  1. Nah we just Geelong it. Starting next year Luke Jackson is the new part time high performance manager for Zurich insurance as well as the chief spokesperson for Grill’d. Surely one of our supporters has an extra beach house in Mount Martha we can gift him too?
  2. Wait but Kane Cornes says that our players clearly don’t love each other??? Weird to sign on for a decade if they all hate each other…I’m starting to wonder if maybe Kane is just a dumbass…? Surely not
  3. Fine by me. Kozzy is the most electric player in the country and I’m happy to buy a ticket to every game even if we’re [censored] just to watch him play
  4. Light work. See you all at the G on grand final day.
  5. Pies supporters on both sides of me in the office today. It is taking all my strength not to lose my temper. Pray for me.
  6. It genuinely boggles my mind that this hasn’t been how it is for years. I’ve found it increasingly difficult not to get conspiratorial when everyone goes “hey let's make the people who are meant to uphold the integrity of our multi billion dollar professional sporting league adequately paid and trained so they can do their job fairly and effectively?” And the AFL just goes “uh…nah.”
  7. After his performance today I do want to let you all know that The Cult of Disco Turner is accepting applications for new members.
  8. What infuriates me is when we see a display like that and then it’s not a story in any media outlets afterwards. Everyone just goes back to pretending like the umpiring is acceptable and it didn’t have a massive impact on the outcome. Or they cite free kick count as if the where and when of the free kicks isn’t the most essential part
  9. It is driving me away from the sport.
  10. Perfect day for it. Dees by 100.
  11. Is BT an Essendon supporter? Or did he maybe have a little bump of something at half time?
  12. I am absolutely loving the positive vibes on here tonight! Glad to see everyone is so optimistic about selection and not at all already enraged a full 20 hours before bounce!
  13. Sharp, Laurie and AJ out Roo, Howes, Kolt in
  14. I have no idea whether the loading stuff is true or not. I joined the loading cult because the leader was convincing and it provides me some small amount of hope/cope. Plus they give out free snacks at our weekly cult meetings.
  15. Devil’s advocate because I broadly agree with the sentiment: I tend to give these players a lot more leeway given that normal workers also don’t put their body through what these guys do every week. If someone offered me 700k a year before tax for 5-10 years and then they told me there was a decent chance I’d have lasting mobility issues and potentially even lifelong brain damage, I’m not so sure I’d take that job.
  16. The only positive is this probably allows further healing for the brain after the concussion.
  17. I mean, I’m pretty optimistic and think we are a chance against the Pies but after turning around the season and winning 5/7 you want Goody fired if we don’t beat the most in form team in the competition?? Seems reasonable…
  18. This entire thread is just so perfectly Demonland
  19. Bombing it long isn’t the gameplan—it’s just unfortunately what some of our senior players revert back to when they panic under pressure when we’re losing.
  20. …until yesterday we had won 5 out of our last 6 including a win at The Gabba against the reigning premiers who remain a top 4 side. Given the first 5 weeks of the year and evolving our game style, it’ll be really difficult to make finals but we also get to watch a ton of really exciting under 25 talent on iur list who will continue to learn and grow and get better. We lost a game. The goal kicking was horrendous. Progress isn’t linear.
  21. Yeah I don’t disagree but I think Goody and co are well aware that we simply do not have that many accurate kicks on our list and we also lack any traditional dominant forwards. So efficiency without those two things is nearly impossible and therefore the only way we can compete is via volume. **with that said, the goalkicking yesterday was shocking to the point that we could’ve had 10 more opportunities in that second half and I’m not sure we would’ve had more than one or two goals more.
  22. You increase the volume of opportunity. To put it back into footy terms, you try to implement a gameplan which creates a plethora of goalkicking opportunities for your side so even if you miss a lot (like against Sydney) you make enough to still beat the fewer number of opportunities your opponent will get.
  23. That’s not how this works… A gameplan is about team tactics and can only go so far as to create opportunities to score. We have had plenty of opportunities to score every single week. Goalkicking is about the individual and is incredibly hard to re-teach to professional athletes who’ve been doing it a certain way their entire lives.
  24. That’s fantastic news I’ll call the footy club tomorrow and let them know they should expect your resume
