  1. I agree Chook.....for me 1/ Clarrie 2/Gawn 3/Brayshaw 4/ Viney 5/ T Mac
  2. I have to laugh as he hasn't played a game yet with us & you've already crucified him...... Games played & B & F's have everything to do with it.....recognised by his piers & coaches, especially at a young age & shows durability, determination & obvious talent....in my opinion. Maybe just give the kid a go first before you criticise him......
  3. Listen to all the interviews above & I found very refreshing the transparency of Tom McDonald. Very articulate & to me anyway, it was obvious he handles the questions & pressure much better than all the others......surprised hes not in the leadership group TBH. The Dees not going as well as most supporters think too, which again I think was clearly evident in the 2 JTL games, but hopefully their best form isn't too far away.....
  4. From a Dees perspective it looks about right to me.....The only other player that may be considered in the top 50 would be Harmesy as he probably had more influence on our games last year than Angus & T Mac. Max, Clayton & Jack have proven over a number of years (or more than 2 anyway) that they are elite. I'm sure if Harmesy & Angus continued there great form this year then they would be elevated up the list. B & F always a good indicator of a players year.
  5. Agree. Love May's aggression & I believe he's a bit stiff, but with a [censored] record he has let his team mates down. Just didn't need to go there.
  6. ha ha.....way to go Dr D KK has player 78 games (runner-up B & F in 2015) & averaging 16 disp per game @ 71% efficiency.....I reckon hell be ok. good luck son.
  7. great report BB.....Does Oscar get a round 1 gig ahead of Frosty? is there room for both R1?
  8. My starting line up..... B Hibberd May Jetta HB Fritsch O Mac Salem C Jones Viney Harmes HF Petracca Weed Melksham F J Smith T Mac AVB Ruck Gawn Oliver Brayshaw IC Spargo, ANB, Lewis, Hore Em Hunt, Stretch, C, Wagner, Sparrow (Sam Weeds & Spargo line ball......)
  9. I love ANB & Stretch but two completely different players & I understand, two of the hardest defensively working players on the list. You don't run 15 km's plus every game & 'not work hard enough'....rediculous comment LH. Stretch has come off an 8 month foot injury, so prepared to throw him some confidence rope, while others throw him under the bus. Also would have thought that 10 marks yesterday & the highest on the ground, is testament to his work rate. Here are the efficiency stats from yesterday for some of the lads pushing for round 1: ANB 56%, Hunt 62%, Spargo 73%, Stretch 79% & just for some comparisons Brayshaw 62%, Petracca 70% & Fritsch 64%. ANB & Spargo play for me but not because of efficiency, cos they kick goals & defensive pressure is great, especially ANB. Spargo looked a little out of his depth & may find a round 1 game line ball. Stretch misses but more so because of game time fitness from a long lay off. Hunt probably gets a gig because of one thing....his pace & unfortunately no room for him in the forward line.....more value in defensive if he can hit his targets. Sparrow not yet but at some stage during first half of year. Love to see JKH come back too, as it looked like he was in for a good year. (77% eff last week)
  10. yeah agree but different game 28 years ago & I reckon quite a few from that team would struggle......
  11. Dyson played 70 games for the Dees including 5 finals & 35 games for the swans including 1996 grand final where he was almost there best player on the day. Ordinary player? Ordinary comment from someone who clearly knows nothing about footy.
  12. I would like to see it.....haven't yet & plenty of evidence to suggest that its not as easy as you suggest, although I stand to be corrected. Players I can think off just off the cuff that have struggled for a while are Casboult, Mayne, M. Weller, L Dahlhaus & recently J Billings. Watch this space I guess & will observe the progress with CP with interest too......
  13. Most of the experts will say that a kicking style is set in concrete by the time the kids are 14 or 15, so good on Goody for identifying Christians kicking issues & secondly, actually trying to rectify them. This will more than likely emphasize the concentration side of the craft rather that changing his style.....Good work!
  14. Kevin Dyson was admired by many & still remains a popular past player. His ability to find the footy & hit targets with his renowned 50 or 60m kicks was amazing. He was a natural footballer & flew under the radar at the Dees in his time at the club. He would make some of our players today look silly with his precision skills by either hand or foot & this was a real feature of his game. I remember watching a reserves game one day in the early 90's & saw Dyso drop a torpedo through the goals from the HF boundary at the G.......one of the biggest kicks I had ever seen. I know he & Darren Bennett use to hang out a bit & at one stage KD was thinking about punting as well. He & Bennett had the best kicks that I have ever seen at the Dees......beautiful to watch. Biggest quaddies ever, but unlike CP, his kicking was rediculously good! Anyone know what KD is doing? I think he stayed in Syd after his stint at the swans.....
  15. Danny Hughes would have to be a walk up start as a B & F winner & a leader for a couple of years......& another croweater who has a good CV is Andrew Obst. Think Obsty played 150 games for the Dees......
  16. Unfortunately whether we like it or not, its not just about a game of footy anymore.......(I wish sometimes it was too) So I would like to see the players dress accordingly & in line with the organisation that they are working for. I for one am interested in what the players do outside of the club & I think most clubs set some reasonable standards too. From what I've observed on the telly it looks like most clubs facilitate the dress code pretty well.
  17. I was there that day & I have never seen a game with supporters hanging out of trees & standing on walls to get a glimpse of the action. Full of drama & all hanging on the Hawks v Geelong game.....amazing!
  18. 87 Prelim. I was only a kid but the vision of total chaos with no one hearing the siren & then seeing so many grown adults crying was something I'd never seen at a footy game. Knowing it could have been Robbie's swansong game made the result, & the way it played out, even more devastating.
  19. This is more realistic.....although I reckon Richmond & Swans could be 4 & 5
  20. Harmesy really came of age last season, however, for me I love the fact that he is a natural footballer/ball winner who is capable of breaking the lines & kicking some goals. Barring injury, 2019 shouldn't be any different with experience the big winner. Go Nut.
  21. I'd expect the 'powers to be' to play some senior players but only for a quarter or 2......A great opportunity to look at the progression & development of some of the 1st year players under game conditions & some of the players coming back from injury/rehab.
  22. I always worry about publicity with young players especially in their first season, no matter how good it is! Good article though & a promising first year by any standards. Watched Charlie on the telly in those last couple of games & he seemed to struggle to kick over 30m on a few occasions, but may have been fatique.....but it's something that can be rectified fairly quickly. Mature head on his shoulders & just seems to have the 'footy smarts' which in most cases if difficult to teach & he knows where the goals are..... If the coaching staff can keep a cool head on his shoulders, he has a very bright future.
