On Jackson, are you sure money didn't play even a small part? How much were we offering? Perhaps 700k or 750k, given the limited cap space we had at the time. Meanwhile Freo comes and offers 1 million a year to a 3rd year player. He had the choice to become the heir to Max Gawn but said, nah I'll take the money please. He could have made a similar amount of money with us, if he was willing to wait for his time in 2 or 3 years down the road.

You can say the same about other teams. Freo for example. Jackson 1 million for 7 years. Darcy. Serong and Brayshaw. Their two tall defenders. And they are yet to pay for their key forwards. Carlton even worse. If they can manage, we should be able to manage.

For all of Clarrys attributes, being an effective defender is not one of them. I would even say that Petracca is similar defensively, but has improved in the last couple of years.

Now we can focus in our midfield, ruck and potentially a KPF to accompany JVR.

IMO,He spent his credit last year with back to back straight sets. He'll gain some credits when and if we win a final.

Petty has lost all the mongrel he showed when playing in the backline. He is just not the same physical guy anymore, very meek and non competitive.

If Freo base their hope of finals success on the two games against us, they'll have a very harsh reality check in the finals.

Tank or try? I am starting to come to terms that, even if we somehow make it to the finals, we are not capable of winning even one game. I thinks we all agree that our list needs a significant overhaul, couple of players to retire and delist. Have some cap space to use and we could get a top 6 pick. Get Gawn and Trac fit and ready for season 2025. Last dance for May, Gawn, TMac and Melksham.

Btw we lost 5% today, we lost like 8% in Alice. 13% lost against one single opponent, one of the reasons we are in this current situation.
