Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
Well I would trade Fritsch but that is a different conversation. Our defensive structure is important when we get it down there - but I am happy to lose 10 Inside 50s if we make more of the I50s we do get. I think we have dined at the alter of repeat entries and come up hungry the last few years…

Can you please not connote speed of ball movement into the forward line with having speedy forwards. Being a good forward in a team that moves the ball quickly is about exploiting space and using the urgency and intensity of what is happening up the ground to get space from your opponent. JVR is not slow, but he also asks nothing of his opponents and doesn’t know how to exploit space to get the ball. Our best forward for a few years now is Jake Melksham and I hope that sinks in with people what it means to be a forward.

Media Madness
They wanted us to compete for Buckley with Tassie and draw direct conclusions on us, Nathan, Tassie etc. Buckley and our appointment are making that difficult so there are frustrated. I wouldn’t give it much heed. But I would applaud people like myself who were pushing for a process and not an all-in on Buckley that would have gone pear shaped…

He is a forward. I can’t tell you right now that we have a player above 188cms at the club who is a forward. There is very little instinctually smart forwards at our club that would straighten us up and exploit space. This would be a signal to the group that we are going to give it a shake and to get on board.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
They’re on holidays. Season is over. What more can he do? This report - even if it is true - is subjective claptrap from players who gave less than CP5 in 2025. Giving the players a fresh start applies to all the players not just the ones you like or ‘accept their behaviour’ toward the club. We are not getting value in a trade - we have to prepare for CP5 to be around in 2026 and my request of King is to leverage the power and of Christian and play him in roles that are moulded to his strengths. CP5 having bad body language because of the lack at we kicked into the forward line is not a fireable offence. And I am getting sick and tired of the usual trolls on here that ‘hate’ Petracca but will be the first losers with a sheepish grin if has 30 and kicks 3 in Kings debut next season. Show some bloody respect.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO
I was making a pointed facetious remark about the Comms and Media teams performance. Guerra seems to be earnestly answering questions and I applaud that.

Since he is not from The Footy World © , he probably doesn’t know Kane is baiting him. And with our media team - he would be blissfully unaware and unprepared and earnest.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Yes there were a few on here decrying the process that was a waste of time that inevitably chose our current coach. So glad we had that process yeah? And I honestly couldn’t care less about what the DeeBrief Bros think about much of anything.

and that joke works on two levels

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Yes, and also we don’t know how the question was couched or that part of the interview was approached - even with my comment in this thread - it was careful language. Plans change, he isn’t at the club yet and our current FD and list manager will be making decisions, with his opinion affirmed of course, but with him not at the club yet.

Oh boy, some real Annie Hall vibes coming through here

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I think for a new coach - the thought of getting Oliver and Petracca back to where they were is so tantalising and worth the effort before abandoning next year if you see it not working for the vision they have.

Farewell Judd McVee
So either a journeyman or an important player who won a team b+f? Oh I hope in this binary world - we get the latter. Or put more succinctly: 10011100101011100010100110110101010 That joke works on one level

Caroline literally got out of him that King won the role and not some timing based dissection that was implied in reports.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Ok then. Probably good we are not paying too much for a senior coach while we have such lacklustre players. We should let Pickett, Petty, Langdon, Langford, Chandler, Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Gawn, Rivers, Lindsay, Sparrow, Windsor, Turner, Lever, Bowey, May, Howes, Culley, McDonald, Melksham, and Fritsch that they can just phone it in because there is no way to contend with this lot… Thanks fully tho, I don’t think King is such a weak kneed defeatist and can think of a way to get more out of what we have and play in a way that asks more from those that have it to give and draws more from those that haven’t had it pulled from them. The Pies rebounded from a successful era into a successful era, same with the Hawks, Geelong - at some point we can sit up and ask more of ourselves…

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO
He did well. I hope someone can tell him that he can just say ‘ultimately the board decisions will be borne out with the outcomes’ because this ‘you can’t make decisions like this (firing coach, new CEO, new coach) without a unified board’… You can Paul, and plenty of entities have done that but anyway… The conversation around CP5 and Oliver being in King’s 25 players was an interesting one - definitely a hedge but also intimating that we are ready to work with what we have rather than push out ‘25 cents on the dollar’ and slide further down the ladder. I applaud it.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
His first big challenge will be to get some equally experienced heads for the lines and ball movement. If Chaplin goes to the Tigers will be completely bereft with only Jones with 0 outside experience in the club
