Despite the win, wins to other teams means only a quite narrow chance to make the 4. Top 6 looks reasonably safe but games against Williamstown and Brisbane will be a good challenge. Strength of finals teams will partly depend on eligibility of listed players, plus availability of listed players which is affected by whether the firsts are playing that weekend and the order and location of games. But the team seems to be in good form and improving. Hold onto your hats.

I was sceptical of Jefferson early..no impact..he is showing consistent improvement and I think has a few extra badly needed kgs. Well done.

Hmmm...pretty much a unanimous 'No' so far. I tend to agree but on the other hand it would prolong the joy, dreams and agony for a lot of people. One thing is certain. Supporters sentiment will have no influence on the AFL decision. Nil.

The way I read it, Casey, sitting 5th, has a good chance of snatching 4th spot from hawks. Of course, that would mean no game in first week of finals, 7-10 play for last finals spots. Also, no game in third week if, in second week, Casey beats the team that finished on top. That's not ideal for player management for the AFL team. Casey should certainly finish top 6.

As an aside, and it doesn't worry me in the slightest, but I am always amazed at the very low crowds at VFL. Very good standard of footy, you get to see the up and comers, have a kick on ground, very cheap. Extremely good crowd behaviour as well..real family atmosphere.

Of course, no issue with that. I was really just pointing out some issues with the VFL fixture which will limit the capacity to give someone a run at Casey to find form, come back from injury, wake up call or whatever.

Dropping back to Casey isn't going to be available in some upcoming weeks. There is a bye next week and again on the weekend of 6 August. Casey will finish, I expect, top 6, so in the first week of finals there is no game as 7,8,9 and 10 battle for 2 last spots. If they finish top 4, likely, and win there is no game the following week.

Don't know about Turner. Grey and Bell, Casey players, both out injured. Bell played well last week.

You are right. It isn't. But it is a great day at the footy. And Sandy is a good location for lots of demons supporters to have a look at some demons young talent, eg Woewodin, Shache (spellcheck) Jefferson etc.
