  1. The point of this tweet is to seek attention, we have given it 5 pages of attention. While racism should not be tolerated neither should virtue signalling a post that everyone it seems, thinks should not be tolerated. Moderators should have killed this thread within the first few replies. Keeping it on here is justifying the success of this type of post for attention seeking.I am sure the demonland rules are against promoting racism. Just having a thread on it is supporting racism. A football thread is not the place for this sort of thread anyway.
  2. The season is hollow enough, I would rather earn the win beating them at footy.
  3. Don't listen to "reports"- listen to medical research. We have done really well in this country following medical advice. We are lucky to have any footy at all at the moment. The protocol and bi-weekly testing has done its job. You don't need to tell us about brain fade pondering.
  4. While I am not questioning your medical qualifications, I do not see how someone who has had 5 tests that are negative over 3 weeks, why you think they still have it?
  5. They said in the press release that he had 5 negative tests. The most resent negative test was Wednesday. Friday's test was ambiguous and the retest on Saturday was positive.
  6. Gawn was great for 4 quarters but Carlton seemed to make better use of him in the second half. The % hit out to advantage does not seem a very important statistic. It is so good to read a well researched well written analysis that treats fans as though they have a brain. So sick of the hyperbole driven coverage of tribal religious skirmishes. It is a game and a business that has great cultural value in the community. The hubs and the spirit the games have been played in at the moment are showing this. I am so sick of professional wrestling type commentary that overstates the obvious and has unnecessary speculation on what may or may not have happened. Unfortunately the point of poor commentary, especially from "experts," is to make lowest common denominator fans feel smarter and better about themselves. Next time anyone wants to [censored] about bad commentators, remember they are there to misread the obvious.
  7. At his age nobody would pick up May's contract based on his output since becoming a demon. If they would we should trade him in a heartbeat. He is not a good lock down defender and and we have others who do what he does as well or better and cheaper. His mistakes are costly and he makes too many of them. The next time the Dee's are competitive in the finals May will not be in the team.
  8. Leaver is a smart footballer in his prime, a safe pair of hands. We generally over pay and lose out on trades. May is a worse example. We gave up pick 6 for him as well. Over priced and a really dumb footballer. At his age not much future, I would rather develop other younger players. We have a few of not very good return on investment, Like Pruess, Vandenberg and Kolodjashnij
  9. Our biggest problems are in the backline. May and Jetta cost goals because they don't read the play well and make bad decisions. The backs lack system and do not help each other enough. Unfortunately we have drafted too many intercept defenders. May, Leaver. Rivers. Hore and Hibbid all have the same skill set. L think the best at the moment are Rivers and Leaver. Leaver had a bad game but his mistakes are not as costly. We did not draft any accountable lockdown defenders. We can only fit two of these guys in the team. Jetta. when beaten gets beaten badly. For mine Lockhart played better in the first game and is a better option at the moment. We should try and trade May, he is a liability because he is not smart. I don't think May would be getting a game anywhere and we are the suckers who got stuck with him, he is not the future. Games with the shorter quarters have shown quicker teams have an advantage. We should be picking our fastest team every week. i don't mind Jackson because he is quick, smart and better below the knees than other options and he is better in the ruck. There may be a bit of flexibility when we play slower teams but we should pick the quicker team every week.
  10. Given that this season will be more like an exhibition rather that a season that gives all teams more of an equal fair go, should it have the same status as other seasons? Should there be a Grand Final this year?
  11. He should shut up and get on with it. He has proved he is a poor trainer, I would rather hear from just about anybody else at the club who has played less than ten games, how training is going. I would not be promoting May's opinion.
  12. May has been telling us how ready he is since he joined the club. May needs to shut up and prove it on the field. I am not sure why he gets asked anything. Just because we paid too much for him does not make his opinion worth more than any player. When footy gets back to a full season and we make the finals, I doubt May will be in the team. He was too old and over rated when we got him and he is yet to prove he has been worth the trouble and expense.
