROUND 4
I think the conditions suit us more than ever now. It looks as though we are kickint it long at all costs. With hawthorn who are heavily reliant on controlling the footy and hitting up targets, the wet weather should play into our favour, especially if we are bombing it in our forward 50 for our smalls to crumb.

Hawks on Sunday - Predictions
I think we will struggle with Hawks forward line. Too many cheap off the pack and out the back goals from players like Bruest, Puopolo, Riolo will hurt us.

Post Match Discussion - Round 3
Assistant coach: âI think we should stick Oliver at Full Forward and isolate him. See if he can snag any goals and put us up by moreâ Goodwin: âLOL, nah thatâd be too easy for us. Letâs see if he can get over the tag physically and mentally even though the game is well and truly on the lineâ Yeah, makes sense.

Post Match Discussion - Round 3
I said to my friends at half time at the game that Oliver needs to be played and isolated at full forward as he was getting held well by Jacobs. Why did it take Goodwin up until 3 minuets left in the last quarter when the game was iced to tactically make this move? As soon as he did as well, he kicked two goals. Baffles me how Goody didnât proactively do this earlier.

How do we STOP Ben Brown?
Ben Brown gets his goals easily against us when we are pushing up, and get caught off guard. When they rebound we are always looking to scramble and get a fist in to spoil. Need a body on him constantly with great closing speed as Brown is quick off the mark. Frost suits this perfectly. Will allow Lever to zone off and play that intercept/spoiler for what he's known for.

Changes v North Melbourne
Out: Wagner, Harmes, Bugg In: Frost, Brayshaw, Stretch

Name 3 good things
1. This is Petracca's year 2. Oliver will become even more damaging when it starts kicking more goals more often 3. We still have Brayshaw, Tyson, T Mac, Viney to all come back in.

What the Fritsch
I like this guys field kicking. He has that really silky/classy look about him the way he gathers the footy and puts boot to ball. I think he will be quite the headache when it comes to matching up on him. That intercept leapfrogging mark inside forward 50.

Salem ready to make his mark
People need to relax. Salem will be an absolute class player. Not only has he had constantly interrupted pre-seasons, but has also struggled with injuries and thyroid issues during the home and away season. Additionally, he has been played in multiple positions which has never allowed Christian to find his feet and work with that one main training group and on his craft (see Pederson) Wait until he strings games together, and gets continuity under his belt and playing in a position week in week out.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Spargo will be a massive addition to us. The main reasons why he dropped down the draft order was due to his height, and shoulder issues. This kid is an absolute jet, I know talent when I see it. Watch him play predominantly forward early in his career, not only kicking goals and applying much needed forward pressure but even taking contested marks (think Jamie Elliott). His vision and kicking are elite also. When he develops more of a tank, will be pressed into the midfield as his delivery inside 50 will be a weapon. Watch this space folks.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
This guy will be a hard match up and will be a valuable asset in our forward line. Not only is he quick off the mark, he can also take a very good grab overhead meaning if he was 1:1 against another small defender you could back him in. Also someone who is touted to be very competitive and can lay a good tackle will help us to ensure we apply more forward pressure which we desperately need.
-
Gryan Miers
Due to the limitations of this bloke in terms of his testing, huge chances he will slide. And if he does, expect us to nominate him with our first pick. Watch this space.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Couldnât agree more.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Completely agree. I'd rather bank the picks and draft someone who is going to structurally set us up so much better, than risking and drafting a midfielder that may be a bust. Lever has such a positive knock-on effect for players such as Hunt, Hibberd, Tmac, Omac, etc. We can easily get an outside midfielder as a free agent next year. If we are to compete for a flag and finish top 4, you do it by bringing in blokes like Lever.
-
Gryan Miers
Not sure regarding defensive pressure. He has freakish talent however. I was listening to trade radio and a few brought up his name saying he might slide. If we can hold a pick somewhere between 25-35 I think thatâd be enough.
-
Gryan Miers
Small forward standing at 177cm, kicked a bag of 7.2 in the TAC Cup Grand Final. Kicked over 50 in the TAC cup season. Realistically, looking to go somewhere between 30-50. Jason Taylor has said we are looking for small forwards in the draft. Could be the small forward we need?

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
âChoose to pay one of the most down-hill skiers in Motlop over $600k, yet have the audacity to completely initially low-ball Lever then run around like headless chooks to try and retain him, followed by a wave of abuse towards him when he accepts a better offer elsewhere. No wonder this club canât retain their players.â Look how similar my first sentence is with yours lol.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Brendan, did you just rip this from my Facebook comment on AFL SuperCoach? Legit word for word what I said in my opening sentence lol?
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Wow, Dwayne Russell really wants us to give up more than 10 + 27.. Absolutely cracking the sads on NAB Trade Radio.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
It seems Lever is pretty much a certainty to leave the Adelaide Football Club, but just thinking about after winning a flag with Adelaide would that make him more likely to leave now that he has won a premiership, or less likely? This question has sparked a bit of divided opinions with my mates. Thoughts? I say more likely.
