POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Fremantle
This sums me up, Man is sometimes extraordinarily, passionately, in love with suffering. Nothing in this world is harder than speaking the truth, nothing easier than flattery. Much unhappiness has come into the world because of bewilderment and things left unsaid. Right or wrong, it's very pleasant to break things from time to time.

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Fremantle
Itās difficult to rank players or believe their outside ratings when they donāt know or understand the roles the players have been given. It looks to me like these roles allow other players to play other parts - dropping off, intercepting, rolling through half forward etc. Having said that, quite a few of those roles were null and void because freo were allowed to run unchecked through the midfield. I donāt think Fullarton would have made a difference, but I think Verrall might have negated some of their many hits to advantage. It was just putting our defence on the back foot immediately following stoppage. No defence can withstand that onslaught.

NON-MFC: Round 19
Just a blatant lack of understanding of the situation. Bump, yes, but not when you should be contesting the ball. Should be the same as contesting a ground ball - a duty of care for the player in a vulnerable position. Could also apply to Guldenās tunnel on Berry, but at least he pretended to go for the ball.

CASEY: Rd 17 vs Frankston
Another thought. Perhaps it would be better for his development if Adams was put on a half back flank, or wing? He almost won the grand final sprint last year, so heās obviously pretty quick. And he has a decent boot. I just think that competing with Tomlinson, Turner, Hore, Howes and Schache, probably isnāt that great for his development.

A little bit harsh, maybe? I thought he was one of the only defenders that tried to defend a player. The rest were basically accumulating intercept marks. Consequently, a lot of dolphin goals were over the back. He did run through one of their guys in the middle of the ground early in the third quarter. You donāt usually hear the sound of a hit that loud. Might have copped an injury then. Saw something different with Kentfield yesterday. One of their enforcers tried to rough him up after he fairly tackled a player. Not sure exactly (because of the rain) but I thought I saw him flip the guy over and connect with a few left and right crosses. All of a sudden the tough guy was trying to make peace. But, as I say, I couldnāt really be sure. Overall, I thought they played a good, tough brand of wet weather footy. Couldāve been a lot smarter with it though.

Looked pretty miserable early, but then in the third quarter, it really got nasty. Had trouble seeing the players and the rain was coming in sideways. They turned on the lights, but it didnāt make a lot of difference. I remember a game in the 80s when we had to run undercover from the golf ball size hail and lightning. Both teams and umps did it simultaneously. Self-preservation.

NON-MFC: Round 19
Yeah. Donāt need to worry about the drainage or over use. Just look at the stands. Arenāt they pretty? If the crows or weagles admin have any balls, they should demand the surface be improved or they can host the match. Geelong are relying on it being their right to host games but they can get stuffed or forfeit.

NON-MFC: Round 19
Absolutely. But I like him more than last year. Thereās always room for an annoying little [censored] that gets under the skin of the opposition. I donāt think we have one at present or they havenāt quite learned to channel their inner bastard.

English? Can definitely play forward.

NON-MFC: Round 19
Nope. Cats gotta lose. Every game at that hole.

Cumming could be a possibility - even better with Callaghan or Ash. Huston has been found wanting for pace - better to go for Bergman. Hobbs and Parish should be gettable. Maybe even Judith Durham? Nobody wants to stay around the stench coming from that place. WA players returning could be prioritised - they should know by now that the shocking surface at Opium Stadium is only going to damage their careers.

ALL GROUNDS NEED TO BE SIGNED OFF BEFORE PLAY. What an absolute load of [censored]! Waiting and hoping some poor bastard doesnāt break a leg on that surface. No matter how many fancy stands they (state gov) build, itās still geelong You canāt polish a š©

CASEY: Rd 17 vs Frankston
There was really no idea or strategy for playing in a wet and windy game. Should have put at least 1 player behind the ball in the 2nd quarter. Only a few players know how to pick up the ball in the wet. Midfielders mainly too small. Bell did well, but didnāt really get any control in the centre - I wouldnāt like to see him against Meek.

Apparently he was yelling directions from the boundary. Must be Frankās coach now?

CASEY: Rd 17 vs Frankston
Always a dodgy strategy when you donāt score with the wind. Kicking as far as you can is also a bit over rated. Actually think that the umpires are better at this game than those from last night.

Are contested possessions a 'key indicator of success'?
Nice article. Thanks for sharing. I never look at contested ball, just hb gets. I always thought loose ball should be put with uncontested marks as they are almost the same thing except inviting pressure.

NON-MFC: Round 19
There are no ābest of timesā for that team. Only āworst of timesā. Did I just hear Brad Scott say, ā it is better to lose in oneās own way, than to win in somebody elseāsā?
