The thing that [censored] me about this is the AFL have endorsed this kind of action (ref. Pendlebury let off for striking Lachie Neale in the solar plexus with open palm in recent years, etc.). Now a similar action has led to a player suffering a collapsed lung. Striking is striking, irrespective of whether it is via fist or palm. Well done AFL, this is on you.
