We got a good run from the Umpires I thought considering it was over there.

Yeah I thought the maggots were very 'accomodating' today, surprisingly.

Still a few dodgy calls/non calls, but far few that I expected given what was at stake.

We did really well to keep the crowd quiet for most of the game.

How many 7m kicks are paid as marks these days? Anyone else noticing this?

Freo having a crack, the joy.

    Yes!

Umpires seem to be getting lazy. Paying marks early, paying short marks, allowing players to run too far without a bounce...etc

Maybe they should get back to umpiring the basic stuff instead of looking for and making all the dramatic calls

Nicholls just paid Boak a mark that was knocked out as soon as it hits his hands and the filth player got all ball.

Nicholls does that all the time.

Also a master of blowing the whistle to pay an uncontested mark BEFORE player has actually marked it, then paying it anyway or finding some other reason to give them a free when they drop it.

Nothing new. Had some aches and pains after Sunday’s game, will train Saturday and hopefully play Sunday.

What Max did say which concerned me a little bit is that these aches and pains were new to him as he doesn't usually get sore.

I just hope there is nothing more seriously lingering waiting to twang/snap/tear/break

  5. Just finished watching the game now. How bad are the Eagles supporters. Standing ovation for Gaff when he comes off. Same again when they all got round him after his final 1/4 goal.

After Biggs hit we (for the most part) all sat around thinking what [censored]. Certainty didnt applaud it!

    Jones - an outstanding game

    Hogan - prolific and valuable

    Harmes - continued great form

    Garlett - enjoyed the freedom

    Oliver - best afield again

    Petracca - regularly outmanoeuvred opponents

Neal- Bullen - hard ball gets

    Spargo - did just enough

    Brayshaw - dynamic and creative

    Salem - safe and steady

    T.McDonald - was surprisingly limited

    Fritsch - continues to impress

    VanDenBerg - finding his feet

    Frost - confident and convincing

    Gawn - not his best

    Jetta - impressive when required

    Kennedy - Harris - a borderline pass

    Lewis - a standard game

    O.McDonald - was rarely required

    Smith - history repeats itself

    Tyson - impressive ,rarely wasteful

    Vince - was never assured

    ???

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit!

  7. Good to see Nicholls helping out the Cats with their warm up. Did three centre bounces for their mids/rucks, then ran all around their clearance work on the wing jabbering away. Even stuck his arm out to pay a mark for the leading forward.

    Fmd!

Been watching the soccer lately and the simplistic rules makes it so clear cut when officiated with only fouls, handballs and offsides that really need to be looked at.

Almlst every AFL game I watch now it seems the umpiring is a topic of dicussion one way or another and is this due to the difficulty and complexity of our game.

Right now our umpires need to look for a shitload of different things which makes it extremely difficulty to adjudicate accurately with so many rules.

Is it time for our game to be simplified opposed to adding more and more rules like they are currently doing every year?

Alex Rance would disagree, but I would hope the officiating of fouls in the AFL stays as far away from soccer as possible
