  1. I still think one of the 13 will slip, and we will pounce. Maybe Hewitt gets picked up before our pick, or the Saints grab Jefferson (they have been linked). 🤞anyway.
  2. From the Herald Sun this morning: MELBOURNE Picks: 13, 37 Mick Ablett says: After a disappointing exit in the 2022 finals series, expect a statement to come early in 2023. With the most potent ruck duo arguably since Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui, the Demons’ engine room will get plenty of supply. Targeting some firepower to assist Bailey Fritsch and Kysiah Pickett is paramount and the only area Melbourne has to address before another September assault. Draft Prediction: Matt Jefferson could come into calculations for their first pick. He averaged 2.2 goals during his NAB League season, along with kicking a standout seven goals straight against Western Australia in the under-18 national championships. At 195cm he is a strong lead-up forward. Sam Gilbey should be on the board at their second pick and would provide some class by foot off halfback.
  3. Would be happy with any of those players. Recently, Cal said that someone good will slip to our pick.
  4. They do the entire 1st round on night one. They just make a big deal about the top 10.
  5. However many picks the 1st round is. The rest are done the next night.
  6. I doubt Jefferson or Allan would get selected before Hollands
  7. IMO Sheehan’s picks often seem to be a bit off, in these drafts
  8. I thought the same, except that we are happy to let people think we want Jefferson.
  9. 36. Port Adelaide – Harry Lemmey (West Adelaide/SA) 35. St Kilda – Harvey Gallagher (Bendigo Pioneers/Vic Country) 34. GWS – Harry Rowston (Giants Academy/Allies) 33. Fremantle – Jason Gilbee (Bendigo Pioneers/Allies) 32. Carlton – Kaleb Smith (East Fremantle) 31. St Kilda – Isaac Keeler (North Adelaide/SA) 30. Collingwood – Harry Barnett (West Adelaide/SA) 29. West Coast – Darcy Jones (Swan Districts/WA) 28. Collingwood – Coby Burgiel (Gippsland Power/Vic Country) 27. Hawthorn – Olli Hotton (Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro) 26. North Melbourne – Max Gruzewski (Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro) 25. Western Bulldogs – Jacob Konstanty (Gippsland Power/Vic Country) 24. Adelaide – Max Michalanney (Norwood/SA) 23. Essendon - Alwyn Davey (Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro) 22. West Coast – Lewis Hayes (Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro) 21. GWS – Charlie Clarke (Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro) This is the surprising one: 20. GWS – Elijah Hewett (Swan Districts/WA)
  10. It is paywall 37. Melbourne – Sam Gilbey (Claremont/WA) Defender, 187cm, 73kg Jordan says: The Demons got their young forward earlier and now, given the star power and balance of its list, they can afford to take a slight risk. A risk because he is recovering from a broken leg, not because of his talent. Battled injury and Covid earlier in the year, too, but Gilbey has more class and composure than plenty of others in the draft. Reads the play so well in defence but, given the time he gives himself with ball in hand, has shown glimpses of the tall midfielder he could become.
  11. The Herald Sun have previously stated that we have interest in Allan too, amongst a group of other clubs.
  12. Just watched the Herald Sun Mock Draft. Predictably, they had us taking Jefferson at 14. Ed Allan was picked with West Coast's second pick. They had Hewitt going at the last pick of the 1st round.
  13. Is he suggesting we take Jefferson at 13, and trade up for Allan too?
  14. Same podcast they said that we want Jefferson, to replace BBB, but St Kilda might pick him first. Could be some sliders at our pick.
  15. The only mention of Melbourne, is that we like the look of Ed Allan at 13, as do other clubs with picks around us.
  16. From: The West Australian (yesterday) AFL Draft 2022: West Coast show interest in son of former Fremantle skipper Ben Allan West Coast could swoop on the son of a Fremantle legend in Ed Allan with the club being linked to the big-bodied Claremont midfielder. Allan is the son of inaugural Fremantle captain Ben Allan, who played 47 games for the Dockers as well as 98 for Hawthorn. Rival clubs believe the Eagles have shown strong interest in Allan who has bolted to a position where he is expected to go anywhere between 10 and 20 despite stress fractures in his back limiting him to just five colts games this season at the Tigers. Several clubs including Carlton, Western Bulldogs, Sydney, Melbourne and Greater Western Sydney are also keen on the 194cm midfielder.
  17. From: sportsbyfry (whoever that is): Melbourne Demons Draft picks: 13, 37 Granting Luke Jackson’s trade request helped the Dees move into the top-15 and thanks to their premiership window being wide open, there’s no pressure with this selection. The core of their midfield are tied to long-term deals, meaning Melbourne could look towards the best possible prospect on the board, while also possibly making life hard for their peers by placing bids on the likes of Jaspa Fletcher and/or Alwyn Davey Jr. A few names to monitor include, Ollie Hollands, Cam Mackenzie and Elijah Hewitt, but to be honest, the Demons can’t really lose when it comes to making two picks in this year’s draft. Again, would be happy with any of the above picks.
  18. From SEN yesterday: Melbourne is clearly in the premiership window, but with several stars tied to long-term contracts, the club would expect to be in contention for some time. With pick 13 as the Demons' first pick, one thing that is likely is list manager Tim Lamb won’t look to take a key position prospect. That leaves Melbourne set to take the best player available, preferably a midfielder who can lead the next crop coming through. Cam Mackenzie and Ollie Hollands look to be the two Melbourne could target. Both are likely to be around the mark of pick 13 and both are Victorian boys. If the club goes with an on-baller, they’ll have the best in the business to learn from in Clayton Oliver, Christian Petracca and Jack Viney. It could be seen as an opportunity to put significant time into a youngster because the likely outcome is they won’t break into Simon Goodwin’s best 22 next year. I think either of these players would be a good get.
  19. Despite where he had Jackson & Pickett, Cal is still the most accurate person, when it comes to the draft.
  20. Not so sure about this Phantom Draft though https://www.sportingnews.com/au/amp/afl/news/afl-phantom-draft-2022-clubs-battle-lands-best-football-talent/aib9ptno3tl6ef4klnddiznz
  21. Pommy in Oz just did his mock draft, with a couple of other guys.. For some reason the video starts at pick 9. They have us taking Jefferson with our 1st pick.
  22. Hell yeah, great news, hopefully Kozzie next!
