  1. I got a $10 membership, the only expansion club I feel some positivity for. Hope the stadium issue gets sorted out.
  2. Loathe: Collingwood, Essendon, WCE & Adelaide Crows. Mild antipathy: Hawthorn & Brisbane Lions
  3. Seems as if the Helen d'Amico post was deleted but that was a vivid childhood memory for me 😁 The 1982 Grand Final was the first GF I remember watching a full game for the first time. As for the Crows, pretty disappointing, going backwards and that is fine with me. Geelong with a full complement can be a threat to anyone on their day. Injuries to a few key players blunt them significantly though.
  4. It was always a goal!! 😁 https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/carlton-blues/afl-2023-1979-vfl-grand-final-carlton-vs-collingwood-wayne-harmes-tap-in-new-footage-says-ball-was-in-video-latest-news/news-story/e5c255c44037b078e85ce58d736d7821
  5. True, but the effort/energy expended getting into the 8 after that horror run and missing out on a top 4 slot meant the Blues were not a realistic shot to go all the way in 2024.
  6. For sure ... however nothing is as horrifying as the spectre of a C'wood 'dynasty' ... that is looking like a fairytale now ... thank god! 🙏😁 Good effort by the Saints tonight and the Pies are looking very much like a mid table plodder side at the moment 😃
  7. There was 58K for the opening round game in in 2022. But that was the very first game of the season between the then two Grand Finalists from 2021. 44K for 1pm on a Sunday on a hot day seems like a decent turnout to me.
  8. I would have thought Hawthorn is more of a candidate to swap some MCG games out to Marvel. Reality is that Marvel has capacity constraints for the Blues now. Same will happen if Essendon were to be a contender again (may their stagnancy last another decade or two 😁)
  9. I went with my young son, we sat on Level 1 under the Level 2 overhang to get out of the blazing sun, many people did the same. Looked more sparse on tv than attending in person where we sat. Its early afternoon on a 30°C sunny day, people will sit in the shade.
  10. Liking the nod to tradition in the guernsey, the traditional State footy colours and the 'Devils' moniker 👍
  11. 44K is a solid crowd against the Doggies who are coming off a poor season. If it was at Marvel and a Doggies home game, probably get 30K there.
  12. Promotion/marketing seems to be pretty poor TBH. Next home match is Friday 5th April, Melbourne Rebels play Fijian Drua. The Fijians usually play open, attacking rugby so could be an entertaining match. https://melbournerebels.rugby/
  13. ^^ I tried that same procees several time last year, never worked for me. Frustrating. This season I got a Kayo membership via MFC and if I want to catch the odd live match when I can then I just buy a GA ticket. Planning on going tomorrow and taking my little son. He watched the Dees live once before, when Bluey payed a visit for the Adelaide Crows match last season, he still talks about that match 😁
  14. I am Demonland's resident Carlton supporter [ducks for cover, lol]. The Dees are my 'second team' that I do actively watch on tv and go to some live matches.
  15. I went to the MCG on Thursday night, early umpiring gifts for the Tigers, a spirited showing by them. The Blues were still good enough to win despite not being that polished. Harry McKay has had good set shot kicking for 2 games now! When Weitering, Walsh, Marchbank, Martin & Motlop become available for Carlton, they can step it up another notch or two. Caught some of Swans v Carringbush on tv last night. Swans looking switched on and polished with a quality midfield. Looks like the Pies didn't 'take the steps' in the preseason but opted for taking the escalator with a bong in hand instead. Loving their insipid start to 2024. A few more losses in the coming weeks (quite possible) could really dent their top 4 push 😃
  16. I had issues last season with my Demons 3 game membership, uninstalling/re-installing repeatedly never worked properly and I had to email MFC before each match I wanted to go to and they would email a separate ticket for me. My Blues electronic membership never had this issue (even if it was clunky at times). Odd as they appear to use the same software. Using a membership card for Blues and Rebels (Rugby) games this year and no issues at all, always works 😁
  17. Blues Swans Hawks GWS Saints Gold Coast Dees Port Dockers
  18. The Tiges are in for a long rebuild, not sure they have accepted that yet but that is their reality. They did get 3 Flags after 37 years in the wilderness so their fans shouldn't gripe too much.
  19. I don't know how sensible it was going that hard at Princes Park on a very hot night knowing an away trip to Sydney was up next.
  20. That was some comeback by the Blues away in Brisbane!
  21. With an inverted cross as the 'cup' and Slayer for the intro music 🤘😁 [I did go through a bit of a thrash metal phase as a teen] lol
  22. Just out of curiosity, anyone know who David S. supports in footy? 🤔
  23. Agree with all of that (I am a Glen Eira resident) and throw in a velodrome at Packer Park in Carnegie South and an Athletics stadium (with a host if adjacent netball courts) in Murrumbeena. Glen Eira is pretty well served with such infrastructure.
  24. Caulfield Racecourse redevelopment plans mentioned in todays Herald Sun. High quality new spectator and horse stabling areas discussed, nothing about other aspects of the RC redevelopment (like MFC training & admin facilities) in this article though.
  25. Hehe, not too bothered by results in pre-season games, just hoping both teams have a good workout but with no injuries.
