I’m kinda fascinated in what Geelong are going to do in the next few years with their list. Hawkins, Higgins, Smith, Selwood, Blicsavs, Danger, Thouy, Stanley, Rohan, Ceglar, Menegola, Duncan and Stewart are all over 30. Even Cameron and Guthrie are both 29… And the players they have coming through that look alright (not superstars): Parfett Ratugolea Close I don’t think Geelong are a destination club after last year (If Im a 25 year old free agent and I want a flag, I’m going to Melbourne/Brisbane/Sydney/Bulldogs/Carltonbefore I even consider Geelong), soo do they go to the draft? With 13 senior players dropping off left right and centre of the next couple of years?
  2. A few boys out there playing like they’re rock stars…. Go back to basics and get the win at this stage as this has turned into a losable game
  3. This is a good game for Weid to be in. He should get a lot of delivery forward as I’m confident our mids will smash em. Go dees

I don’t see much difference between ceding 5-10 meters or having to stand on the mark. Seems like a neutral trade off.

I don’t think it’s been until watching the dogs this year that Bruce’s contribution to the team has become apparent to me. He’s so important to their set up. Takes a big defender, but does a lot of work across half forward and even the wing being a target out of the backline. There’s only so much Naughton and an inexperienced Ugle-Hagan can do for an entire game.
  6. Does anybody know of or remember anything other Dees players said about Lewis? I just did a quick google search and I can’t find much on what they thought. I’m not implying anything here, would genuinely like to know what the players had/have to say about Lewis.

I was going to start a new thread on this but I’ll just chuck a comment in here about it. I’m actually fine with the media/AFL spotlight being on other teams and players almost all the time ESPECIALLY when we are the team to beat. I’d rather we fly under the radar and win the only thing that really counts for players: Premierships. I’d rather a Daicos get attention than Bowie for example, just let him do his thing without extra attention. However this might just be a reflection of me as a life long (36 years) dees supporter that’s easily spooked the year after finally winning a flag. Am I being overly paranoid about the bad effects lots of attention can do to a team? Is recognition better than being ignored for player/team confidence?

Just finished, Hawks played very well. Backs intercepted constantly, forwards kicked 13.0 from set shots which is absurd and their pressure was excellent. Hawks look to have figured them out a bit. Hawks have a good foundation to build upon from here… but they’ve only played North and a Port side that has a lot of improving to do. Port look predictable going forward and I don’t think they respond to teams pressuring them, they look to wilt and not be able to wrestle back momentum.

Hawks are kicking everything and their inside 50 entries are much more efficient than Ports. Port not handling Hawks pressure very well

I’m watching it now, (only in the second quarter), Hawks pressure is up and just like everyone else they’re playing our style. They look pretty quick and players have obviously got a new lease of life under Mitchell. Hawks getting goals every 18 disposals… port every 60. Hawks look more organised around the ground compared to last year. Right now it looks like Hawks are playing freely and Port look a bit stilted? Port not taking their goal opportunities…
  11. Seemed play it was play on if a player went 1cm off his line…
  12. We’re getting it done like great teams do. It’s not always pretty and we were cooked at 3/4 time. A lot of players were well under their best, but thats ok, it’s at the right time of year and we still got it done. I’d like to see Toby Bedford get some game time for Hunt. He looked exciting at times against the dogs (although a bit nervous) but I liked what I saw.
  13. It’s beneath him and would be an insult to nominate him.
  14. Yep absolutely. I don’t know exactly what it is about him, but he looks like he hasn’t really progressed much since then? Or he panics when he gets the ball? Has the game passed him?
  15. He looks a level below everyone else in the team at the moment.
  16. Is there anyone more smug that Derm? He’s unlistenable
  17. Get the first goal and deflate them. Suns look like they have the belief and will to keep pushing til the end.
  18. Will it tear them apart?
  19. Kozzie doesn’t need many disposals to be damaging. And again, so much of his worth is what he does off he ball. Bloody hell we have some incredible players.
  20. They certainly have a lot of spirit in their game. Fix up some skills/decision making and they’ll go alright
  21. Low on confidence? Or not in the right position?
  22. He’s one of those players that looks like he has an extra second to make decisions than everyone else, which is an amazing skill to have as a 19 year old
  23. Very true. Still winning with quiet performances from a lot of the team.
  24. Credit where credit is due, the suns are giving it everything and pushing us. The key for them will be maintaining this intensity whilst cleaning up their disposals and decision making. Trac, Oliver and Jackson look too much for them to handle though.
  25. 9 goals 1 behind!!!!! I didn’t even notice this until now
