  1. Didn’t look like he hit a target all night but Viney miraculously went at 68% efficiency. He had just one score involvement which was one less than Harmes.
  2. May to replace Tomlinson but Petty should be on notice for his poor start to the year. JVR to replace Gawn. Jordon to replace Harmes Hibberd to replace McVee if they want some seniority back in the side. Laurie or Dunstan to replace Melksham as sub. Next week and the Collingwood game are benchmark games IMO to see if we’re able to compete with the elite of the comp. I think we’ll learn a bit about our side next week, even with Gawn out.
  3. I actually thought they were very good until they called it a night when the lights went out.
  4. I’m not talking about St Kilda winning the flag (because that’s Collingwood’s IMO) but I reckon there’s a bit of a whiff of Melbourne 2021 about them to start the season. After a couple of years in the wilderness, the group has a collective buy in and a major emphasis on defence and keeping the opposition to insanely low scores. Could not be more impressed considering their injury list, and have major upside in regards to returning players.
  5. Best case scenario he’s back for the Port game in round 9 if he’s fit and match ready. Only two matches against top 8 contenders (unless you’ve jumped on the Essendon wagon already) between rounds 3-8. Can certainly live with that.
  6. Because JHF leaving North has everything to do with Collingwood, right? I’m at the game and they’re absolutely ripping into the kid. If the bookies don’t have Collingwood as flag favourites by tomorrow night then they’re having a laugh. Not sure if the stats back it up but the eye tells me they have the perfect blend of offence and defence to certainly win the flag.
  7. Hoping Schache and JVR have big games to replace Gawn and possibly T Mac respectively.
  8. Goodie adamant May will play Sydney. Mind you he doubled down on May playing this week.
  9. Harmes needs to be dropped, and he was on thin ice last year when he was the sub for the late season Collingwood and Carlton games last year. He had 19 fantasy points which is only 15 points more than Gawn who played about 5 minutes For context, Oliver, who had an ordinary game by his standards had 147 points. Almost every touch Harmes had was ineffective or rushed, and only had 2 tackles, 2 score involvements and 4 frees against. A stinker of a game by any metric.
  10. Yeah agreed. I Kind of got the impression he knew something.
  11. Certainly worked his way into the game as the solo ruck and credit to him. Needs to build some synergy with Trac and Clarry if we’re to win the centre clearances going forward. He’s going to earn his money this year if Gawn’s out for weeks, but he’d love having the number 1 mantle to himself.
  12. I think this was was established last year.
  13. You’re good and quick with the stats mate. Can you tell me the last time we kicked 4 or less behinds in a game of footy.? Our goal kicking was on point tonight, if nothing else.
  14. MFC when Jack Viney is out since round 1 2020: 11 wins - 3 losses. Obviously a coincidence, right…
  15. BBB with his 3rd at the 61st minute mark
  16. Geelong put in an absolute Barry Crocker V Sydney round 2 last year and they ended up having an ok season.…
  17. I suspected that was the case given Brayshaw’s propensity to shank a kick.
  18. Any idea if we marked the ball from Brayshaw’s kick just as the lights went out? Looked a potential rare inside 50 entry.
  19. Knowing our luck we’ll have to stay till Tuesday to finish the game.
  20. Hopefully it's not as bad as T Mac's in 2019. From memory he kicked 6 goals against Carlton to 3 quarter time then missed the final 6 games of the year.
  21. I have no faith in the GC whatsoever but can easily see them rolling the Dons at Marvel. 42/43 people in my tipping comp would suggest otherwise. GC's lacklustre start to the year praccy game (GWS) and round 1 has largely gone under the radar. Dew can't afford another 6-8 win season.
  22. While Kings B'day is the obvious one, I'm nominating Round 3 V's Sydney. Our big test for 2023 to see how far we've advanced from last year is the Sydney game next week. We've lost 8 our last 9 games against Sydney at the MCG and that one win was a close one in our premiership year. People will say that a lot of those games occurred were when we were rebuilding in the Neil Craig and Roos era, however we've still lost 5 MCG games to Sydney under Goodwin. If we fail to beat both Sydney and Collingwood at the MCG yet again, then I can't see how we can go into September with any real confidence.
  23. So I assume May will be suiting up for Casey in that case? On Tuesday Goodwin doubled down from the post game presser saying all four players (May, Salem, Fritta, Viney) will be available for selection at either MFC or Casey. (on a serious note, if your mail is solid, then they obviously don’t want to risk May so early in the season.
  24. Looked like he finally found his preferred position as an intercept defender to start 2019 (10 marks against the Dees) but then broke his leg the following week and was never seen again.
