What's needed in 2024
Maybe the captaincy fixes Trac's kicking 😅

Cool light of day
I think we will be contenders for sure. Certainly top 8, most likely top 4, for at least another 3 seasons. The question is, do we have the talent to win it all again? 2021 - TMac and BBB were important pillars, now gone. We have no direct replacements yet. Langdon and Brayshaw did a brilliant work as the wing duo. Now Langdon is a shade of his former self and Hunter is not quite there yet. I would say the only 2 areas that are equally good or better are our back 6 and our mid-field. Mind you our mid-field seems to be a bit stagnant in the sense that we haven't developed elite skills. Trac and Oliver need a huge off-season and work on those foot skills and decision making. JVR is still work in progress and he may be very good, even better than TMac but he is just a kid. I think he will be cherry ripe in 2 more seasons. We desperately need a true KPF that can work alongside Petty and JVR.

What's needed in 2024
Not a bad idea to trade Salem. We have too many young guns in the half back line so we are well covered if he left. Langdon is another one that could be in danger, last two seasons have been underwhelming and I feel he is not physical or IQ enough for finals. Keep Tomlinson agree, he was good most of the time and if we are really making Petty our KPF we need him as a replacement in the back line. Try Woewodin and other youngsters on the wing and half forward. I think Spargo also needs to be back in our best 23, his decision making is elite. We need to be very smart come draft time, should have picks 4 and 5; the club needs to select based on the gaps in our list not necessarily best available (we are short on leg speed and elite kicking).

The Steven May appreciation thread
I think Curnow scored one, still a mighty effort. He was single-handedly winning to game for us last night.

Yet another wasted season?
Probably we will need to start moving away from some of those leaders from 2021, unless to they can be better next year. See Salem and Langdon. Salem had a good game I think last night but mentally he made too many mistakes for an experienced player. Langdon, a shade of his former self. The you have TMac and BBB that should not play next year. Lots of work to do in our list, this off season can be as important as the 2019 was.

Goody - Genius or insane?
He does seem to rely on analytics too much This year his favourite phrase was "score takes care of itself". Well, in the end it didn't. For all of our statistical dominance we were sent home in straight sets yet again.

I think we also bomb it because that way the ball is marked or drops close to the goal square, where you don't need to be an elite kick to create goals. See for example Curnow, takes a mark outside 50 maybe 55 m out and he almost gets a goal (touched on the line). Besides Fritsch and at some extent JVR/Petty, we don't have reliable kicks in our list. So we need the perfect angle and distance to create a score. That's not gonna happen in finals.

Marbiol Chol perhaps? , I haven't watched many GC games so not sure if he's what we need. Although to be honest I'd prefer that we were a chance at one of O. Allen, one of the King brothers or McKay. But unlikely of course. BBB and TMac retiring should give us the cap and list space for that KPF. We need to recruit the next Steven May and probably add more class to our midfield (skills are lacking).
