Optimistic about the future, excited to watch our young guys develop. If King’s new gameplan is solid, I think somewhere between 9-14th on the ladder feels about right for next year but if things go really well in terms of injuries and young guys taking a step forward, I could see us competing for 7-8th.

This thread was a lot of fun and (for the most part) lacked a lot of the vitriol that is unfortunately pretty common on Demonland. Wish it had worked out but the inclusion of the 2026 first rounder, plus signing CJ and Steele, makes it all sting a bit less.

I have a special distain for Sam Mitchell and Hawthorn so this is a hilarious outcome.

What is this even supposed to mean

Sydney told him to explore his options. In no world is he worth a first round pick—we can swoop in and offer a 3rd rounder.

If we don’t get BH this year, we probably aren’t going to get him at all. Right now we have some leverage with something GC wants, and BH just wants to get back to VIC. Next year we will have nothing GC wants, and BH will probably want to go to any number of bigger, more enticing VIC clubs.

There is something objectively hilarious about all of us sitting here waiting to hear gossip from some random dude on an internet forum who may or may not talk to a guy at a bbq tomorrow. Loving this binfire of a club does weird things to a person…

If this doesn’t work out and Trac goes for picks, I can’t decide whether I’ll feel bad for the new MFC regime or if I’ll be annoyed with them. I get that our plummeting membership numbers these last two years make it financially unviable to come out and say we’re doing a rebuild and that finals aren’t feasible. But coming out and fully saying that finals are the expectation only to then turn around and ship out two of our most significant players for (potentially) only picks is…not great.

I politely reject your suggestion as I have the patience of a toddler. I will continue irrationally checking this thread every hour or so for the next 9 days in hopes that something will have happened.

I think someone mentioned it a few days ago but aren’t St Kilda and Gold Coast not on the best terms atm given the whole “nepo babies” thing? Wouldn’t be surprised if GC try to screw them over
