Bizarre to me that the AFL scheduled byes in a compressed season replete with 4-day breaks. And our "bye" was spent with our whole squad playing a practice match on the 'G - hardly a break. That said, if I recall Essendon had their tails up at that stage - we were far from a certainty of winning that game anyway.

There is a reason soldiers are trained to scream and yell when bayoneting. It invokes primal aggression, gets adrenaline pumping, fine-tunes 4 billion years of evolutionary advantages that have seen countless generations of our ancestral tree get the better of their opposition. Omac seemed poor tonight; not to make excuses, but what are peoples' thoughts on the effect the inclusion of Smith might have had on his role and the synergy of our defence?

The worry for me is I've heard him in about four interviews try to explain his role, and his responses were confounding. Hard to deliver in an ill-defined role.
