Overnight from Sydney to Melbourne is pretty much always 10 hours and runs to the timetable. The same is not true of the reverse, often gets in an hour or so late. Travelling during the day... always delayed! Also, too aggravating!

Or a $90 each way, 10 hr train trip 😂

I know others aren't thrilled with this, but I personally can't wait because it means I can immediately start the season with a game! Really important to me given I suspect I won't the same flexibility to travel next year and I'll still be based in Syd But sucks for a lot of supporters who would otherwise be able to attend our first game of the season of course

I honestly would not have been aware of a lot of the AFLW matches (despite following the MFC AFLW and AFLW insta, and having both apps) without being engaged in Demonland and the Demon Army. It's amazing how little I've noticed the marketing, despite it being very relevant to my interests!

Seeing the comments about women supporting AFLW.... I'm not a woman but I've spent a lot of time in the past few weeks telling people who asked me in Syd about "how am I still talking AFL?!" that I'm watching a vastly superior product of the AFLW MFC (compared to the AFLM MFC)

Unfortunately a lot of the natural growth and interest in the game has been hampered by the AFL's strange decision making in respect of the AFLW. The most obvious instance being last year's grand final, where they forgot to secure venues in various states and so then we ended up in Springfield... Scheduling games at suburban grounds is one thing (and has its own charm) but doing so at 5 pm or other strange times on a Thursday or Friday makes it difficult for a lot of working people to travel and attend. That'll eat into crowd numbers... It's important to make things accessible to the general public to grow interest - which is why we prefer to play our home games at Ikon Park (heart of the city and all that) over Casey Fields. There are a whole lot of double standards used to justify the lower pay of the women. It sounds reasonable until the bigger picture is looked at.
