I can’t conceive of any reason why I’d prefer freo to win a game this year other than if it ensures we get a better finals position. The only time I barracked for the eagles in my life was round 3 this year. And I really dislike the eagles.

Long way to go in the season yet. Wouldn;t surprise me if JJ gets a good run of games yet to prove his worth. And i reckon there are others on the list who should make way before him. For e.g. if its a choice between Sparrow and JJ i'd plump for JJ. Just my opinion and not wanting to see Sparrow leave either but if thats the choice then its JJ for me.

Speaking of positives, our set shot conversion has been very good this year. I've heard mentioned it's the best in the league so far this season.

The team has produced consistent effort across 21 and 22. Granted we ran out of puff in the latter parts of games in 22 due to fatigue, injury etc. but not due to effort. We've been up and down this year intensity wise which has surprised me. Some trust has been lost from my perspective. Ultimately, it's about finishing top 4, top 2 ideally, and be in form and injury free (relatively speaking) come September. This is still totally achievable so no need to hit the panic button. But please, no more mulligans. 2 of those is enough. Approach every game with the right attitude and we'll be fine.

I don't mind Cornes and his forthright opinions. His obvious Port bias does grate though. Re JHF, i think he has been poorly advised. His people should have counselled him against moving after 1 year. Terrible look and won't endear you to the AFL public. That said fans shouldn't boo a youngster. More senior players, that should know better, maybe, but not a kid.

His defensive efforts were poor on the weekend as pointed out by the commentary team. Needs to work on this for sure. I thought his rucking and around the groundwork was ok. Needs to build his tank more. We’d be in real strife if he wasn’t around to cover for Maxy.

Melbourne were talked up preseason by David King because of the intensity of our training sessions. Where is that intensity now? We just cruised yesterday. Not acceptable. Rubbish effort. Sort yourselves out Dees.

That is the second poor game for pretty much everyone this season so I’m ok if goody wants to send a message to the Group and swings some changes. Lever and BBB are automatic inclusions if fit for Tomo and Melksham. I’m a huge fan of Spargo but maybe a run in the 2’s might help him. He’s just not his usual self at the moment. TMac? It’s getting harder to consider him best 22. His good games are too few and far between. I think he’s at a critical juncture. He needs to start performing otherwise he’s depth only.

The Brisbane game was a horror show and yesterday was nearly as bad. I don’t think the brains trust can put this down to a bad day at the office and move on. Some honest conversations required. No point talking about individual players because the whole team were shizen. We were totally outcoached for sure. Their ruck strategy worked a treat and the quick ball into their forwards had our defence scrambling all day. Essendon outworked us all around the ground. Their contest work was outstanding, and their defence stood up. Credit to them. They were very good and are a better team than I realised. But you can talk about game plan and tactics all you like but without the right attitude and appetite for work it means nought. They came to play and we didn’t. We need to find out this week why that was and address it. And I'm not buying fatigue as a reason. 9 days til Anzac eve. I expect a big response. And if we’re going to get beat let’s die with our boots on. No more of this half-hearted rubbish. Having Essendon pull our pants down like that is embarrassing.

I'm watching the replay and just seen some Essendon supporters in the crowd carrying on like nuffies. God help us all if they have a good season.
