  1. Very true. If Goodwin doesn't change then nothing will change next year.
  2. Wasn't he one of the assistant coaches sacked by Richmond who then went on to win three premierships?
  3. Yes. If the coaches want congestion, then we have to put rules in place to force the players to spread. Stop the coaches!
  4. You make a fair point. Yes there may be occasions where it's favourable to breach the rule, but the coaches would each have to develop a strategy for how this would work. It may be that the team cannot breach the rule unless instructed by the coach either during breaks or via the runner. Coaches may decide that individual players can break the rule but only in limited situations. As a spectator, I don't really care about these machanations, that's for the coaches to figure out. As long as we can give the players more space for the majority of the game, then that's a big win.
  5. Players will have to follow the rule otherwise they penalise their own team. Coaches will not hold up any sign. The coaches will have to instruct their players not to breach the rule and it's up to the players to execute that instruction just like any instruction from the coach. This is how starting positions changes the coaches' mindset.
  6. Nope. We don't wait for anybody to be in the zone. If the required number of players aren't in the fifty, the team is docked rotations
  7. Well there must be three players from each team inside fifty at every stoppage. If there's a breach, that team is docked rotations for that game. If a team has reached zero rotations and there's a breach, then they will be docked rotations from the next game. The rule is policed by an off-field umpire, therefore there's no extra rules for the on-field umpires to adjudicate, no extra whistles and no waiting for players to be in position.
  8. Correct. Stop the coaches! I think I might put it on a t-shirt.
  9. Nope. We don't wait for players to get into position. If they're not in position the team is docked rotations.
  10. Yes, once you're down to zero you start losing rotations from your next match.
  11. Even if you reduced it down to forty rotations per game, that's still one rotation every two minutes. How many rotations do they need!
  12. It's not a weak penalty if one team is fresher because they have more rotations.
  13. Sixteen a side will do bugger all because it only reduces the congestion from thirty-six to thirty-two
  14. The 2021 rule changes are still tinkering around the edges but at least the AFL is acknowledging that congestion is a problem and still trying to do something. Something is better than nothing.
  15. Nope, there's no waiting for players to go back into the zone. If the six players are not in the zone the team is docked rotations.
  16. On-field umpires would NOT adjudicate the zones. There would be an off-field umpire who docks rotations for every breach of the rule.
  17. Yes. This is what I mean when I say "stop the coaches". There's no new rules for the on-field umpires to adjudicate. If you don't have three players in the fifty, you're docked rotations.
  18. There's thirty-six players around the ball. The fans don't like it but the coaches do. So the solution is clear...stop the coaches!. Anything else is tinkering around the edges.
  19. Oposition coaches have stopped him intercepting
  20. isn't he a better option in defence than Smith and OMac?
