Not sure tbh, it was in an article rather than on a stats site so don't have last year's numbers in front of me. Anecdotally, it felt like last year we did go down the line a lot, probably to more success, but did also feel like we played on more often and switched more often.
-
Will be interesting. This year we are 1st for kicking down the line and 18th for switching. You're 100% correct Max is a big reason for this, but do we change that for a few weeks and then go back to it? Do we change it for good? Do we leave it and just try to do it better? It's also been noticeable how we've been avoiding Langdon's wing since his injury, would hope he's all good now after the break and it might resume more often? Really is a fascinating week tactically for us.
-
Only problem is, we never switch anymore...

Offering him less than what the media has rumoured, and has already been rubbished, is not the same as 'offering him unders', which is what you originally stated. You make everyone fair offers, sell them on your culture and chances of success along with that. Tough talking, under offering and 'hard ball' will only see you lose players and get a bad reputation. Start running a club with a 'take it or leave it' approach and your list falls apart real quick.
-
This is a 10 out of 10 for how you don't want to run a professional football club. Disrespect one of your employees by offering them "unders" and then turn around and say they 'left for money'. Completely ridiculous.

I give Ginnivan a 5, but he's a ducker...
-
Yeah, I wouldn't take the gamble personally. I'd just be saying 'look at this bloke! A premiership winger, an A grade half back and 3rd in the Brownlow as a mid!'
-
Disagree on that part mate. He's not going to play better in the midfield than he currently is at half back, and on top of that; all it takes is one head knock and his market value dissipates.
-
Has always felt like they're linked in one way or another.
-
They probably only have 1 player who is worth around the same on the market, so a few players fates may be intertwined...
-
If Jacko does end up deciding to leave, it will be to Freo and we won't be getting draft picks back.
-
Yeah for sure, definitely agree on that. Just reckon he should be under the spotlight more than Weid.
-
But wouldn't BB having the far greater upside and proven record mean he should be judged accordingly?
-
From the very same game: Ben Brown - 2 disposals, 1mark, 0 goals, 1 tackle It's interesting to weigh their forms and output against the commentary by fans about their performances this year. Season averages: Brown - 8.1 disposals, 3.3 marks, 0.8 contested marks, 1.6 marks inside 50, 1.7 goals, 0.6 tackles Weid - 8.2 disposals, 3.2 marks, 1.3 contested marks, 1.5 marks inside 50, 1.5 goals, 1.2 tackles For clarity, I'm not saying Weid has been good by any stretch, but comparatively there has been very little talk about Brown's extremely poor 2022. Would also be interested if there was a stat about contests lost, as he seems to have been especially bad at that this year. Rated as 'below average' for 7 out of his 10 games this year, including the last 5 in a row. Brown is also miles behind his averages for 2021 in key areas like marks, contested marks, marks inside 50, tackles, inside 50s, and massively behind on metres gained - and some of those stats tell me he's not covering as much ground and applying anywhere near the same amount of pressure, yet he's averaging slightly more time on ground. The pressure should well and truly be on this senior player who absolutely is letting us down this year, instead of the ridiculous amount of focus on a depth forward on a short and minimal contract.
-
Come on mate, you're better than that. The players aren't executing, there's a mountain of discussion about why, but the problem isn't the game plan. If you believe that the coaches got together and said 'next year we're not going to pressure, we're going to clump our forwards, and we're going to turn it over as much as possible' then I think you need to reconsider your "I can only go on what I am seeing" philosophy.
-
So this year they implemented a change to the game plan to tell forwards to crowd together and everyone to run by themselves?
-
Different personnel doesn't mean new game plan, in fact, I would argue it means quite the opposite. Clearly we haven't executed the game plan well for most of the year, but it's safe to assume we haven't changed much about it since last year. So what parts of our premiership winning game plan do you suggest we change?
-
Sorry mate, don't have this year's premiership photo yet...
-
Not sure why the 'yeah nah' then in response to me saying 'don't change the game plan'?
-
Yeah nah, "tinkering" might happen, sure, but you don't completely change the game plan now. Farcical suggestion.

As 'reported' by Jack Watts... “I think I would have seen this 20 times over my career,” he said on a new episode of KFC SuperFooty TV. “If you had have asked me (which) two Melbourne players were in a scuffle, I would have probably said these two. “Clearly they’ve had a bit too much to drink, it gets a bit chirpy and something’s pushed over the line – they’re good mates ... it obviously got to that point where Melky’s had enough.” Watts revealed former teammates Nathan Jones and Jeremy Howe had been involved in a similar incident during his time at the Dees. “Jonesy and Howey had a good one one year, just a little fisticuff to the grill. “It was exactly what would have happened here – Howey gets pretty chirpy on the p---, so does Jonesy, they were both going at each other and one person’s just had enough.”
