  1. please don't quote me, so I don't have to read through this sort of dribble, only to find there was no point to any of it.
  2. implementing useless electronic devices that were never going to work is innovating the product is it? well I guess its an innovating way to blow 100k that's for sure.
  3. the sooner our game is rid of Gill and his mate Hocking the better. in a relatively short amount of time they've shown themselves to be completely out of touch and nothing but a couple of muddling morons.
  4. yeah it would be good. i'm not sure what he's on, but with Lewis almost definitely on his last year, we could more than likely pick up another good player for his contract value alone.
  5. yeah, not sure what they're paying Batman to play for them this year, but I doubt he comes cheap.
  6. yeah Spargo and ANB will play that role, but I want to know whos next in line if we have injuries/poor form to those guys.
  7. so with Hannan being out for a while, and now Garletts injury, who would be next in line as a goal sneak/small fwd option for us? Bedford, Chandler, or heaven help us, C.Wagner or JKH? also can we still use our last draft pick* to get a player like that, or has the window shut on that option? edit- *spot on our list may have been a better term.
  8. my criticism of Hunt is based on the way he's been playing for the last 18 months, not just the JLT match.
  9. but as a defender I don't think Hunt does win enough of his own ball, that's the problem. when he had his breakout year he was going hard in the contest and defending strongly. now he seems to want to give his opponent a bit of space so he can also have space to receive the ball and run, and his strength in the contest isn't there either. 3 contested possessions and 7 uncontested in JLT1. he's a bit too one dimensional these days imo.
  10. both showed good signs yesterday, but lets not forget that Keilty came on fresh and played against blokes who had already played half a game in stinking heat. but having said that I thought he was better rucking than Preuss. won a lot of taps he contested and gave something at ground level too. Preuss looked all at sea. Petty was ok. took a couple of good grabs. it would be good if Petty could take Oscars spot. Oscar hasn't got a decent leap, is weak at spoiling and is just too slow for AFL imo, but I doubt Petty would be ready yet. I think Hore is the one who will likely be there in r1. he's showed he can play on taller opponents, which I think allows us to play just the 2 key defensive talls. he gives good rebound as well. so I would prefer we play a defence of May, Lever, Hore, rather than have Oscar or Frost in the side. but obviously we more than likely need one of them 2 to fill the void until Lever returns unfortunately.
  11. I thought it was a good hit out for us, we played 2 good quarters and 2 bad ones, so plenty still to work on. looked like we lacked a bit of run, but I guess when not everyone is on the same page, a good team like the tigers can take you apart pretty quickly, then you're chasing tail and looking slower than you maybe really are. we were also pretty predictable with the way we moved the ball and the Tigers preyed on it and picked us off. of the new and inexperienced players, I thought; Petty, Hore, Keilty, Smith and Jordan showed enough at times to suggest they might make handy players for us. Preuss mistimed a lot of ruck jumps and surprisingly wasn't that strong in the contest either. he also seemed to tire after playing the first 20 minutes. i'm still unsure about how he fits into the side. next week will be the big test is suppose, Gawn will be back and I think the lions will play the 2 ruckmen also. some of our smaller running types fumbled a lot, stuffed up and turned it over too much. blokes like Stretch, ANB, Hunt and the Wagners the main offenders. but most of those guys aren't best 22 anyway and will be playing in the 2's for most of the year anyway. also i think Sparrow has a fair bit of development to do at Casey before he gets a game in the seniors. his kicking ain't flash.
  12. I think he may have hurt his hand in a marking contest
  13. keilty looks more likely getting a game then Preuss as the back up ruck imo.
  14. tigers killing us with run. blokes loose everywhere.
  15. preuss getting touched up in the ruck. Oscar moving in slow motion still.
  16. good on field leadership by clarry that quarter when tigers were coming hard. he took the mark at CHB and could have easily played on but slowed play down instead. passes to angus, he kicks long down the line, reset again then bang, bang, 2 goals for us in 2 minutes.
  17. yes, he needs to be able to bomb them through from 60m out on a regular basis. he also needs to grow taller so he can take towering marks, and get bigger so he can manhandle key defenders. then he will be the perfect key forward ?
  18. both TMac and Jesse are good players. both aren't perfect, but the biggest differences I have noticed between them are; Tmac is a good one grab mark when he gets clean hands to the ball, but he also hits packs and creates chances for others if he cant mark it. Jesse's a bit of a two grabber who prefers to be grounded in a one on one marking contest, and if that's fails, he tends to play for a free kick instead. Tmacs a straight shooter with a simple repeatable technique. Jesse's run up and set shot are never consistent. Tmac gives repeat efforts no matter what. Jesse drops his head and sulks if things don't go his way. not surprisingly I prefer Tmac as a FF. he's a more complete player and he frustrates me a hell of a lot less than Jesse used to.
  19. i'd say play earlier in the day. we only have a 6 day break before JLT2 as it is.
  20. I think people might be getting a bit carried away on Preuss being a walk up start just on the back of one practice match, against a team playing a couple of inexperienced ruckmen and without a decent choice of tall defenders in their backline. plenty of water to go under the bridge yet. I want to see Preuss play well against a close to full strength line up before I can say it will be worth us playing 2 ruckman most weeks. it will be interesting to see how Richmond and the Lions line up in regards to their rucks and defenders in the JLT matches, and whether our 2 ruckmen plan gets a decent test before the year starts.
  21. yeah I think you might be right there. small forwards like Nibbler who push up the ground to the contest then have to sprint back inside F50 run as much as anyone out on the footy field. i haven't seen him training but I watched Corey Wagner a bit in the VFL last year and it looks to me like he could play that same sort of role as ANB does too.
