  1. At least Jones played games - Terlich didn't. I would struggle to see the point in keeping him for 2016 if you didn't use for 2015...
  2. Pay back for Pick 94? There is nothing else to that trade other than a great club valuing a new recruit by getting him a week before they had to. There is no need for a pick in the ND to put someone on the RL. Again, nothing to see here. We were just allowing them to show what good clubs do to show recruits they value them.
  3. Assuming Lovett makes it to the Rookie List, we upgrade Harmes and delist Hunt to do so. King and White on our the 4 man RL and Smith on his own on a separate list. If we re-rookie Hunt, and rookie Lovett we will have a full rookie list. Our first 4 picks in the draft have their spots but I would use our ND82 in lieu of Terlich, as it would end up being ~61st 'live' pick. Interesting to see what happens.
  4. Nah, screwing up top 5 picks are the true moments of pain and frustration. Tambling is worse than Toumpas; we could have eked out 150 games out of Jimmy. The pain comes in the opportunity cost. And Wines is excellent, but the Tigers had a chance to set themselves up for a decade and chose a very good HBF and mediocre wingman. Hawthorn chose two bookends and the rest of awful history that we are still living.
  5. King is coming into his 3rd year and would be, with Frost, the only players on, or about to be on, our list that would be a chance to usurp Dawes and Pedersen to the 2nd Fwd/Back up ruck role. But Gawn took 6 years to establish himself, so King will still need time before we can even see whether he is up to it.
  6. Yes, all the players deemed good enough that have stuck around deserve to be on the ride up the ladder. The two Captain Jacks, Colin, Lynden, and Nathan. Even Neville stuck around when he wasn't deemed good enough.
  7. 'By the end of the year' is a very restricting timeline; Frost needs to learn how to play forward as he couldn't in 2015, Smith is an unknown, undersized, and, I'm assuming, raw, and Pick 7 is very much up in the air, possibly undersized and 18 years old. Expecting 2017 to see one of those three take over the 2nd tall Fwd/Back up ruck role is asking a bit IMO.
  8. Yeah, deanox, I was right there and then you lost me by baking with your dog.
  9. I really don't know. I don't follow the juniors - I am just one of the people that is interested to find out which player taken AND RATED in the teens turns out to be in the top 3 playerd from this draft 4 years from now... I hope we actually take the third and seventh best kid.
  10. Vanders did that once. Against the worst team in the comp. I know you are having a laugh but the next bloke to come out of the NEAFL really doesn't need a 50+ possie measuring stick...
  11. The bloke that looks like the second coming of Taller Matthew Lloyd? Maybe... Don't know.
  12. Well, I think Dawes is a better forward. Who gives a rip, though? Won't matter or be decided till March.
  13. I thought I did well to last this long - you refuse to see the facts in front of you. You want to see them fork over a 1st round pick - they already have, you want to see them pay full price - they have traded away all picks of value. They will have a very interesting draft day - one with Mills, maybe Dunkley and picks in the 60s and 70s. That's it.
  14. What if they have traded away their first rounder, second rounder and a player to get those third rounders? Because that is what the Swans did. But, yeah, who cares. Why let facts get in the way of a preconceived notion?
  15. By the time, their Pick 19 rolls around, it will be Pick 24 with 5 Academy kids taken before it - pushing the draft back a pick each time.
  16. He's DFA - you can take him before the ND. It's all about list spots at this point.
  17. Another thing to mention - when a bid comes on a player at ND56 or later - that kid will not affect the draft at all and the 'owning' club can simply take him with their last pick, like a rookie upgrade. So if Lovett gets nominated after that point, all we will need is a list spot, he won't affect our next pick (which is a good thing as we would have to go into deficit to get him - our ND77 has no points). And with 13 FS and Academy players taken before it, it will be the 64th 'live' pick. Would we want to use that pick now?
  18. Yes, he does, but he thinks his best spot is third tall in the backline - reaching for the stars their Aaron... He has the size to be a damaging mid, but does he have the brains? You can't just 'plug and play' like we didn't do with Daniel Bell.
  19. Prefer to get tall players from state leagues that can show what they have got staright away than spending 5 years and a high draft pick.
  20. With Dunkley and Rice going 22 and 24 respectively - our ND40 is now the 33rd 'live' pick in the draft. If there are kids at BL and GC rated in the 30s - we will have the 31st 'live' pick and suddenly that 29 we gave GC - still the 28th 'live' pick - is completely redeemed. I am just so impressed with Mahoney now - the MFC was prepared for this - we knew exactly what we were doing. 25 for Melksham is fine when it has only come forward 1 'live' pick but your ND50 is potentially the 36th 'live' pick. TL;DR version - we will get the 3rd, 7th, and ~31st ~36th picks in the draft (excluding the FS and Academy players).
  21. With Rice at nominated by Carlton at 24 - the Saints fork over 39 and 60 moves to 74. With these 7 players burning through all these picks - our pick 82 is now the 66th live pick in the draft at ND73. And GWS have 6 more picks (1125 points), BL 2 more (444), GC 3 more (863), and Syd one more pick (59) before that ND73 (and after ND25). Any more Academy bids will burn through at least half of those picks. I would say Sydney are the only team that might go into deficit this year - the rest have made an attempt to mitigate the deficit issue.
  22. So where will Rice and Silvagni be bid upon? Where do they rate in the draft class? Any other FS that will be bid upon in the nat draft? I will pop it into my spreadsheet and put it in the Bidding War thread.
  23. That will be Pick 23 or 24 if they bid with that pick. And the Saints will be blown back to the 60s and 70s for their picks. If Carlton bid with a 1st rounder - it will eat the Saints first pick.
  24. In reality, they are getting their academy kids and nothing else. That is a good thing I would say.
