Even if his foot totally mended, his fitness would be well behind the group. Can't see him back for a few weeks.
Match fitness yes. However, Key Forwards can gain what is required quicker then the rest of the groups.
I'd expect his overall fitness to be getting pretty close.
-
All I got from a snippet on the news was that he won't be seeing him before the first few rounds of the season.
I'd imagine he would mean you wont see him in the NAB Cup. As publicly stated, he has always aimed for Round 1 and I would imagine he/fitness staff would be doing everything to make sure he is there. Round 1 is the start of a new era for the MFC, and as long as he doesn't have any setbacks, he will be playing.
From all his/the clubs tweets, it seems like he is tracking ahead of round 1, but they wont rush it.. as they shouldn't

Mitch Clark loves the Dees. Relevantly he has also played at another AFL club, and has otherwise been in the system for a while. He has expressed his strong desire to spend the rest of his career at the club, which I've no doubt he will.
Hogan is 17 years old. He is literally still a kid. I expect he would still be quite impressionable.
With Clark as a mentor to him at such an early/pivotal age, I don't expect Hogan would ever want to leave the club. He should hopefully be programmed perfectly over the next couple of years - in fact, I expect he would dream of lining up next to Clark in big finals with the club in the years to come.
Does not strike me as a Scully situation here. Not even remotely.
Clark is the perfect fit.
Jones would be close, but Clarks ability to compare lions to the dees would be valuable to Hogan too.
Calm down kids.

No, dont you understand the system?
If pick 26 is taken off us then we will just use pick 49. The bidding is done and dusted, Port bidded pick #7 and we said we would use our next available pick (Regardless of what it is).
Understand the system fine.
But the system is done and finished.
We used 27, its now gone.
Why would the afl say, "ok, lets open up the FS bidding again just for Melbourne" even after a harsh penalty.. wouldn't make sense
-
I am starting to doubt the security of JV.
IF we are found guilty and IF that punishment is before the 22nd, then taking away our first and second round draft picks will force JV back into the draft.
We gave up 26 for him, and then 26 was taken away. So we have no choice on the matter.
If the AFL are that harsh on us as a penalty, why would they bother saying "oh by the way, lets do the father son process all over again before the draft"
Scary times ahead for the whole club and its supporter base.
-
Have it on good authority, that the penalty will be coming down Nov 19th.
Do you think this is appropriate.
Adelaide Crows to be fined $300,000 AND LOSS OF 1ST Round AND 2ND Round PICKS IN UPCOMING DRAFT.
Kirk Tippett to be suspended NAB Cup and FIRST 6 Games of the 2013 AFL Season.
Player Manager Peter Bulcher to befined $100,000 , DELISTED for the 2013 season and all contracted players to Mr.Bulcher to be managaed by the AFL (Mr.Bulcher may re-apply after the 2013 season)
This is from bigfooty, and this post is from an adelaide supporter.
So our faith will decide in 19th too, if this is true
Where at all does this mention Melbourne?
How will OUR faith be decided on this date?

Anyone down there for big mitchs run?

Jon Ralph, Robbo and Caro have all been spammed with questions around Viney and what happens if we lose 27.
None of them have answered, because simply I dont think they know.
There is no precidence for this situation, so whatever the AFL do, will be completely new.
IF we are found 'guilty', lets hope we can challenge and prolong the issue and possible sanctions
-
So is it almost safe to say that:
If we are found guilty, we will lose picks in the 13, 14 drafts possibly? Too hard for our list to gather the required numbers without the ND?
-
The rule is as stated on the AFL's own website: http://www.afl.com.a...px?newsid=66411
'If a bid is made, the club that nominated the father-son player must use its next available selection if it wishes to retain its hold on that player'.
Thus, if the AFL takes 27 off us, we'd just have to use our next pick, whatever that is, and we'd still have him.
Thanks TU
There is a large grey area due to the bidding already completed, and if we lose 4 and 27.. no chance of them saying " bad luck, game on for Viney now "?
-
Sorry if this has already been addressed, SMH reported that if we lose our first and second round picks.. Viney would be gawn?
I thought as long as we had a pick in the draft, we can still take him.
He has also signed a contract I believe?
-
Looked like Wattsy and Rodan did the same times.
-
This is crap..
Personally, I don't think the AFL will say:
"Oh Hey Jack, sorry your not allowed to play for your fathers club due to a decision made by some people 5 years ago at your club, have fun at the doggies mate!"
"Oh Hey Jesse, your back in the AFL draft system, say thanks to Mitch Clark for housing you and making your transition smooth.. Have fun at GWS or Port"
"Dawes, go back to Collingwood"
If we get stung, I think it will be for the up coming AFL drafts

Mind you, Jim Stynes, Tadgh Kenneally and, more recently, Mike Pyke show that successful code swapping is possible.
Of course, we may be drawing the wrong conclusion. Media conference might be to say Folau has extended his contract.
What? to ten years? haha

PERFECT! This takes the attention off us for a while!

The amount of love I have the bloke is ridiculous. Best thing that has happened to our club in the last 6 years.

I don't think his 'match fitness' was the issue there. Trav Cloke or Tom Hawkins aren't spending their time/energy in the backline getting the footy. But agreed, lets hope someone else can find the footy down there
