Well he wont have to worry about that a St.Kilda next year. Neale's implementation of run and carry failed, but I have no problem with him trying it. Yeah I supported Neale Daniher, he was a good coach. I'm hoping Dean Bailey will be better and the very early signs are good - but to do so he'll have to win a flag. Neale was given due opportunity at the club, gave it his best shot and achieved everything else except a flag - we've only ever had 3 flag coaches. Contrary to popular opinion he left our list in good shape.

How do you explain Geelong's and West Coast's recent success with a strongly handball oriented gameplan?

The runaway premiers Geelong (1.2) along with the 2006 premiers West Coast (1.1) had the highest handball to kick ratio in 2007. Don't hear too many complaints about their gameplans. We implemented poorly but the idea is sound.

I'm happy to see us trade Johnstone, Carroll and Miller. They all need to improve either attitude (first two) or playing ability (Miller). If Bailey doesn't see upside then then let's move them on. If he does think he can extract the necessary improvement then I'm happy to spin the wheel with them in 08. Whichever way it goes ...

Bolton and Kirk have been the engine room of Sydney's stoppage machine. IMO the 2 most important Sydney players over the past 5 years. But they've both taken a hell of a beating doing it. Bolton is a bit of a Todd Viney - hard insider but ordinary kick. Why is he leaving, because he wants to come to Victoria or because the Swans reckon he is spent? If the first then TJ direct for Bolton I'd do if I couldn't get 2nd & 3rd rounder elsewhere. Miller plus pick for Bolton I'm not keen on, would prefer a similar age player for Miller or pick.
