  1. Would assume this is based on contribution over the decade rather than a list of simply 'best players'. As good as Gawn and Clarry are, they've both only had 3-4 years each of high impact compared to the consistent performance of Jones over the 10 year time frame.
  2. More than fair enough mate. I have a healthy amount of skepticism too, but I'm a huge PJ fan so I have this strange amount of hope and trust for a Dees supporter about this.
  3. Given PJ and the AFL both signed off on the deal I've got a fair bit of trust that there are things in the works to replace that income.
  4. Missed my point mate. I'm talking about the perspective here, people are acting like pokies are the only thing that will see us succeed as a business.
  5. Because it wouldn't be anything to do with the departure of Pedersen, Hogan and T.Smith over the last couple of years and the injury worries for TMac... But yeah, they probs re-contracted Weid due to that lack of faith.
  6. Looks like Hertz have replaced Johnnie Walker on the shorts with JW no longer a sponsor (going by the MFC Sponsors page).
  7. Haha yeah your reply button is quicker than my edit button!
  8. Don't see any Jag logo.... (or were they always on the back?) Edit - Yep, just checked, they were on the back. Johnnie Walker gone though?
  9. All fair mate. We've probably both said our pieces now. Hopefully Gus can regain his form and confidence next year, he's a very important player for us. Cheers!
  10. Was pretty clear he was badly out of form and going downhill as the season went on. We're not arguing about that surely? Last year he was dropped for poor standards, came back and had a great season. This year they did the opposite and it had the opposite effect. I don't know mate, seems reasonably simple to me, and not something only club insiders can see.
  11. I don't think you're getting what I'm saying mate, might be my fault for not explaining it well enough. We agree Gus was badly out of form and it got worse as the year went on right? To me, that's enough to manage him differently, try to either get his form and confidence back at VFL level OR get his body right, whichever it was that was causing that drop off. I'm not saying I know which it was, or even if it was both, I'm just saying that either way; running him into the ground and playing him all 22 games didn't work. When I'm saying 'management' I'm speaking holistically, not just about injury management. Hope that makes better sense than how I've put it previously? (We may still disagree of course, which is fine)
  12. Sure, but that's my point about management. Gus looked absolutely defeated and shot as the season went on, so it seems incredibly poor player management to keep running him down purely on the basis that his injury won't get worse when his form and our finals chance both say it was not worth doing that. He got worse as the year went on binman. Not sure you can guarantee his 'learnings' in that context, and his body language late in the season was a pretty solid indicator of where he was at mentally IMO. And tbh, I'm staggered you thought and incredibly out of form and likely injured Brayshaw was a good option to be selected in a team out of the race early in the season.
  13. Sorry LH, should have clarified, that wasn't directed at you, was a general comment about this thread. Apologies.
  14. I'm just saying let's hold off the lynch mob for now. Our previous CEO, whom I sure most rate very highly, signed off on this and clearly had plans in the works. The AFL also looked over the plans and the books and ticked it off. I'll take that over anything that has been 'mooted' at this stage. Instead of everyone getting so outraged, why don't we give it the actual time it needs to play out before starting our board ticket?
  15. We will still have revenue from the Bentleigh Club, just not from pokies. Also, Jackson said at the time: ‘‘If you take the gaming revenue out of the equation, we need to make up 10 per cent of our overall revenue. Over a two- to three-year period, we will be able to readjust and grow, and we have several ideas on how to do that.’’ So maybe people are overreacting about the impact of the pokies revenue? At least for now.
  16. Deluca just today has signed with the Hawks. Edit - Just realized that's the Hawks of Box Hill, rather than Glenferrie. As you were.
  17. Players were drafted mid-season this year, hardly think it's /thread time due to that.
  18. His form and confidence as the year went on contradicts that.
  19. Yeah, was just about to edit my post to add "do we get anything from that?" but you were too quick for me!
  20. Agree with your point, but isn't our training base "AAMI Park"?
  21. Haven't been down to watch a sesh, but drive past often and backing up what others have said; Tomlinson is one big unit, it's noticeable even from the road. Has a bit of Paddy Cripps about him (not comparing them as players of course), but just that presence of size. He's an intriguing player for us next year.
  22. What I said was: It should be when dealing with an out of form player in a team with 0 chance of playing finals after about round 6. It's incredibly poor management if it's what has happened. Maybe you interpreted it differently to intended, but if you think continually playing an out of form and injured player in every game, when finals are totally out of the question, when that player has a history of concussion, when you risk that player having another interrupted preseason is good management, then we very much disagree on how the management of players should be handled. You had a crack at me be for being "ill informed" and having "zero idea about Brayshaw's injury" situation, but I clearly said "if it's what has happened" which pretty obviously implies I don't know his injury situation and I'm talking about the handling of it in the scenario that he was indeed playing injured. Which again, would bring me to my above point where we must very much differ on what is good player management in the context of our 2019 season. And to finish by addressing your concept of the what was happening (ironic given you know as much as I do and you had a go at me for that), I think it's safe to say Brayshaw did not improve as the year went on.
  23. IF you read the post properly maybe you would...
  24. Yep, so no surgery as mentioned, and as mentioned if he was carrying such an injury, and combining it with poor form, it seems a baffling decision to play him every single game; especially once our season was dead and buried.
  25. Drives me insane when people don't read posts properly too.
