  1. That's a strange comment considering that one of our current captains has had 1 & 2 tackles in last 2 games. Leadership extends beyond the footy field & Tom has proven quite literate & honest in front of the camera......instead of talking & promising [censored]. A yes for me.
  2. A vacancy will be created when Jones decides to step down & my thoughts are that wont be happening too soon. Maxy is the obvious choice to step in as VC or joint captain with Jack...... Tom McDonald continues to impress, off the field & would come into some form of contention. From all reports Lever is held in a much higher regard than Brayshaw, & if he can stay injury free, then he may hold down a role but maybe 3 or 4 years away....
  3. I agree RL.....but the problem is not Stretches skill or amount of disposals, (averages 20 disposals at senior level) it's getting a game & a good block of senior footy! (played 2 games 2018 & 9 in 2017) a good block of senior footy would allow any players confidence to grow instead of expecting to be dropped after one game, We will see how big Goodwin's nuts are this week & whether he's bold enough to drop those 'entitled' players......I'm thinking Tic Tac's though.
  4. Sorry but that's laughable....... No way Preuss goes in & Jones, ANB are NO chance to be dropped......none!!
  5. With the lack off acountability last week I can't see a big man like Preuss coming in & to be honest, Stretch has been off Goodwin's radar for 2 years now so I don't expect him to play (although exactly what they need ATM). Hore wont play as he missed last week & will start at Casey & Goodwin will go with a smaller defender like J Wagner over Keilty. Jeffy....not yet! Might be the 2 Wagners in......May, Sparrow/Trac out
  6. Baker coming off a bad hammy injury pre-season so I would think probably a few weeks away from being fully fit......he will get his chance & has a lot to offer.
  7. After Goodwin's presser I can see many changes either....... Out: May, Sparrow In: Preuss, J Wagner
  8. I absolutely love CP but not sure I'd be feeling sorry for him. He's play 60 odd games & has been allowed the luxury of holding his spot when clearly, he needs & has needed time at Casey....... Its a brutal game & good players find a way. Unfortunately with Christians fitness, or lack of it, he will never get a regular spot on the ball.......even ANB, who is the clubs fittest player cant get in there, so what hope does CP have? Maybe pinch hitting him for short spurts is the way to go where he can have a quick & immediate impact. Unfortunately, when you put yourself out there, the hits come a little harder & the road back can be a long one. I hope he can find some good form, because like you WTE, I think he's a powerful talent & has the world at his feet. I feel sorry for those guys who bust their boilers every week, don't get any credits & are sent back to Casey at the drop of a hat.
  9. I don't know everything about footy, but what I do know is that the players HATE being carryover! Reason why......because they know that as carryover & missing a week of footy, they have to go back to Casey to re-gain form, momentum, fitness etc. I will bet my left nut that M Hore will be playing for Casey next week. Petty & Keilty deserve to play......good luck to them.
  10. Amongst all of the disappointment of last nights game & round 1, its still early days & we are only one or two wins away from being back on track. We have the talent, that is proven & I believe most of the current issues are psychological, confidence etc. A few blokes need to get back to basics & just hunt the footy with some physicality & belief.....forget the media! One thing that did catch my eye last night was the handball from Tom Hawkins to second gamer Jordan Clark to kick his first AFL goal......Fantastic! You can see that Geelong have a great culture & I just wonder would any of our senior players, given the same situation, react in the same way. That's what the definition of respect & care is , in my opinion.
  11. Speed, ball transition & hitting targets create scoring opportunities& in most cases, win games.
  12. Unfortunately Hore won't come in as he was carry over emergency & didn't play yesterday, so will need to go back to Casey. Also I have only heard snipit's about Casey's game but apparently Spargo was disappointing........Baker maybe, but don't think so as he has missed a lot of preseason & we want match fit guys coming in. Keilty, Pruess & Stretch obvious selections
  13. 6. Oliver 5. Brayshaw 4. Viney 3. Salem 2. Harmes 1. Lockhart
  14. So dropping Jones wont happen because he's captain......that makes a lot of sense. If he was a respected leader & one who has the clubs best interests at heart, he would (like Watts did) asked to be dropped so he could gain some fitness & form....simples! He would gain far more respect for doing that! Bad form is bad form no matter who you are & will be interesting to see how big Goodwin's plums are this week. Some have said to leave KK in & let him find some form, fitness & confidence.....I actually agree but what about the the 2 first gamers that were dropped last week & who's confidence has been shattered to pieces. Yeah stuff them.....lets keep playing blokes that are unfit & out of form........now that makes sense! out: blokes that cant find the footy in: blokes that can find the footy & blokes that can run
  15. Be nice to have 22 fit players on the park too......
  16. Agree H.....in summation, mid's get off theirs backsides & work a bit harder, especially defensively & reduce the inside 50 count (50 plus up to 3/4 time last week) & give Max a chop-out......
  17. I agree to La Dee..... & now Port are playing him off half back where we should have been playing him in the first place. Good onya Jack & hope you have a stellar year.
  18. Wonder what Preussey is thinking now....... & If ever Max needed a hand, its right now. Feel for C Wagner & M Hore who's parents went through the elation of watching their sons being presented with their guernsey's last week & this week, their whole world's just caved in. Good job Goodwin.
  19. yeah I reckon Spargo, Hore & unfortunately Wagner.......
  20. Lockhart, Maynard, Stretch, Baker, Bedford etc......I understand what your saying but unfortunately the writing has been on the wall for Nathan for a little while now & you only have to delve into his stats to realise that. Anyone with any football brain would know that lists have to be turned over & new players have to be exposed to gain valuable experience & I would rather see the young players elevated where they will show more endeavor, accountability & enthusiasim than a player that's playing a selfish survival game........ That's all.....& only my opinion. & the Melbourne Football Club wants/needs sustained success, not just for season 2019 but for many years ahead, hence the reason to blood the young players & not always playing the coaches pets, who for some reason believe they have an absolute right to play!
  21. Just wondering what your basing 'in our best 22 on'? Last weeks performance? Or do we put in quicker, more agile younger players (like Port did) who will run & compete & totally accountable?
  22. Putting your body on the line for your club for 10 years doesn't give you the absolute right to be selected every week? Having had 3 contested possessions & 1 tackle in last weeks game, & then saying openly 'the players need to show more physicality'......is just taking the pi55. Especially one of our leaders, he needs to show exactly that 'leadership'...... & unfortunately he was a long way off.
