  1. The Blues now have Jack Martin & Matt Owies off the books. Looks like Carlton are not going for Houston now. Weitering signed away to a long-term deal. Might just have some cap space for a big fish 🤔 Pick 3 and Kennedy for Trac perhaps? [kevlar helmet back on ...] 😊
  2. Yeah Nah ... Jacob Weitering just signed and extension to stay a Blue until the end of 2031. Honestly, I think it depends on the player. Some I feel comfortable signing long-term, most I don't. Medical retirements are another issue that needs some type of specific regime created.
  3. If the Dees can end up with 5 & 9 that is a great outcome 👍 I wouldn't be wanting to move further up in this draft.
  4. I suspect that 1 first round pick will be for the draft and the other used in a trade ... we will see ...
  5. Carlton's 12 + 14 on tracc for a big signing perhaps?? [dives for the foxhole] 😁
  6. Could be a solid pick up, not easy getting games at the Lions 👍
  7. Seems like the Pies are going all in to try for another flag now. They will be in bad shape when Tassie sucks out the best of the draft and trade market in a few years time.
  8. I have no knowledge of brand valuations and their methodology but here is a link if anyone is interested: https://brandirectory.com/methodology I would say that MFC does certainly have some additional value as a brand as it has the name 'Melbourne' and also has the history of being the original foundation football club for the code itself.

No, he is looking at retirement. He is contracted at Carlton until the end of next year. Next year will be Wright's CEO training year under Cook. Might be good for CFC if he could stay on as a consultant post 2025 though but I understand he no longer wants to work full time after next year.
  10. Houston wants to head to Princes Park. He had a good relationship with Voss at Port Adelaide, is close friends with Jack Silvagni and was a Blues supporter growing up but Carlton aren't throwing everything at it and are juggling many balls (as you do in trade period). He would be a handy addition but ultimately it is about what it costs you.
  11. No one should take Sam McClure seriously. Using the word "journalist" in the same sentence as him is not advisable. Clarry with be at MFC next season and I am tipping he comes back with some good form in season 2025.
  12. You sir are getting a Christian Petracca CFC bobble-head for Christmas next year (2025) 🎅😁 Actually, wasn't Weiters a Demons supporter growing up?
  13. "Very odd" has a somewhat negative connotation, I would prefer milder synonyms like "quaint" or "unique", like my interest in Corsican sheeps milk cheese 😁 I have said it here before, the Dees are my "second team", I do watch all their games, mostly on tv but occasionally live and have even been an MFC member the last few seasons. I was even thinking of getting a Demonland t-shirt, like the design. Do they come in Navy Blue & White though?
  14. Thank you DeelightfulPlay, I hope that I am a sensible counterpoint here at times ... #flaggers2025, #crippa-for-brownlow3, #baggers-threepeat, #CP5inNavyBlue 😁
  15. No, someone has to buy a Demons membership after the great microwave membership massacre of October 2024 😁
  16. He had a few average outings later in the season (no criticisms, to be expected for a youngster). It is not uncommon for 2nd year players to dip a bit as well mind you (before iproving again). We will see next season.
  17. I don't think its a case of Carlton wanting to push Owies out, think it is more a case of Owies seeking a larger salary on tne back of a good season. I suspect the Blues are happy to keep him if he re-signs on a similar amount to his current contract.
  18. Just the normal ups and downs any young, inexperienced footballer has. Takes time and some experience to build consistency.
  19. I still have some concerns about Voss. He has some good qualities but he can also be stubborn, play favourites with certain players and can get caught out with in game tactical shifts at times. Actually, I think je has a lot of similarities with Goodwin. Some additional tactical support for him wouldn't go astray. If the Blues don't make the top 4 this season I suspect Voss will be on the way out ...
  20. I think a quality tall defender to partner Weitering is more of a missing piece then a half back when we already have solid stocks there with Saad, Docherty (coming back from injury), McGovern, Boyd, young Cowan and young Ollie Hollands who can also play there. I know Houston is quality and his kicking into the forward 50 is what we want but if Weitering goes down our flag tilt is over before it starts. Now, Sam De Koning would fit into this jig-saw puzzle nicely IMHO ...
  21. ^^ he will be 28 years old next season.
  22. Most definitely. They are trying to push an outcome. It is as clear as day. MFC should be digging in their heels. Its not like there is another huge incoming star trade so the cap space is desperately needed right now. If a decent offer is not on the table Clarry should be playing with the Dees in 2025. If he needs to spend time at Casey, so be it. Another alternative path is that Clarry gets his act together, Trac is back and the Dees start next year well ... then who knows ...
  23. What are they smoking at Alberton, 1st round pick this year AND next year. Just not gling to happen, lol.
  24. If Clarry plays like he did this season the Dees won't be contending anyway. Early in the season he had a few good games. He was a passenger for the rest of the year and in some games he was a mere shadow of his former self. He isn't Clarry from 2021. I question if he will ever get back to that but if he can get back to 80 or 85% of the old Clarry in time, he is still a good footballer. Clarry isn't the first star sportsman to drive their sporting career into the ground due to outside factors, won't be the last. The real question is how disruptive is he to the rest of the squad, team dynamic? I have no insights into that ... 🤔
  25. Was talking about Owies to my cousins last night (fellow 'Baggers) and they were saying we might be exploring someone like Papley, yes he is a better forward and all round player but Papley has not stood up when it really counts, in a grand final! Despite some of his limitations Owies does actually kick goals regularly, consistently (which I quite like in a forward, lol). Reckon if he was in a grand final he could kick a couple and not go missing like some Swans "stars". We are hoping he stays in Navy Blue. Just give him another $100K and be done with it, he wants to remain in Navy Blue. If he does goes to the Dees, hope he kicks even more than this season to stick it to those at Princes Park that opened the door for him on the way out 😁
