WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
picket fence replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
The One thing I noticed startingly was his turn of speed with the ball through heavy traffic! My esteemed Colleague Dazzle man also noticed this! In many of my vids of "Sir Robert" one thing stood as stark reminder of class and that was the ability to see peripherally those around you and decide in a blink of an eye which way to weave to esape heavy scrutiny from opposition! Probably why Rob lasted so long in the more brutal era's with not too much body damage! Oliver has I believe, the same 'Uncanny Time" and if he matures as I expect him to will become One of the "Darlings" of the MFC young brigade! Bring it on Son!! -

Delidio and Cotchin were dreadful in last years finals! As leaders they should be seething with their inept displays I could never in my wildest dreams imagine Chunky Jones playing so poorly in a final! Give me the goer anyday in a final! Is Jones that different to Todd Viney, who was superb in our finals campaigns Deledio and Cotchin ?? Meh.. If you cant produce in cut throat finals boys, go play tiddlywinks with grandma around the corner! -

Hnmm Ok, Can see where your coming from and in retrospect maybe correct re Half as good would be a fail! I retract this comment. However chunky would get a game in most if not any other team and so as a benchmark if Oliver is as good I'll take it! Better is obviously a huge bonus! But remember Oliver has been selected as our "Late lament" version of Ollie Wines and we all know how well the guy we selected went! So as stated as good as Jones is good and if Better, will be a huge bonus IMV. -

Nathan Jones would be the first player picked IMV and rightly so! Why this thread was sabbotaged beats me. I agree with Dazzle Man the thread is about Clayton Oliver and if he turns out to be half as good as chunky I will be reasonably pleased. As good or better, I will be rubbing my hands with Glee! -
Round 22 season 1987 Footscay Vs Melbourne at the Western Oval. Thank God I kept the Video and copied it onto DVD. Unfortunately only got the second half from the excellent channel 2 program, "The Winners" majestically compered by Tim Lane! Flower, Stynes, Wilson, Stretch, Lovett, Spalding, Wight, Yeats all very prominent! Ahhh the visceral intoxication eminating from this win still resonates and lives on and on! Feel free, posters to add your own memorial highlight, from our history knowing that in the not too distant future we will be replaying yet to come highlights again and again! One gripe, only got second half, sheeit anyone got access to full game would be a treat! Cheers all Fence!

As much as David Bowie's loss was very sad, I think Glen Freys contribution to MOR was sensational! A great musician in his own right he formed with the Eagles that West coast sound which has become iconoclastic to the style of the sensational seventies! The music still is fresh alive and vibrant today as then. I don't think the Eagles can or would want to carry on now and so one of the "Stellar" Bands of all time may not ever be seen again! Lets hope not! Vale Glen Frey and thanks for the beautiful music! "Fence"

Christian Petracca's toe injury (in full training)
picket fence replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pickering is right ! What if he had done his ACL again . I for one would be livid! Learn a lesson indeed ! Should have been drummed into him and all players from the start" no unofficial" activities period! Remember Sam Blease breaking his leg playing muck around footy at school. Arguably finished his career before it started. I for one not happy at all with this setback to Petracca. 100 percent committed to playing AFL footy for all Melbourne players all else out -

Take 2 OLIVER & WEIDEMAN AFTER SOLID PRE SEASONS ( SEE ATTACHMENT) MFC MUSCLE.doc -
The day he walked out! Probably his most productive moment. We again get rid of a not quite right player and pick up some real value players who will serve us more consistently!
-
Col Sylvia Nice fellow, But a poor mans nothin as a player.By the nuthin I'm talking about,.. The times he seemed to be on the cusp and the cusp broke The times he threatened and that was about it The times he could have won us games consistently and sadly all too often, disappionted The times when he needed to take responsibility and make good decisions,.. Well we are still waiting just ask Freo. Not even a flawed genious just flawed! FWIW Life member for Col Sylvia??? Whatever for??

Which begs several questions! Was Melbourne aware that he would be subjected to this type of stringent test!? Did they think that he would be a good chance to pass such a test? If not, Why did they let him proceed?? Why , if there were any doubts about his ability to stand up would they allow such a test? Were we trying "To pull the wool" over Richmonds eyes in the hope he would pass the test? In view of his failed attempt to get to Richmond and the fact that this injury cost him a further year + And it must be said he still hasn't made it back I find it interesting that we would continue to support given A We tried to offload him! B) He wanted to go! To me, something still doesn't quite add up?? I'll let posters here draw there own conclusions!!

Yeah might be a bit mental, but yes I understood the pic on the right is the most current. But if you look closely, there is still some muscle wastage! on the pic on the right! And guess what smarties, I understand the need for muscle build up, but if this creates more bulk might that create more pressure on the injury?? This needs to be carfully monitored! Just a thought!

Well, I had quite a few doubts before, but after seeing this picture I would have to say NO! I know that after surgery you do have muscle wastage, but sheeit the lack of body around the Gastroc, is gee, cause for alarm! If he's not yet kickin a footy, I reckon things don't look too bright!

Should Demonland embrace the Women's Game?
picket fence replied to Bigred's topic in Melbourne Demons
I could give a million reasons, but last time it got me into hot water so therefore, I will say just one word! NO! -
Yeah wel, I'm still gonna back him!! And just as an aside Didn't Bruest jump out of the way of oncoming traffic?? And was crucified for it in the press and on the Hawks fan forum!? Clarko wouldn't stand for that What????
-
Well I listened to the views as expressed and I feel I need to support Jack Watts for the following reasons 1 He rarely wastes a disposal 2 He rarely misses a goal 3 He is the best link man we have got 4 He selflessly dropped himself when he felt not up to scratch ( and in the cut throat world pf professional sport I see this as actually displaying leadership)! 5 He is blessed with the one attribute not many of any of our players have! Time!! A shimmy here a twist there, this makes him pretty unique. FWIW I will say that Jack will be a revelation this year and play really well. You know if he played at Hawthorn or Freo of one of the other top sides he would be an absolute world beater!! Answer me this ..would Bruest be as sensational a player if he played with us?? Nar, I reckon Jack Watts will surprise many, maybe even himself! Go Jack Go Dees!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JOSHUA WAGNER
picket fence replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Some history for you, Rob Flower was as ambidextrous as they come! Essentialy a left hander one hand ( his writing hand) you wouldn't know it as his right hand bounces with the footy, his right hand handball was equal to his left and his deadly accuracy with either foot were exceptional! Dont mind this at all!! -
Seems like a nice Fellow, but he reminded me far too much of Tom Scully Big sigh glad we picked Oliver!

Ah, Make that back to back "Brick Shithouses" Dazzle man!! And whilst not wishing any halm to new Essendope player Darcy Parish, as we will see, pure grunt and aggresion at the footy will mean that in the contest our new boy, will mow over the scrawny Parish frame like a "Treelogger over a blade of grass!! -
