This unfortunately is what a portion of society will think and rightly so. If its not about $$ (as is the case for ABC), then you have to question whether there is egotism involved. Giving the coaches 24 hours to respond (to an email and voicemail) on what is probably one of the biggest controversies in AFL history just beggars belief. To me it is clear there was a timeline to adhere to which centered around having the story in circulation in the lead up to the Grand Final. Sticking to that timeline was paramount and that meant going about consultation with all stakeholders in a sloppy and stealthy way.

I probably wouldn’t rest him for 4 games but definitely 2. Maybe give him the week after the bye for an extended break. And then another about a Round 20. Is also look to rotate rests in our midfield core. We have plenty of midfield depth to give Trac, Oliver, Viney and Brayshaw a week off in the 2nd half of the year. I think we’ll see the likes of Taj, Dunstan, Chandler feature a bit more prominently in the midfield this year.

Fixture and list health had a lot to do with their build up. If the powers that be were to acknowledge this then, you can at least do something to make the draw fairer. Our game plan is somewhat outdated. You may find it laughable but we cannot go into 2023 and expect a different result. It may not be A major overhaul but we definitely need to work on more direct method. I can’t work out the f50 lack of pressure though. Some say effort but I think it’s the way we deliver i50 and how the opposition rebound in numbers and get through our zone.

Solid summary. Grundy should take the bulk of the tap outs and Max play FF. He just needs to work on his goal kicking - he is one of the comps better contested marks inside 50 , which is what our game plan demands. With a solid pre season in the F50, they should work on their leading patterns so that BBB, and Max lead to different parts of the forward line.

I’ve actually thought this too. I just don’t think Goody will change enough and with the looming exit of Yze and possibly Mark Williams, the incoming coaches will probably not feel comfortable in challenging him.

I’m glad all the focus will now go into Geelong given how convincing they have been. The odds from Rd 1, the pressure and scrutiny on every loss, the footy experts try to find a reason why you are not up to it. The leaked press about something so insignificant but front page worthy and that every team will now hunt you and be the team to beat the premiers - especially at their home ground. Glad we won’t have that on us and we can go about our business.

They will but I’ll bet my house they find a way to make it easier than ours. They will probably play a majority of the top 8 games at GMHBA and their away games to the bottom 4. 3/3 last games will be in VIC (MCG away games + GMHBA home games).
