Why? Everyone is suggesting we trade 1st rounder + ANB for Lever. If the roles were reversed, and the Crows were offering a 1st rounder + a player of ANB's caliber for Oliver would we take it? Of course not. People need to take off their rose coloured glasses and start coming up with realistic trade options. Lever is a future captain, AA defender. Someone like Tyson is an accumulator with hardly any damaging disposals. It's a matter of need over want.

OUT: 1st round pick, Tyson IN: Lever, 2nd round. Something around that ball park should satisfy Adelaide.
-
100% agree. If Bontempelli was pulling Oliver's numbers this year the media would be wetting themselves with articles about him every fortnight.
-
Don't forget Gunston as well. They've lost a load of talent.

You know what's funny about this? The one time he didn't do that on the weekend, he got run down in the last quarter..#notfair

The Christian Salem or Nathan Freeman thread
Demon_JB replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's sometimes about reflecting on those picks we got right, as opposed to picks we got wrong, regardless if they are riddled with injury or not. This is a sporting entity within a professional league, it's not about being unsavoury. The club made the right call and I'm happy about that. -
The Christian Salem or Nathan Freeman thread

Freeman with another 6 week injury due to his team mate falling on his ankle. Yet to senior debut..You win some, you lose some in the draft. In this case we definitely won. Puts things into perspective when you look at all the 'could have hads' in the draft, yet we don't always stop and think the ones we dodged. -
We honestly can't catch a break. Hopefully nothing too serious and there isn't much swelling.

I never thought I'd be saying this, but I feel comfortable when ANB is hitting up a target. His vision is very good and his execution has improved out of sight. -
Where does Jack play today? He could do some damage has a medium sized half forward who can take a good overhead mark?

Need to come out and make a statement. Apart from the Doggies game, we have never been in control from the start. Allowing the opposition to kick themselves into a 3 goal lead by quarter time hurts us big time, especially with percentage playing a pivotal role to determine the top 8.

Question...Every time Brayshaw runs out onto the park, is this a case of one more concussion could mean the end of his career? Just thinking what that could mean for the mental side of things for young Gus. I know he likes to play tough, uncompromising footy however just worried that'll play a huge part in his form and him returning to his best when that's constantly shadowing him.

It's do or die games like these where we drop the ball. Everyone is bringing up things like breaking curses such as beating St Kilda, North, Etihad etc. Want to break a curse Melbourne? Win this crucial game where we are favourites!

You do not, I repeat.. do not spend that kind of money on a player. You build a premiership, not buy one. Would rather look at someone like a Lesley to fill that spot and develop him. Frost came cheap as chips and he has started to develop into a key back for us.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCHELL HANNAN

The kid is deceptively tall. The way he looks physically, and also the way he moves like a small forward. Very hard match up! -

"Yeah so you should with all your draft picks"
Demon_JB replied to Stevienic23's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hear and read this all the time. Unfortunately opposition supporters are so clueless, they are living in the days of when we drafted players such as Trengove, Scully, Morton, gysberts, Strauss, blease etc. No idea the turn over our list has and how many gems we have actually found late in the draft. You ask any one eyed opposition supporter what pick we got T mac, Harmes, Neal bullen, Hannan, Stretch etc they'd have said between 1-25. -
And who said Tommy Mac couldn't play forward!! Kicks a bag of 5 including the match winner. Goodwin, take a bow!!!
-
I think fans underestimate just how good Salem is. He has so many attributes it's scary how good this guy will be. Strong mark, elite kick, hard to beat 1 on 1, tough at it, tackles well. Apart from glaring speed, this guy is quite the package.

Melbourne, there is just so much to play for this game. Please, back yourselves in and learn to win these crucial games. I'm sick and tired of dropping games like this where we have everything to play for and the moment just drowns us like a massive wave. GET IT DONE DEES!!!!!!!!!!!

I reckon a helmet would probably help there. Maybe?

Why ask for stats on a game, then say you take 'zero notice' of a 47 stat disposal game?

I think his field kicking goes underrated here. Always seems to use the ball cleaning and lowers his eyes. He has had a few midfield stints which I was impressed with, would like to see him more in the centre around stoppages. -
Hannan really surprised me on the weekend. I'll put my hand up and say he was one I wanted to see come out of the team, however he proved to be one of our best players on the day. I was quite impressed with his body work 1:1, and his willingness to play on at every opportunity and create play. He set about about 3 goals with his smart decision marking and hitting up targets instead of blazing away. Good stuff Mitch, keep it up!

Free Kick Against Christian Salem in the last quarter
Demon_JB replied to solly21's topic in Melbourne Demons
In the third quarter, Petracca marks on the 50 metre arch against 2 North players, who subsequently went to ground and Petracca stayed up. He jumped over the player and was about to blitz and stream into what would have been an open goal. One of the North Players purposely tripped Petracca and help him back/dragged him to the ground, which was deemed a trip. I'm sorry, but how isn't something like this awarded a 50m penalty and not even looked at the MRP? If you intentionally trip someone who has the opportunity to stream clear, and you hold them up by tripping them, they should be suspended and the player should be awarded a 50m penalty.- 144 replies
