Arm chopping and blocking in marking contests
Before that year, it was open season on punches to the back of the arms/hands, and general sideswipes taking out the head as well. This was also the year that they introduced the 10 m circle for the CB contest – presumably to stop the Ruckmen from running and jumping for the tap - one of the ancient highlights of the game, and introduce the CB wrestle, which everybody loves today.

Can we talk about Kolt?
I can’t believe people are complaining about his fitness. Or his speed. I seem to remember that he finished quite well at the combine – so I found the 2023 results. Here they are. Bear in mind that this was from 2 years ago, so he has probably improved even with interrupted training. He would be right at the top end of our 2KM trial, probably just behind Sharp. Pretty sure none of the commentators on here can run a 6.17? 2km time trialTarkyn O’Leary (Sandringham Dragons/Parkdale Vultures) - 5 minutes, 48 seconds Darcy Wilson (Murray Bushrangers/Wangaratta Rovers) - 5:52 Ethan Read (Gold Coast Suns Academy/Palm Beach Currumbin) - 5:56 Jordan Croft (Calder Cannons/Maribyrnong Park) - 6:05 Caiden Cleary (Sydney Swans Academy/Sydney University) - 6:06 Aiden O’Driscoll (Perth/Northam Saints) - 6:06 Archie Roberts (Sandringham Dragons/Hampton Rovers) - 6:08 Connor O’Sullivan (Murray Bushrangers/Albury) - 6:11 Joel Freijah (GWV Rebels/Horsham Saints) - 6:13 Harvey Johnston (Sandringham Dragons/Parkdale Vultures) - 6:17 Koltyn Tholstrup (Subiaco/Newtown Condingup) - 6:17 AgilityLance Collard (Subiaco/North Beach) - 8.157 seconds Koltyn Tholstrup (Subiaco/Newtown Condingup) - 8.194 Angus Hastie (Geelong Falcons/Geelong West Giants) - 8.204 Bodie Ryan (Glenelg/Brighton) - 8.208 Zane Zakostelsky (Claremont/North Beach) - 8.233 Ashton Moir (Glenelg/Plympton) - 8.244 Reece Torrent (Peel Thunder/Halls Head) - 8.260 Darcy Wilson (Murray Bushrangers/Wangaratta Rovers) - 8.263 Aiden O’Driscoll (Perth/Northam Saints) - 8.302 Nate Caddy (Northern Knights/Yarrambat) - 8.331

Can we talk about Kolt?
Kolt, Brown, and Windsor are all having the same problem – they are too worried about what they are going to do with the ball before they get it. They are taking their eyes off the ball before they have controlled it completely. That leads to fumbling and inviting added pressure which makes things more difficult. Get them into some meditation and Zen thoughts to be in the moment. Omm

Thank Christ they’re not umpiring.

No idea what Verrall did to get that free. A bit the same as The free to Conway 2 CB ago.

Interesting there – not differentiating between a tunnel, and the forward player just running under the ball??

CASEY: Rd 16 vs Werribee
Great! Now they know about deliberate out of bounds. But they’ve forgotten about front on contact. Limited RAM, I guess?

CASEY: Rd 16 vs Werribee
Yeah, we usually have 6X 195 cm plus in the forward line. Tonight we’re trying 3X 175 cm. I swear that you were in the goal square just before.

Werribee do like kicking it to him.

A lot of the runners are getting burned. Seriously Jibba? Who the [censored] was that kick to? Wouldn’t have hurt to have another handball to one of the three runners? This happened at least three times during the quarter.

I love it when umpires don’t know the rules.🙄

Fair goal that from Darcy 😳

Not all emergencies are created equal. Usually two will be carryover/travelling emergencies. Having said that, it is a reasonable possibility that Max might need a break – perfect opportunity to give TC a run against Xerri.

NON-MFC: Round 18
Doubt it. He’s been a bit better over the last year – since they played him back for a few games last year. Thought I heard a dodgy comment last night about him having an Eric–tion during a purple patch in the second quarter. Not sure how that went to air, if in fact I heard it correctly.

CASEY: Rd 15 vs Coburg
I think it was around 40 minutes last week, and probably about the same this week. I will say that I have not seen the replay as yet, as I was at the AFL game. Someone told me today that Verrall and Fullarton were doing extra runs around Casey to make up for lack of minutes – the same as they needed to do last week after the game against Gold Coast. I would guess that the FD has requested that TC was given an intense loading as he missed the previous game against Essendon – and then of course we all had a bye. It looks like he is their second banana in case Gawn gets injured. The only problem being that he is also 34, and has had 2x Soft tissue injuries this year so far. I wouldn’t be confident on him not doing another one in an intense AFL game. Not sure why both players could not have been on the field at the same time a bit more often? Especially with JVR and Jeff in the firsts.

Here’s an idea. Why not play one of the 2 actual rucks that are in the twos? The forward line stuff up happened after we tried to put every man and their dog through the ruck position. Then it’s been, “ oh he competes well,” or “he gives us something around the ground”. Meanwhile, they are either not in the forward line, or they’re too buggered when they get back there.- POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide
This picture tells the story absolutely. Timeline 1: 11:44. On the replay for those playing along at Home. I was sitting right behind Lever here. Harvey was pleading for him to give the handball over the top, which, you can see, would have resulted in a beautiful overlap down the wing and probably a goal. We still had them on the ropes at this stage, and needed to play fast and put their back line under pressure. That’s how we kicked the first five goals of the second quarter. Jake has no confidence in himself and his decisions/skills. Instead of the handball, which would’ve been easy, he kicked backwards to Disco who then kicked it back to him – for him to just bomb it long to a contest. It looks like the Young players know what is required – it is mainly the old heads that need a good kick in the [censored].- CASEY: Rd 15 vs Coburg
Unfortunately I think Jeff is a 2nd/3rd tall - think Gunston type. Problem is we don’t have a first or second tall.- CASEY: Rd 15 vs Coburg
Exactly the opposite. Keep him the hell away from Selwyn - I’m convinced he doesn’t know what the [censored] he’s doing. It’s a plot to ruin us by putting him here. The only ones playing any good are the ones that didn’t do a preseason with him.- GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs Adelaide