  13. Gawn is the only one who one could argue was elite. We have a couple who are potential elite, Oliver and Petracca. We mostly have solid above average players who often will be consistent with contribution to the team. (Brayshaw,Viney, Melksham, Fritch,T Mac, Harmes), We have many that have shown glimpses but need to show more consistency. (Lever, Picket, Langdon, Tomlinson, Salem). Our biggest problem is defence with a large group of players who need to prove their potential. (May, Jetta, Petty, Smith, Hore, Lockhart, OMac) It is not the elite players who win finals. Every team has some and they can cancel each other out. It is the depth of players 18-28. This group we have been improving. We have many with too much to prove. (AVB, ANB, Hannan, Brown, Wiedeman, OMac, May, Bennell, Jackson, Brown, Spargo) and anybody else who has had little chance to have an impact. Some will make the team others should not. We have too much dead wood with no future of being best 22. I do not see much success under Goodwin's coaching. If we have success it will be despite the coaching and drafting.
  14. Unlikely but possible. Hogan would need to get delisted first but if fit, he would be more help than a few on our list. I would welcome him back in a heartbeat if he was committed to come like Bennell was. Hogan was more stable and successful at the Dee's and he knows this. I don't think there are many clubs that would be able to help him.
  15. The amount of pointless analysis for a game that the team and club did not want to play, after the season was shut down, is remarkably stupid and tragic. The game should not have gone ahead, that it did does not give a reflection of the team or prospects. Playing 17 rounds will never never be fair for teams playing interstate. Stop talking about this season, it will not count. Playing the game was about advertising, not football.
  16. I don't know, if it was me I would be pretty angry and determined, if the team could be inspired. Wins and losses will be meaningless in a dead season.
  17. heard on the grapevine that this has not been a good trip for Melbourne. They had to move hotels and have had little sleep and stability pre-game. Players vomiting from the overpowering smell of disinfectant. This will be the last game for a while, men or women. The only option seems to have all the teams playing and staying in a remote venue and doing as many games as they can in a month or so. It seems this is more to meet advertising contracts not footballing needs. To continue the existing season will be near impossible and may damage the AFL brand. Put a line through this season and maybe plan a carnival type format in a few months if it is safe.
  18. Spargo is good enough to mind someone else's spot. I can't see him holding his place if Jones, Salem, Hannan, Bennell or AVB are available. Spargo does his job OK but all these others do what they do better than him. I think Lockhart and Brown should get the last spots.
  19. Do you watch sport in the hope someone might die? No, just avoiding avoidable risks. Nobody should die for football. The competition will still be there after the crisis.
  20. A better question, that should be on the list is: Is it worth risking lives for the sake of football?
  21. you can tell by the teams he picks that he does not read reality well. We are all lucky he is not on the match committee, we would have not won a game for years.
  22. Don't really like this guilting people into buying a membership. MFC is a business and is subject to much regulation. If teams fail it has an affect on all teams. This is how we got Roos. For more than 50 years MFC has been selling an ordinary product and winning a compromised season would be of lesser status than winning any of the seasons than were not compromised. What should be the real angst priority here is finding a vaccine, not getting a refund for a membership. It would be of more use if the whole season was suspended and as much money as possible was put into research and testing for a vaccine.
  23. I agree that Viney is one dimensional. We were able to cover his loss to injury better than any other injury last year. It was not our midfield that was the problem. We won enough of the ball to be more successful. I do think he is good enough to be in the midfield rotation. I don't think he is first picked quality anymore. He does not work as well with some combinations of our midfield. He is a high quality second string midfielder the problem is what to do with him when he is not in the midfield and do others offer more. He has runs on the board and if he recognised he was a liability he would not hurt the team. Success on the field has more to do with the best 25-30 not the best 22 and Viney would be well good enough for that.
  24. First choice would be T Mac and then Fritch. Of these 4 in order subject to injuries. Brown is the most ready to go. Then Weid but he is really a third tall and would be playing out of position. Petty has not proved he is a forward and is definitely not a natural forward. Jackson has not proved he can play any position let alone that of a full forward.
  25. Lets hope the added pressure of mumbling through serious post-game interviews does not make his game go backwards or that he inherits Viney's injury issues and misses much of the season. I think this is an appointment for fans and will not help with any on field problems. How important is a captain anyway?
