Firstly, we will try to split the pick, but may not get a good enough offer. But if we take 3 to the draft, I originally wanted us to pick Young (for his kicking) or Ash (for his speed). But I have come around to the idea of picking mid/fwd Serong. Compared to Robbie Gray & Tom Papley, I think this kid could be a gun.

When the Suns were gifted one of the top 2 picks, the thinking was that they were best mates who would go up to the GC, and stay there, which would be good for the GC retention problem. The AFL should have put a condition on picks 1 & 2 that they can't be traded out, otherwise the whole argument about why they got the pick in the first place doesn't make any sense.

It could involve future picks too

On The Road to the Draft Podcast from today, they were asked about who they would take if they got pick 3, and they answered: “they’re (the Dees) really keen to trade it, so it will be really interesting to see if they get any takers to be able to split that pick into 2 selections”

I read Knightmare say in his phantom draft, that he wouldn’t trade pick 3 for anything less than 2 picks within the top 8. He said pick 2 was (obviously) worth more, can’t remember exactly what he said though, he did say it should be 3 picks though (maybe an early 2nd as the 3rd pick). That’s as best I can remember off the top of my head. Can’t see anyone coughing up picks like that for our 2/3

On the Road To The Draft Podcast this week, they said Weightman could go between 10-20. So he has been moving up the draft order. I would also like to know which news said we were looking at him yesterday too, I couldn’t find any mention. I think he is exactly what we need though. Please don’t draft another inside mid!

They talk about him on the latest Road To The Draft Podcast, on the AFL website. I tweeted a question to them about how high he could go, and they answered it. Even made fun of my Twitter name ?

Bobby Hill looks like the type of player we should be going after - small forward/outside mid/x-factor

This. For once we have the upper hand. We should target a good player or two, to go with the picks. I don't know a great deal about their list, but small forward(s) & outside mid(s) should be the target. We should see how far we can push them.
