  1. Looking forward to seeing if Jefferson has managed to put on a few kegs in the off season. I was looking for some YouTube footage of our new recruits when I stumbled across the 2022 game of Vic Metro vs WA when he kicked 7!! Don’t think anybody managed to kick a bag that big in this years champs. I remember an interview he gave this year where he mentioned he’s already put on 6/7kg. If he managed to put on the same again he will be an interesting watch this preseason.
  2. And we have heard several times there was a lovely roast cooked. Was it beef or lamb?

This is my biggest worry for next year. I think the extra bye in round 6 could be a big help to keeping Max fresh and injury free but you can’t help but feel that if the great man goes down injured then our season is cooked. I feel as though the footy department must have a move up their sleeve or know something we don’t. Perhaps they think Verral will progress quicker than others do. Perhaps one of Hore and Melksham won’t make the rookie list. Hore might go to Casey or we find a coaching role for Jake. I just find it hard to believe that the same footy department that made a big move last year to bring in a second AA ruck would roll the dice on big Max staying fit.
  4. Yeah I tend to think time will show that this was a quality draft. Both for top end talent and depth. Cal rated his top 10 in this years draft higher than 2018. I think the first round quality also went pretty deep. Wilson went pick 18 and should have a solid AFL career. A lot of list managers and recruiters said that the next tier of player( from say pick 18 onwards) was very even rather than poor. Take Collingwood for example they would be stocked to get DeMattia at 25 and Tee Jiath at 37. I think the trade up from 14-11 was more about putting our hat in the ring for Reid or another one of the top 4. I guess you have to be in it to win it but unfortunately we lost. We didn’t have the list spot this year anyways but we could have had a much stronger hand next year.
  5. Probably not be we could have turned them into one or two good picks for next year.
  6. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess. But we gave up two decent picks to get Tholstrup instead of Leake who was taking at our original pick. Seems a lot to pay.
  7. I would say every poster on here would back JT over any other poster. We can still all have opinions and be civil about it. No need to be shoot down other posters for the sake of it. By the way every form guide that was published during the season agreed with Danny.
  8. Welcome Koltyn. Can’t wait see how you career develops at the Dees. Just compared his profile to Humphreys from last year. Although not exactly a like for like there’s a lot of similarities. Both mid/forward types tough and hard at it, have scoreboard impact, power, kicking penetration and good marking ability. JT clearly had a type in mind. Unlike others I think Koltyn is a a very good chance to make an impact next year. Already has lots of experience playing against seniors and is already in great physical shape. Doesn’t seems like much will bother him. Had an injury interrupted season last year, good preseason and I don’t see why he can’t push for a spot early next year.

Adelaide hold picks 10, 14 and 20 and are tipped to do a trade with GWS for pick 7
  10. From his Rookie me central profile-“Another facet of Windsor's game he has shown improvement in is his kicking. He often gets good length and is capable of slotting impressive goals on the run, but does a lot of work at speed and that can impact his efficiency in the short-range. When more measured, he is capable of sharp passes which do damage.” If JT thinks he’s the man at 6 I’m happy with that but we may need to lower our expectations of his current abilities. I’m sure he will continue to improve his kicking including when moving at pace.

Think the highlighted bit would be on offer to us if we wanted to do the deal.

On the BigFooty rumour thread that WC are putting their pick 23 on the table along with future first to try and Curtin before Crows make a move. We would surely have to consider it?! Use our own future first and their second rounder to get Swans pick?! Although all the mail seems to suggest we will take Windsor and Tholstrup at our current picks.

I will get on board with whatever JT decides but I’ll be pretty gutted if Geelong mange to snare Curtin

Bit late to the party McKercher and Tholstrup if we trade with Hawks. Curtin and Tholstrup if we don’t. given the quality available at our picks I’m going to be happy with whoever JT picks.
  15. Pretty sure WC future first is on the table for Curtin without any other add ons. We would only put our future first on the table for their pick 23

Eagles could easily split 11 and end up with 2 of Tholstrup, Hardeman or Collard along with Curtin and a future first. IF (and it’s a huge if) they think Curtin gets to our pick they would be mad not to do it. I don’t think we are playing games though, it’s not our style. Our interest in Tholstrup must be genuine.

12 days off for our bye round 14. Better than 10 we had this year but 14/15 would have been nice. Overall I think it’s a good draw for us.

We are starting to be linked with a few players that are rated a bit lower down than our pick 11 so I wonder if your right and we are covering our bases should we end up doing a trade with north for picks 3&15.
  19. That’s ok. We can then grab Leake
  20. Colm replied to Whispering_Jack's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
I’ll join in. I’m hoping we get a tall defender and a classy outside mid but also like the look of Leake. My preference for pick 6 are as follows. Curtin O'Sullivan Leake Sanders Watson For pick 11 Any of the above that slide and Windsor Wilson Caddy I haven’t seen enough of Edwards or Tholstrup but given their right ups if JT was to pick either here I wouldn’t be disappointed.
  21. Twomey said both the bombers and crows would try and move up if Curtin was still on the board at our pick.

Surprised to see he has us taking Edwards with our second pick. He already has been tipped as a bolter this year but pick 11( 13 after academy) is much higher than I’ve seen him anywhere else. I haven’t seen him at all but his rookie me central profile suggest he has a skill set we would be interested in. Strengths- clean hands, kicking, running capacity and upside.

Just listened to Gettable , Cal doesn’t seem to think North will pick Curtin at 2 or 3. Hawks are the biggest chance to take him before our pick. They are deciding between him and Watson

I think the Suns might yet have a massive part to play with pick 1 although in a more indirect way. They are still short on points required for their academy players and have picks 24 (second pick in the second round), 26&27. Should they part with the first two of those 3 picks in a trade involving WC and North and perhaps ourselves for a mix of later and future picks then you might think it’s unlikely that any of the clubs involved would bid on their academy players( be very close to draft tampering). IF Walters slipped past 2&3 that would saving the Suns 400 points alone. It would add two decent picks to the mix to be part of an overall deal and might help get it over the line.

@Pennant St Dee Do you know what the WA prospects for 2024 are looking like? Just trying to gauge what WC could do over a two year period rather than just this draft. If they don’t trade pick one they don’t have a great hand after it in this years draft. Trading out future Picks will be their only way to move up the order this year.
