Blind freddy could see Bedford had talent and speed & that Jordan was an accumulator but knew how to position himself defensively at stoppages (we lack any defensive mids now). I’m drawing a long bow on this one, but Jayden Hunt would be handy up forward atm. In 2019/20 he at least lead up at the ball made a contest. Chaplin’s wouln’t even know how to spell the [censored] words “lead” & “present” . You just watch Goody back in his favourites this year and we’ll watch players with any form of spark or natural talent languish at Casey because they don’t fit into his “system”.

Now he knows how we all felt having to watch/listen to him throw the club (he apparently loved after 2021) under the bus last August/September, maybe he could have a chat to Nathan Jones about what it actually means to put your body on the line. Question for George. What happened to Max Gawn resting or god forbid even playing forward? He looks to me like he has lost his arial game this year? Once upon a time Max loved floating forward to clunk a mark and at worst hook a few points? I’d take 1 out of 3 set shots inside 50, because it would at least drag a couple of Key Defenders to him so we could get it to ground and crumb a few goals? Or is that plan not complicated enough for our “Mastermind” Premiership coach.

Full disclosure. I love your analysis, but I just think alot of these ratings are boosted by junktime stats. Ie to use a cricket terminology. What do you value more. 30 runs against a new ball or 30 runs from a tailender when the balls dead and the games over?

Just started listing to the podcast, I’m 19 minutes in and when Binman said rivers had a good player rating, I nearly threw up! It shows me how rubbish this player ratings system is. The amount of horrible clangers “Trent” had. I’ve defended “Trent” to a mate for years. But I’ve had enough. This guy is hopeless. Find me a stat for how many times he [censored] himself and hospital handballs it to a team “mate” or when he takes 6 years to realise he has to kick it, or when he’s out & handballs back to a mate into traffic. Yeah. But 10 years ago that side had some spirit and grunt, it would probably beat this current 2025 piece of [censored]. I was at that Game in 2015. The side just lacks any spirit without him & with ANB gone we have absolutely no on field leadership.
