  1. Why ET? As in the WCE don't want to win too many games in 2024 ?
  2. It was scores from the defensive mid zone, which ultimately mean scores from back half turnovers. Funny the stat was a raw number but instead a % of our overall scoring. It’s a bit misleading as we are 8th for total scores for. I think the main change is using the corridor more to move the ball by foot quicker to give our forwards a better chance. Simple by design but proving challenging for our team to execute.
  3. Grundy was a wasted bet. Gawn excels as the main ruckman playing 80-90% in the ruck. He can’t play forward, which was the crux of the plan. Simirlaly for Grundy. We tried, it failed , move on. JJ different story though. We didn’t expect Brayshaw to retire. If he retire prior to trade period, JJ would have been guaranteed more game time and money and would have stayed.
  4. Shocking call there.
  5. It’s not in my book but wanted to highlight a massive fixturing inequality. With 5 day breaks we don’t have a main training session, so to work on tactics, game plan etc is reduced.
  6. This is how we got a double whammy with Brayshaw. People don’t realise the impact that one hit has had. If Brayshaw retired immediately then JJ stays. But he didn’t and we ended up losing 2 players.
  7. You just have to wonder if this is having an effect on players. Of course if they haven’t done anything wrong then there is nothing to worry about.
  8. So, the game against the Blues will be a 2nd 5 day break of the season. Have a guess how many Carlton will have had in the same time.
  9. To me it’s the difference of having the potential to be a dynasty team and one that just wins a flag. Tigers getting Lynch got them another 2. I don’t know if we rested on our laurels after 2021 thinking Tmac and BBB were going to be enough - clearly that didn’t bode well once TMac got injured and BBB was all but done. When we had the picks from LJ in the 2022 draft we went for a ruck in Grundy relying on Gawn to play as a KPF - again plugging a hole , maybe we missed a trick.
  10. I have the same feeling. We have a better chance against Carlton as Scott just knows how to beat us a million different ways.
  11. I hate it when umpiring ruins games. 2-3 umpire goals in a 10 pt loss is just not acceptable in modern footy. Happens almost every game in Adelaide.
  12. Another [censored] goal. [censored] this is too obvious
  13. How’s was that HTB call to open the 4th. Umps not interested in squaring things up.
  14. Umpiring in Adelaide has to be reviewed. It’s consistently bad.
  15. Umps doing their thing
  16. It was a replica game in terms of dominance when we played the Lions. We at least held them at bay wrt scoring.
  17. That is an interesting take. We can walk him straight to the pre-season draft if that's the go and watch Norf who are in desperate need of KPD's snap him up.
  18. .Our dna is contested footy. Our list is built on this. Whilst I said what i said, I highly doubt our contested, forward half game is just being tossed out. That’s the recipe to win finals. Our ball movement and scoring were the areas of concern in past years and moving it faster from back half intercepts is a great source of turnover potential. Also gives our forwards a chance as the old bomb it in and hope for the best doesn’t work. Clearances and stoppage dominance may not be the honeypot we want but it does give you territory, which is a key part of our dna.
  19. Cam will be rusty and no guarantees for Stewart. Their midfield and ball movement will make it really hard work for us - if we put up anything like the last 3 weeks of footy we are in a lot of trouble. Hopefully they are a bit bruised up after playing the Blues.
  20. Shot. Makes the loss even more painful to bare. The only other team they have beaten is Norf. It’s not good company to keep for the time being.
  21. What’s special about this ground?
  22. First time watching Callaghan play. Would be great if we could get him to our club.
  23. It feels like we are no good, you yourself admitted to as much in the previous post. I’ll park it here for now and see how the next two weeks unfold.
  24. I think I’m trying to find the stats that help put facts behind feelings. And what I can see is that we are way off on the game we used to play. I’ll give Goody the benefit in that we have had double straight set exits and he has recognised the need to change. Our contested and clearance dominance is significantly off and that for a large parts explains what feels like a huge drop off in our stoppage dominance. Is this a lull? A design change ? Who knows but it’s what our list was built on. Our pressure numbers are also really poor with another 150 quarter this year which is deplorable. Top 4 teams are undone largely through pressure and whilst we are only at round 7, you cannot just flick a switch and expect it to come back. I don’t expect to win every week but the last 3-4 weeks we haven’t played good footy and are lucky walking away with 3-1. I’ll eat my hat if we win even 1 out of our next 2. A lot will need to go right I think.
  25. Checking some of the champion data stats pretty much shows what a lot of the doomsdayers on here feel (including me) - bottom 4 disposal eff - below AFL avg contested possessions ( yes that’s right) we are bottom 6 so far - bottom 4 handball efficiency - bottom 4 centre clearances ( yes my eyes don’t deceive me) - below afl avg inside 50s There’s a bunch of stats and it’s not all bad - leading intercept matks - top 2 expected scores
