Northern Summer

I think Dean Bailey will be lucky to be at the club in 3 weeks time. We have Carlton, Essendon and Collingwood. I cannot see how we will get close to any of them, particularly with our long injury list. Come end end of the Collingwood game, the season will be mid-way through, we will be out of contention for the finals (in reality, maybe not mathematically), the club will know full well Bailey will not be re-appointed next season (I think this was the case a few weeks back frankly), and therefore they will part ways and appoint Todd Viney was interim coach. If the club cannot lure Malthouse or Roos, my gut feel is they will try to get an ex-moderately successful coach to act as a director of coaching to Viney next year, perhaps someone like Rodney Eade if things turn sour at the Dogs - you would think a coach without a flag in 14 years of coaching may be considered past another coaching gig - and Eade will probably realise this and move on. Though I have a hunch that Roos may have already given an informal heads of agreement to take over. .

I am watching the ICC World Cup match between England vs India. . look at England's uniform - that is the navy and red combination that 'we' should have at Melbourne - the correct tone of navy, and absolutely the correct tone of red - unlike what we have worn thus far this season!!! I feel like i'm watching the Dees watching England - hopefully we can emulate their Ashes performance this AFL season and take a few by surprise!!!

Looks like the Middlesex CCC cricket top. . maybe we can play some home games at Lords??!!

Does David Neitz have any role at Melbourne any more? What is it with his facebook page - he's a fan of St Kilda Football Club - and not Melbourne Demons!! At least Heff is a member of Mates of Melbourne - obviously he's not too fond of the Bombers for the way they ridded him!!!

In this morning's 'The Age', Danny Corcoran said that he has always been 'an Essendon person. I remember the press conference when he joined Melbourne in 1997 (having left Essendon) and I guarantee Corcoran said at that time he was always a Melbourne supporter and that was what led him to take the position. Wierd guy - you can understand why people question him - he seems to say what suits him on each occasion!!! Thoughts?

Meeshan and Newton would be the first 2 gone, followed by Miller. Bell and McNamara are likely delistings also. Based on that, 5 players are gone, with the addition of Junior if he retires (which I reckon mightn't actually happen). I can't see why the club would want to turn the list over by any more than this seeing the position they are in at the moment, and the compromised draft with the Gold Coast and Richmond (getting the concession picks for being so dreadfully bad, not for tanking like we did last year :-))

Read the Sunday Herald Sun today with interest to find that Buddy Franklin was a Melbourne Demons supporter before joining Hawthorn, that his favourite players were Gary Lyon and David Schwarz, that he used to wear a jumper with the number on his back. Geez, to think arguably 2 of the 3 most important players in the AFL at the moment barracked for Melbourne, and we're languishing at the bottom of the table. .
