No, just my preference for team wins over individual ones

All credit to him and love his guts, but I'd rather we play finals than have any AA reps

PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Selection has been bizarre this year, goes to show how little we on the outside understand. Hawthorn looked bloody good on the weekend, will be a good test for where we are at right now.

POSTGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
The fwd line definitely looks like it is structured a lot better. Petty has definitely helped with that, playing in a similar role to what BBB was doing - closer to goal, contesting and even snagging a couple. I would have thought that Kozzie playing in the middle more would have hurt us an equal amount up forward, but it seems you can have you Koz and eat it too. Spargo has worked his way into form after a poor start (and 400? days off), while Sparrow has been excellent defensively and with pressure up fwd. Chandler is obviously benefiting from playing further up the ground. Can kick and pressure is never in doubt. While I'm chuffed for Disco kicking 3, I don't know if we can rely on him to do it every week. Getting JVR back to form is needed, as is getting more out of fritta.

Can we play West Coast every week?

CASEY: Rd 07 vs Footscray
The disrespect that the AFL pays to the VFL is as incredible as it is sad.

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
Is it possible to place a multi on this game plus the election?

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
Fullarton (sp?) was serviceable in his first game, which may be his ceiling. Given we have JVR, AJ and Disco all waiting to come back in - and all of whom can probably exceed serviceability (tbc), I don't think we'd lose much by dropping him. On the other hand, maybe a run of games (similar to what JVR and Fritta were given) could help him? I have no idea how selection at this club works so wont pretend to try and understand. What I will do is drink 4 fingers of ouzo, spin myself around, then throw an arrow at a dart board.

GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond
The bookies still have us as favorites, which I don't really trust after the last round, but will take some solace in it.

Noah Balta - Sentencing
My partner isn't really into footy, but tolerates it and enjoys the frocks on brownlow night. However, she saw the Balta footage and was visibly shaken. She thought it was disgusting that he was not only allowed to walk around and still play footy, but that any team would select him to play and that the AFL would allow it. This is not an isolated opinion that exists in the community. The AFL needs to do better, not simply because of optics but because its the right thing to do. They are supposed to be a community group (they dont pay tax), so they need to act like one.

Tom Fullarton
That was absolutely Max's best game for ages, which is saying something. I thought Fullarton was good, did his job. Not everyone in the team is going to be Kozzy, you need role players and he certainly played his. Wish him all the best going forward.

POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
Was great to be back at the 'G watching the Dees. I couldn't believe that we had kicked 12 goals to half time. More of that please. Goes to show what effort can reward. No big changes for mine; May for Disco if he is injured. Also, bring in McVee for just about anyone. Well done to Fullarton on his first game, sprayed a kick but presented all game. I can't really think of anyone that was bad. Such a good team effort. Well done to all involved.

Tom Fullarton
Given the status quo, I don't think Tom is behind anyone. Fritta has been abysmal with effort, JVR seems to have lost it and I don't know why Turner got dropped after one game. Goodwins line last year when they were going with JVR, Fritta, Turner and Petty up fwd is that they were building cohesion. Really not sure what they are building at the moment. Doubt it would get builders sign off. If Fullarton (sp?) is going to have a crack, I'd play him in place of those that haven't been (e.g. Fritta).

The Luke Beveridge Thread
Absolutely. The game is changing and needs fresh ideas. Bevo is notorious for being stubborn and playing favorites. Look at the absolute talent that has actively sought to leave that club over the last few years! IF we were going to look for a new coach, I would want someone young who has credentials, new ideas and has tasted victory at the highest level (ie. knows how to win). That Richmond coach looks suitable...

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
I actually think winning the flag made us get ahead of ourselves a bit. Our complacency in establishing a new & better forward structure & plan has now really come back to bite us. The 'defense and contest' approach is well and truly dead and we are being overtaken. Yes, losing Gus was awful, but every team loses senior players. We shouldn't be reliant on one bloke to hold us together. If we are, that's just another example of lazy planning. I don't think anyone could see how much Viney (in particular) as well as Clarry and Trac would drop off this season, but again, blind Freddy knew it would happen and the only way to deal with it would be to get some aggressive trades in. Similarly, every team has injury issues, but not every team is completely listless as we are.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
IN: Me. I'll be there. Can't wait to get back to the 'G. We are lucky to play there while we are still playing in the AFL. There are clearly a number of issues (selection, performance, effort, playing style) going on that indicate the leadership is failing. I would like to see old leadership OUT and new leadership IN. Doesn't have to be a person, can be an approach.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
I will concede that I don't have all the data and experience at the top flight, so I'd really like someone from the club to explain why Disco is getting dropped after 1 game and so many others who seemed (by all available metrics) worse keep their spot. I have nothing personal against Fritta and Petty, but they seem completely adrift. A week (or 2) in the magoos will be good for confidence, getting their hands on the pill etc. It will also let us try out Adams, Fullerton (sp?) and others (Culley). Given how poorly the team has performed this year, the supporters deserve a better understanding of what is happening.
