I also have FOMO - fear of missing out when we do decide to play properly and get a win....guarantee the one game I decide to skip the boys will have a glorious victory

    Same

Still kicking myself for staying at home for the 2008 game vs Fremantle. Haven't missed a match since.

Edit...  OMac & JWag in for Viney & Weid

Yesterday on the radio, can't remember if it was a random talkback numpty or the in-house "monday's expert" but they said ... "the public go to see the stars ... and pay good money too ... surely we want the star players out there and not in the coaches box watching?!"

I wonder how deeply the AFL and their minions have bought into this fallacious line of thinking.

No one's arguing with that. But no one's laughing either.

Luke Darcy was saying the same thing this morning.

Getting a downgrade to one week was a "good result" because we "all want to see the stars of the game playing"...

    Deadset joke.

  3. These threads are depressing and I have no desire to read all 9 pages.

2nd quarter aside we were total crap, but I can only hope someone has raised the absolutely disgraceful umpiring, again.

How many 50/50 calls did they get (that we didn't!) that directly resulted in goals?

I don't get all the love for Preuss - he really has shown nothing to warrant selection in an AFL team so far at Melbourne

Simply being big doesn't equate to much at all - in fact, it is likely to be a big liability if he isn't marking, isn't chasing, isn't kicking goals etc.

Not saying Gawny doesn't deserve a backup but Preuss would be behind Keilty for mine at this stage

    +1

Preuss is not match fit. Yes it was @#$%ing hot in Shepparton but he was cooked 3/4 of the way through the FIRST quarter, FFS.

AND he dropped everything that came his way.

Defintely not the answer to our current problems.

When are umpires going to learn to be seen and not heard?

They are there to officiate the game, not be a part of it, FFS!

Sick of watching a game or attending a game and the umpires being a major talking point afterwards.

Given how disastrous this transportation situation is I’m revising down to 26,187

Admittedly i drove, so don't know, but is the transportation situation today any different to Thursday night (85,000) or last night (78,000)?

  7. If there are any Telstra mobile/home internet/home phone/foxtel customers out there, you can get cheap $20 tickets to pretty much any game you like, via the "Telstra thanks" offers.

Sometimes tickets are in AFL members, sometimes GA.

As of a few mins ago, there are still GA tickets available down at the cattery. I got a couple but could have purchased up to 10

  8. Didn't want to start a new thread...

Having rewatched last years final vs Geelong, one thing I'm looking forward/hoping to seeing some progress on is putting teams away.

    5.2 at 1/4 time.

6.13 plus a couple out on the full and multiple missed chances at 3/4 time.

We had them on toast most of the game but lacked the killer punch.

Even though I know what happened in the 4th it was still frustrating as hell.

    Bring on Saturday!!
