  1. Yeah i think King would be great and that scenario is probably spot on, King and Pick 17 (end up 19ish) for Pick 2. BUT i really think we also need to add more top end talent, so i think we would need to get back inside the top 10 somehow.. and to do that we would have to offer something pretty substantial, is that Brayshaw to carlton for pick 8?
  2. I will put my hand up and admit to being super critical of him this year, he just didn't do enough or lead well enough, but i love him and love what he has gone through and what he stands for. Good on him, lets be honest, its good positive news and he will reach 300 games and he deserves to and this great (it is great for all of its non greatness...) deserves to have more than just 1 player reach the 300 mark. Good on you Jonesy, i hope you prove me and a few others wrong.
  3. all good points LN, especially the bold sentence. I'm a fan of both and in the cold hard light of day, i think deep down i would prefer both to stay.
  4. I think though you would get more for Brayshaw than you would for Viney? isntt hat your agument LN? to get something, you gotta give something? Im a Jack Viney fan, putting that on the record and i have before, but i think Brayshaw's currency would be higher. I think Carlton would be very interested in Brayshaw to support Cripps now that they have missed out on Coniglio, do that trade, and have Picks 3 and 8 at the draft instead of 11 and 13, or split pick 3 for 11 & 13 and trade Brayshaw for pick 8 and then have 3 picks inside the top 15. Good hand?
  5. Hang on, the Saints havent even appointed their new coach yet.. sometimes things take time.
  6. 2 r's in Garry. Yeah im pretty sure he hasn't got it from here but maybe.. im pretty convinced Yze is a realistic chance to cross to the Dees and like you say, all will be revealed anyway in the coming days.
  7. Correct, and up to 6 clubs explored getting Richardson on their team, so its a great appointment.
  8. I posted the below in the draft and trade thread - i believe Shaun Higgins should be on our radar and we should be asking the question! If we are worried about leadership and older heads in out team now that Lewis is out and Jones no guarantee to play all year in the s seniors then Shaun Higgins is our man. I firmly believe he has 3 years left in him, would be a beautiful outside user and compliment us so well. Now it depends on what he would cost us i know that, but great mates with Daniel Cross and worth asking the question i reckon.

  10. Just heard Gaz Lyon on SEN saying there might be another assistant leaving the Hawthorn nest, he was waiting for confirmation before going with it, but 100% he was talking about Yze... i suspect this is very much in play and hopefully happens sooner rather than late.
  11. This is a really good point and you are right on all accounts Devils advocate position here, what if Gus isn't happy and he just coasts along?
  12. Yeah i hear you, and i think i am the same but some part of me thinks he may not be happy, he might not buy in and should we trade him?his best is obviously really good, but i think he borderline a liability this year. Im very torn on it, and will probably end up really happy if we keep him.
  13. I agree with you and yep while i was referencing the draft and trade period, you are 100% right, the club needs to get everything right, as i feel there is an apathy around us, just look at the crowds towards the end of the game, Fans just lost interest, and how many times can this happen before some members just wont come back.
  14. I honestly think this is the year that can really either set us up to go fwd, or we dont do enough and members and fans just really start losing interest. We need to be clever, we need to be tough, we need to bold. Make decisions that might be unpopular, but those decisions might refresh us in one year. A really critical 6 weeks coming for the club. i hope they are up to it.
  15. So, now that the Blues have missed out on Coniglio, they will be desperate to add another onballer to help Cripps. they dont need more young blokes, they need help for their star player. Im just throwing this out there as a discussion point, because if we want to get ruthless we have a guilt edged opportunity that could really transform our list in one period: Happy for feedback and debate. 1. Trade Brayshaw to Blues for pick 8 2. Give our first pick to GWS for 11 & 13 take picks 8, 11 & 13 into the draft /or at least 8 & 11 and use 13 for a good RFA like a Shaun Higgins as an example(would get 3 years out of him and we need class) and use pick 21 for Langdon. OUTS: P2(3) 7Braysahw P21(approx) IN: Pick 8, 11, 13 & Langdon This is just a discussion point, some are in the camp of keep Brayshaw, some are trade him? i have wavered every day, right now I'm 50/50 on it. Just putting it out there as an idea, as i said, happy to be shot down.
  16. Actually Garry is also a 5 time All Aus rep as well, only him and Barassi have done that for MFC. Maxy will go close to that for sure.
  17. What a mess our year really was when i had more faith in Frosty than i did most of our players. Its a credit to him though and a slight on the rest of our team. I love his competitiveness and want to do well, others could do far worse than applying those traits when its not going well for you. Never once did i see him give up. Should finish top 5 in our BnF IMO. Must hold onto him.
  18. All good Rusty, i think one thing we are unanimous on is that we need another good small fwd. Lets hope they prioritize it.
  19. I agree Wiseblood, sadly I think the likelihood of KK playing any really good consistent footy for us is a long shot which is a shame and of course i hope im wrong.
  20. I think Jeff was legit small forward who had years of 40 goals plus for us, to me that's a genuine crumber / small fwd. but yeah we desperately need a dynamic game changing fwd, will be very interesting to see how much we value it now that Jeff has retired. The ones we have are not dynamic, Bedford is a mile off it, Chandler is a work in progress but needs to have year of VFL where his goal kicking just kicks the door down.
  21. Thats the key, could wina one on one on the wing then run. The small guys can sometimes half the contest but then its either a stoppage or a turnover which halts all momentum.
  22. Yep, would have him, offer him 2 years. We need another player in the Fwd line that can help T-Mac and Weid (possibly) He takes a big defender to play on him, and form considered, he probably takes the 1 02 defender, frees up others. Why not. Nothing should be shot down without proper investigation and thought.
  23. excuse my ignorance but whats the go with rookies? like Dec Kielty is a Rookie? does that free up a spot on the list or just something we have to fill with another Rookie? Does that even make sense?
