Yep, sorry, should have clarified.

Thanks guys. Missed that bit among all the reports about the forum. Won't roll over it again now as I guess it's been covered, but seems a strange call given he looked better in the small amount he played forward, than back.
-
Hey mate, where did you see that? Cheers.

Because none of them have proved their more than decent depth yet, because we've had a game plan that relied on frenzied delivery and key forwards 'bringing the ball to ground', and because we just delisted our most dangerous small forward who also lead our average goal kicking for 2019.

Do I get half a poiint if we bid on him but GWS take him? Just have this feeling GWS will be rapt to get Jackson, and MFC rate Green VERY highly.

Pick 3 - Green Pick swap with Geelong. Pick 14 - Weightman Pick 17 - Pickett

Could you guys merge these threads maybe? Cheers.

According to this article no one is captain at this stage and Goody has declared it's all open. In this below article, Viney states he would love to lead the club again but would 100% support Gawn as captain if that was to happen. “I’m not sure what will happen,” Viney told the Sunday Herald Sun. “I’d love to co-captain the club with (Gawn), but Goody from the get-go said that position, the captaincy, was going to be open. “There’s nothing set in stone, he’s just going to let the pre-season unfold and then he’ll evaluate and the players will evaluate it and we’ll come up with the combination we feel is best for the club. “I love leading the footy club, but at the same time if the coaches think Maxy is the best man to take us forward and there’s no co-captaincy, or whatever needs to be done, I’ll support 100 per cent. “But I love the responsibility and leading the club.” Viney was unsure what method the Demons would choose to appoint next year’s skipper. Some clubs conduct private ballots while others opt for players casting their votes openly to encourage them giving peers constructive feedback. “Often the players have a strong input, the coaches have some input as well and Goody and the big dogs will decide and work it out from there,” Viney said. Viney: I'd '100 percent' support captain Max (paywall)

Wow! I know brother's don't always end up playing together, but that's an intriguing point. Thanks.

My question was about what their academy player status is expected to be next year though. I get what you're saying, but was interested to weigh up the chances of it pending what they have planned to do/need for next year. Cheers.

That's why I was asking questions about the specifics of next year's academy picks. Just wondering who they have coming through, and if it just means their first rounders get burned next year anyway in the same they would this year. Hopefully that makes sense?

Cody Weightman (Drafted by Western Bulldogs)

Yeah for sure, very well could be. -
Would you rather fill our list spots with first and second round picks, or one top pick and a bunch of rookies? If anyone should know about not putting all the eggs in one basket, it's Dees fans.
-
Could that put them in trouble next year though? As in, do they have a similar academy player to think about then? There's a heap of them next year isn't there?

I'll take your word for on it the draftees mate, I'm far from an expert on that stuff, especially this year. Still a chance we do another pick deal, potentially with Geelong. We're pushing for it, but not sure how keen the Cats are, so that may change the scenario yet again. I'm pretty sure you could bid 'twice' like that, would make sense. The intrigue will surround whether GWS match or not as they would find Jackson very appealing and the word I've heard is that MFC rate Green as the best player in the draft. Should we bid on Green it really is because we want him, not just to stop GWS' advantage. Haven't heard us linked to Henry anywhere apart from a few hypothetical media articles, so we might not be considering him, or of course I just haven't heard things, which is very possibly obviously. Green and Weightman are the ones I think we really want, but it will be about doing the deal to have the right weighted picks and then hoping no one else jumps in first. -
Not 100% sure mate. All I know is the club is apparently pushing for the deal, so only really know our side of it and not sure on how receptive Geelong are being.
-
I think there's still some moving parts, so not sure it would mean he's a top 10 pick (could be reliant on the Geelong pick swap), just know the club is keen on picking him up at the appropriate spot.
-
Don't know a ton about this year's potential draftees tbh, didn't think I'd need to follow them closely this year, but from what I know the club is VERY keen on Weightman, and the only way we won't be reading out his name is if someone else snaps him up first. Likely scenario IMO seems to be 10 & 28 to Geelong for 14 & 17, and we then take Weightman with one of those picks.

Semi-reliable source said we were already in negotiations yesterday.

My track record speaks for itself Basil. Stick to the jokes, the classic Demonland nastiness doesn't suit you.

Was mentioned in the articles about Brown training with us that he would be a rookie if we took him.
