  1. Great work by Riv! Need a Breakout game in the centre from him.
  2. Sparrow needs to bring more of that tackle back again. But not that kicking.
  3. Hope Max makes Xerri and the whole NM suburb pay.
  4. If Tommo isn’t playing, he starts going alright. Probably best to move Tommo somewhere else to let Adams develop. I would put Tommo into the centre for more body size and cleaner delivery to the forwards. It might also add another string to his bow.
  5. Well, that was disappointing.
  6. I was enjoying this match until I realised we play the boners next week.
  7. I couldn’t spot anything that hasn’t been said already. I guess he’s got some cachet in the W.A. market? Probably even more after his destruction of the baggers. As far as culture goes, it can be helped along greatly by some players who hold things together. I would have Gus and Grundy in that group. It still disappoints me that we could not make it work with both rucks on the field. Having Lever missing for a few weeks has not helped matters either.
  8. Which players are possibly open to a good offer? More like a wish list. Ideally Age 22-25 , high impact, experienced, returning Victorian? Dissatisfied with currentteam/prospects? Just scratching the surface though I’m sure to have included or missed something obvious. Some high cost/value, others cheaper but may not offer much. Mainly speed - mids and forwards. Have not included any rucks as I believe it will be difficult to attract any after last year until Max actually retires. (grouped in clubs, possibility and by quality of the group) Serong, Young, Brayshaw, Butters, Drew, Bergman, Davies-Uniake, Holmes Callaghan, Ash, Taranto, Baker, Short, Ross, Graham Dale, Richards, Smith Sinclair, King, Rayner, Walsh, Curnow Parish, Hobbs, King, Humphrey, Ballard, Couldn’t find too many from these teams: Coll, Haw, WC, Adl.

  10. I don’t know that anyone can be called a failure, as no one has really been tried. Even Woey and Bill only get a try as sub for 5min of game time and then back to the VFL.
  11. Certainly he has and could have been, although many teams had very mixed results with their picks back then and I remember there was some scandal with Darling at the time that I won’t go into here. Possibly a set up by WCE.
  12. 200cm doesn’t seems to be a problem for many AFL rucks… Nankervis, Grundy, Marshall, O’Brien, De Koning, Stanley, Briggs,… Many of these did not get a chance until they were 22–23, Grundy and Stanley being the exceptions. The ruck contests in the current game are more about body strength than pure leap. Especially with the changes this year.
  13. A bit of both. Collingwood has a ridiculous number of injuries atm - about 7 AFL starting line up plus 15 more from this VFL side. So it’s a wonder that any of them knew any of their teammates names. Also no doubt that the Casey AFL inclusions helped balance the side. However, it makes you wonder how some of the players will develop when they are playing 3rd string in defence, attack, or ruck? Some are only getting half a game.
  14. Much better game today from White. I was pretty harsh on him last week but he really showed the way for the younger guys (everyone else?) and put his body on the line rather than trying to do too much finessing with the ball. A blunt instrument is sometimes just as useful as a scalpel. As long as you’re not trying to do the job of one thing with the other. Thought Sestan’s work today was very good. Could possibly be a future Swiss Army knife? AMW also deserves a mention. I don’t know if there is a place for McAdam in the A’s if he doesn’t improve his defensive capabilities/intent. We know the skill is there, but at the moment it’s all about scoring. Similarly, Fullarton had 2 goals kicked against us by sneaking forward and competing with BBB in the air, hoping for a sneaky goal. The ball was easily rebounded as the Collingwood midfield was wide open. Tholstrup definitely played better this week. The past few weeks he’s been guilty of trying to do too much, a bit like White, which has seen him get caught HTB. Would like to see him take a leaf out of Sestan’s book and find leading options in the forward line.
  15. I don’t think there is any doubt that BBB is the best forward out of the 3 and is in the best form, but there are questions about his ability to give Max a break in the ruck. Likewise Fullarton needs to show more in the contest - that is stopping him from playing A’s. Might need to work a little on his defensive side of the game. Verrall has shown ability in the ruck but probably needs to get a bit more desperate in attacking the ball in the air. Has done a few nice blocks for others today in the forward line. Looks to me like he just has his shin guard strapped in place, but happy to be told I’m wrong.
  16. Yeah, I was thinking that. Looked like they were planning for a Business Trip and an Acid Test but somebody got mixed up and it’s all a blur after the plane.
  17. Look at when Casey #28 was rucking against Coburg #14. They had to change their main ruck out after Verrall had 5-6 in a row. Their 2nd guy was just crash and bash - mainly against Fullarton as he was doing 70+% ruck time today. Thought you were there?
  18. Surely you 2 are taking the [censored]? Sure, Mitch is a good midfield bull, but his disposal recently just [censored] me to tears. 90% of his possessions today either went directly to the opposition, or clean over the Casey’s players head, or at his feet. Either way, he is a liability in the middle unless he can kick it long so that the turnover will not be in their (opp) forward half. Otherwise he should be doing a blocking role so that the other midfielders can run onto the ball. There is absolutely no cohesion in the midfield atm. It’s looked like most of the midfielders are just letting the opp have front position to the hit zone. Then they are getting pushed under the drop zone, and it’s an easy take away for the opposition outside mids. Also, Verral absolutely slaughtered their ruck today but was only given 30% time in the middle at best??? Guess they’re just trying to get Fullarton AFL ready with more responsibility in the middle.
  19. Howes not getting too close to Corleone. Doesn’t want to wake up to a horses head in the bed?
  20. VFL umpires didn’t receive the email re HTB this week?
  21. Glad to see they are back to their old tricks of keeping the scores over the play after the break
  22. Tholstrup has finally realised that Verrall is right-handed. Things are looking up? No – just in time for Fullarton to go back into ruck
  23. He could be at the game, or trying to sort out accommodation.
  24. Just an average player made to look good by a total lack of defensive intent.
  25. This has gone on long enough. I would spend the first 10 minutes of half time getting the midfielders doing sprints across the centre square. Maybe some ground pick ups and handballs both sides just to see their hands are working. The Experiment with Fullarton starting in ruck needs to stop and he should be HFF. Even if he hits it, he doesn’t know where it’s going.
