2022 Gary Ayres Award
If May did not give away those stupid frees, it would have been close to his best game in the red & blue.

CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
If Fritta does not come up, JVR may come in anyway. Could be his best opportunity, although the club would have to seriously consider T-Mac for experience in the circumstances

PODCAST: QF vs Sydney
Given we tore Brisbane apart a few week back, what do we think they will change up to try and counter us? I don't want to suggest they are a one-man side, although they are about as close as it comes

Farewell Luke Jackson
Not sure Trac offers much as a stay at home forward. He need to be in the game

Demons won't win the flag in 2022.
I think our success comes from our system, however our insistence on the system is also our downfall. We are great when the game is on our terms and we can control it. When Pies/Swans type teams really come at us and can use skill to pick us apart, there is no Plan B. Our mids are elite at winning contests, granted, however they would be well below in every other metric. We are seriously flirting the line of being โfront runnersโ.

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
It doesnโt have to be one or the other, which I know the โloadingโ camp reiterates every week

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
One thing that is overlooked a little is that we have a target on our backs as the reigning premier. Being the hunted each week is taxing, mentally and physically. We were the benchmark and teams have had to step up their game to combat us. We planned our peak absolutely perfectly last year and no doubt tried to replicate it in โ22, however our draw has been the hardest of all and itโs not even debatable. No team had played against top 8 sides more and the 3 extra times weโve done it would take its toll. The emergence of Freo and Collingwood, combined with another year of Sydney learning their game plan all adds up

Christian Petracca hairline fracture.
Trac had 24 disposals at 46% efficiency for the match. I am confident Joel Smith could have at least broken even with him over the last 3 quarters and maybe given a point of difference

Our biggest issue is...
I donโt think the running out of games is an issue, more that we are putting ourselves in losing positions because we canโt execute skills. We had plenty of the ball and plenty of shots at goal (19-21 and we had at least 3-4 that didnโt even register) The gap between individuals best and worst is stark for every single player except Clayton and possibly Petty now. Sydney won because they were able to execute their skills at a much higher level than us.

My 3 word player analysis V Sydney
May, Petty and Clarry can hold their head high. Everyone else was ordinary or worse

NON-MFC: Finals 2022 Week 01
I agree about the Daniher one, he pulled his hands out the way to let McCarthy (I think?) mark it. He would have had his mitts all over it if not for that - It was actually very smart and great awareness

Farewell Luke Jackson
I read an article today suggesting Cadman was in top three contention, so 11 is no good there

NON-MFC: Round 23, 2022
And the H&A version of Melbourne is a different calibre to the finals version, good luck

Harrison Petty incident
Was at the Gabba last night and Zorko would have been in at least 10 โscufflesโ. If he invested as much time in finding the football as he did sniping, heโd be a decent player. Heโs scum

Ben Rutten
Clarko's ego must be something pretty spectacular He'll get a monster pay day regardless of what he does and I guess his reputation will always hinge on the flags, however I can't see how either team will see him covered him in glory

Trade and Free Agency rumours
The roles of our entire forward group and in particular, Kozzie, Spargo, Melksham & ANB should all be under the microscope for 2023. It is working for our game plan at the moment but I don't know that it can for 3 years in a row. I think another goal kicking HFF/FP should be high priority, I'm not sure Trac is the answer (Similar to any of Jamie Elliot, Toby Greene, Isaac Heeney, Tom Papley, Zac Bailey). If Breust is open to it, he could fill that role. He has more goals than our guys bar Fitta, with far fewer opportunities.
