Jake Melksham returning
I’m still annoyed that his screamer wasn’t paid. So obviously a mark. His running patterns today opened up our forward line. And he showed last year that he can adapt it depending on the defence. I think it really clicked for him last year and it looked like he was enjoying making the other forwards look good as well. A big Welcome Back Melky!

I wouldn’t be surprised if the camera/tech crew and umpires just swapped jobs for a day for [censored] and giggles.

CASEY: Rd 15 vs Brisbane Lions
We played too small in the midfield and defence. Considering they had 3 good AFL midfielders, and 3x 6ft8 ruck/forwards, we were too short. Midfielders running to defensive spot. Leaving Brisbane midfielders to get our taps. Is there a plan? Forwards were all together. No space to lead into. Ensures defence can cover with 3rd man up. also, is there a plan? Can’t handball Defence constantly getting in each other’s way. Nobody left on the ground to rove. If I was Yuki Tsunoda, I might say that the umpires were “[censored] retarded” but that’s not very nice. So I’m just left wondering what did Kyah do in particular? He must have a particularly foul mouth and nasty disposition to put them so offside.

Just watching the replay now. Had to laugh when the commentator said they have their superstar tech team with them today. Camera work was woeful. The horizon at -10° is doing my head in. Didn’t they notice that the goalposts were sloping a bit?

So was it Hustwaite and Connelly that were out for the season, (injured in the state game?), and who was the 3rd? I’ve had a search but I can’t find anything about the injury list. But we are really missing some big bodies in the midfield Sorry, I’ve lost it.

Caddy is a bit like Morris but might weigh 10kg less than Jeffo. Just saying.

If anyone can, Jakey can. Love the intensity he brings to the group. Fullo needs to grasp the opportunity if he gets it. But if not now, then when? It’s still only 22+1 players (when will it be 23?) Any backup for Max must be able to hold down their own place independently and add to the team’s contest. Can’t just be there to pick and choose when to put it on the line or to look pretty.

I like the idea of putting Melky straight in: 1. The recovery sessions that these guys do are far harder than regular training. 2. Pretty sure he would not have cut any corners. 3. Can’t see any benefit in sending him to Brisbane to play in the seconds for a week. 4. Watched West Coast’s insipid defence last week. If he wants to get some form, this is the team to start on. Hope he goes really well – hope for the best, plan for all possibilities. Woey will probably be the sub, and may come on for him in the case of limited minutes anyway.
